Chapter 129: THIS IS A TASK...ITS PUNISHMENT!!

  • Next Chapter

"Enough!" Thyrian said and stepped closer to me. "Let’s go eat. We can think of a solution later," he said and gently patted my head.

I sighed. He was right. There was always later. Besides, I’m hungry.

Just as we took a few steps, the panel appeared right in front of me.

[Congratulations, Host]

I froze as I stared at the panel. Congratulations for what? I clearly didn’t win anything.

[You unlocked hidden tasks for getting your powers stolen.]

I stared at it, dumbfounded and shocked. Was this system mocking me? I just lost my powers, and I’m seeing shit.

"What the fvck, Cat!" I screamed in my head, and suddenly Cat appeared next to the panel, floating with a mischievous smirk on her lips.

"What’s the meaning of this?" I snapped, and she raised a brow.

"Of what?" she asked, clearly enjoying this. A scoff escaped my lips. If only she were in my hands, I would beat her to death!

"You have been slacking for a week, plus system tasks have been delayed and on hold for too long. It’s time to get back on track!" she said, beaming. My lips parted to reject it, but then she added.

"You get rewards too."

Rewards! That would be nice.

"As long as it involves money and worthy rewards, I’m up for it!" I said in defeat, and she chuckled. It made my body shiver because that sounded so devilish.

[Host, Survive 24 hours without allowing any Beastman to carry you.

Failure: Lightning Strike]

I froze as I saw the panel. Whattt! Twenty-four hours? My beastmen would usually do that! But wait, as long as a situation like that doesn’t happen, there is no need!

"That easy," I said, and Orange smiled. "Of course, very easy!" she said, and she disappeared with the panel.

"I can, I think!" I muttered under my breath, when suddenly—

"Mum, it’s so pretty!"

"Oh wow, she’s so good!" the crowd said, and I snapped my neck in their direction.

"What would you like to eat?" Veyra asked, but those words went through my second ear. I walked off.

"Raven!" he called out, and my other beast-men stopped in their tracks, all gazing at me.

"I want to see too. What entertainment is happening?" I murmured, but everyone was blocking my view.

Just then I felt Azrael’s hands land on my waist, and before I could say a huge no, he had lifted me up.

I just stared at the sky in disbelief. I could already see the sky roaring, and I laughed...

"System, really?" I muttered and closed my eyes as the lightning finally struck. I could feel my body vibrating as it landed straight on me. Even the show I wanted to see didn’t matter anymore.

"Oh my God, is she okay?" the crowd screamed, but my eyes were already drooping closed.

"Hey, can you see me?" Azrael asked, and my eyes snapped open. I was lying on the ground, and everyone around me was staring at me.

"Yeah," I said and sat up on the ground, but Liora just stared in deep shock. She even placed her palm over her mouth.

"What?" I asked, and she pointed at my face.

"You have, um... a lot there!" she said and burst into maniacal laughter. I just stared at her with cold eyes and then back at my beast-men.

"What? Do I look funny to you too?" I asked, and I swear I saw a smirk on Azrael’s lips.

"You look so pretty," Veyra complimented, and Thyrian chuckled.

"If only there was a way to keep this memory forever!" he said, and I glared at him.

"Gawd, a phone would have been good right now!" I added sarcastically, and Thyrian raised a brow.

"What’s a phone?" he asked.

"Nothing, you wouldn’t understand!" I said and tried to stand up, but my waist suddenly hurt.

"Ahh," I groaned in pain and sat back down on the ground.

"How will I work now?" I thought, and then I thought of the task. Tears welled up in my eyes, then Liora walked towards me.

"It seems lightning loves you today. It didn’t even rain or even look like it would, yet you got struck!" she said and handed me the mirror.

I took it and stared into it, but froze that second... and then broke out into hysterical laughter.

My hair was scattered around, standing like stars. My face was darkened and black, and even part of my dress was destroyed. I looked like a roasted potato.

The tears finally slipped out, and then Veyra stepped forward... It’s been so long since I have stared at his face. His horns were shimmering beautifully, and his hair, he actually tied it into a bun. It complimented his look, especially the red rope, making him look so hot and beautiful.

"Can you stand?" he asked, and I blinked my lashes back to reality.

"Yes," I said and tried to stand up again, but landed back on the ground.

"Shit!" I cursed under my breath, and Veyra stepped forward. My eyes widened in fear. I had already calculated his next move... He was going to carry me.

[Warning: Host, each time you get carried today, the lightning strike will be amplified!]

"Nooo!" I screamed, and Veyra stopped in his tracks. He furrowed his brow, and his lips parted to say something, but nothing came out...

"I can stand!" I said, and his lips finally parted.

"Raven, are you mad at me? Did I do something?" he asked. His tone was so soft and apologetic. I wanted to give in, but I can’t.

"No," I replied.

"Then why can’t I help you? I want to be useful to you!" he said, and this made my heart skip a beat.

"I can help you if you don’t want him!" Thyrian said, stretching out his hands.

"Really? I’m..." I didn’t even finish my words, and Ryker was now in line with them.

"Take my hands instead!" he said, and I placed my hand on my head. "I feel dizzy all of a sudden," I mumbled.

"Don’t choose them," Azrael said, and this made a smile curl to my lips. Finally, someone who was hardcore... but then he crouched down and held my waist.

"You need only me!" he said, and I gritted my teeth.

[Warning!]

I heard the panel and—

"Let’s go!" I screamed. Even the others staring dared not say a word and stared in shock.

I could even hear birds fly away, flapping their wings.

"System, you are harassing me all because I lost my power, isn’t it?" I screamed along, and then Orange walked towards us.

Azrael didn’t let go of my waist, though. "You can’t stand, you need to be carried around!" he said, and that made my hair stand upright even more.

I caught Orange smiling, snuggling her head in Azrael’s lap. He gently patted her head, and I collapsed to the ground.

"Just kill me!"
