A heartbeat later, he felt it.

An invisible force washed through the apartment, through the walls, through the furniture, through his own body, and continued onward without resistance. In its wake the air itself changed. What had been ordinary, empty space now carried a subtle density, a faint pressure against the skin and lungs, like the atmosphere just before a storm. Qi had arrived. For the first time, the room itself could support normal cultivation.

Stan felt the difference first as texture. The air in his living room was fractionally heavier, richer, almost tangible. Camilla felt it too. She rose without a word, crossed to the balcony doors, and stepped outside. There she stood perfectly still, crimson eyes fixed on the city spread below, as though listening to something only she could hear, the slow, gathering pulse of a world beginning to change.

Stan pulled out his phone and checked the major news feeds. Nothing. No alerts, no strange reports, no mention of atmospheric anomalies. The world remained completely ignorant, still going about its ordinary business under an ordinary sky.

He sat back, the weight of that knowledge settling over him. He was one of the very few who understood what had just occurred. Camilla’s earlier warnings about Qi mutating animals rose in his mind. If the tide continued to spread and thicken, the changes would not remain subtle for long. The first signs would appear in the wild, then in the cities, and by the time ordinary people noticed, it would already be too late to pretend the world was still the same.

At the balcony, Camilla’s posture remained alert, almost regal. Whatever the full implications of the Qi wave were, she clearly understood them better than she had chosen to say aloud.

Stan closed his eyes briefly and checked his internal state. The Genesis Realm base within him was already responding, drawing in the new ambient Qi passively, steadily, like a dry riverbed finally receiving rain. Cultivation on Earth no longer required him to rely solely on the reserves stored in his inventory. The planet itself had begun to provide.

He opened his eyes and looked toward the still figure on the balcony.

"It’s starting, huh?" he said quietly.

Camilla’s head inclined in a small, unconscious nod, the gesture of a comrade acknowledging shared understanding rather than a superior addressing an inferior.

The moment of quiet recognition lasted only a few seconds.

Then the doorbell rang.

It rang a second time, more insistent.

Stan looked at Camilla. "Do you plan to hide your presence?"

She lifted her chin a fraction, crimson eyes cool. "No. I don’t want to. It’s beneath me to hide my presence from ants."

Stan’s expression hardened just enough to make the words land with weight. "Those I care about are not ants."

Camilla held his gaze for a long moment. The seriousness in his eyes was unmistakable, steady, protective, and absolute. At last she looked aside and let out a quiet sigh, the first small concession she had made since the Qi wave arrived. "...I guess so. Won’t you check who’s at the door?"

He did not ask her again. If it was one of the women close to him, he was confident he could handle whatever followed. With a small inward breath he walked to the entrance and opened the door.

Sacha stood there, bright and familiar, a smile already on her face.

"You’re surprised by my visit, right?" she teased, eyes sparkling with playful satisfaction.

Stan’s expression softened into a genuine smile. "Yes, I am."

She winked. "You’re always the one visiting me every Sunday, so I decided to reverse it this time."

"It’s all good." He stepped aside to let her in. "So how have you been, Sis? Work and everything?"

Sacha’s face lit up as she entered, the usual easy warmth between them returning at once. "Everything’s going smoothly. I can never thank you enough for giving me that job and position. With me managing the company, things have been moving fast, the stock’s risen a lot in a short time."

"That’s good to hear," Stan said, closing the door behind her. The ordinary conversation felt almost surreal against the lingering density of Qi still settling into the apartment.

Sacha walked into the living room and stopped.

Camilla sat to the side, posture composed, presence no longer veiled. The moment Sacha’s eyes landed on her, a faint, instinctive pressure settled over her, subtle yet unmistakable, like standing in the presence of something far above ordinary humanity. It was Camilla’s natural bloodline superiority, no longer suppressed. The sensation did not touch Stan, shielded as he was by the system, and it had been absent the previous night when Camilla had kept herself carefully hidden. Now it brushed against Sacha like a quiet, regal weight that made the air feel slightly heavier around her.

Sacha forced a polite smile and glanced at her brother, a flicker of unease crossing her features. "Who is she?"

Before Stan could answer, Camilla spoke first, a small, composed smile on her lips.

"You’re his sister?"

"Yes, I am," Sacha replied carefully, still trying to place the strange pressure she felt.

"It’s nice to meet you, then," Camilla said. "I’m his comrade."

Sacha’s brows drew together. She turned fully toward Stan, the word clearly sitting wrong with her.

Stan could read the look easily, ’Comrade? What kind of word is that?’

Sacha voiced it a second later, her tone polite but edged with quiet confusion. "Comrade? Isn’t ’friend’ or something better?"

Sacha’s question hung in the air, pointed and unmistakably protective.

Stan met his sister’s gaze with an easy calm. "It’s accurate," he said simply. "We’ve been through enough that ’friend’ doesn’t quite cover it."

Camilla remained seated, one leg crossed over the other, expression composed. The faint pressure of her presence still lingered in the room like a quiet, invisible weight. She glanced at Sacha, then away again, as though the matter were already settled.

"Comrade is sufficient," she said coolly. "I see no reason to dress it up further."

Sacha’s eyes flicked between the two of them. The word still sat strangely with her, but the quiet certainty in Stan’s voice and the unshakable composure of the woman in front of her made further argument feel useless for the moment. She forced a small, polite smile and nodded once.

"I see... All right." She turned fully toward Camilla and extended a hand out of habit. "I’m Sacha. It’s nice to meet you."

Camilla looked at the offered hand for a brief second. She did not take it immediately. Instead she inclined her head in a measured, almost regal gesture.

"Camilla."
