Chapter 1248: You Want To Set Terms?

Chapter 1248: You Want To Set Terms?

"I do not know what kind of trick that woman prepared, but it’s useless. She wants to use a mere grade five Apothecary against me? It won’t take long for me to get this rude brat to break. Once that happens, let’s see how you deal with the aftermath of your offense." Shateur thought to himself.

In Danaharpe, those who dared to hold their heads up and look Shateur in the eyes were not many. Yet, for some young Apothecary to not even give him a proper greeting despite knowing his identity and even speak so casually before him—it could only be because he felt confidence in the fact that Apothecary Head Varuu was backing him.

Either way, Izroth was just a small Apothecary in Shateur’s eyes. While his safety was guaranteed within the Apothecary Guild building, the same could not be said if he ever took a step outside its doors.

"I change my mind. A Cosmic Trinity Pill isn’t enough. I also want the rights to one of the Duvelle family’s premier properties located in Danaharpe’s Central Hub." Izroth said with a carefree smile.

’He’s not even trying to hide his hostility. Since this matter has nothing to do with me, I planned on letting you off lightly. But, those who dare to threaten me—I won’t let them off easily.’

In the end, this was a matter between Varuu and Shateur. The only reason Izroth decided to step forward was to get Varuu to potentially owe him one. After showing proof and accepting the Cosmic Trinity Pill, Izroth was going to take his leave from the promotion test room. However, Izroth would not take a step back in the face of a threat.

Izroth’s words caused everyone to stir. As one of the most powerful and influential noble families in Amaharpe, one had to know that the properties owned by the Duvelle family could all be considered premier.

Even though the Duvelle family was known as a family that produced talented Apothecaries, that did not mean they slacked off when it came to taking in talented individuals and masters from other professions.

In Danaharpe, it was said that there was not a single business that the Duvelle family did not have its hand in some way or another.

For Izroth to ask for one of their premier properties in a bustling place like Danaharpe’s Central Hub—it was no different from demanding millions of gold coins!

’Owning property in Danaharpe is several times more difficult than a place like the capital city of Amaharpe. The noble families here have a long history and are deeply rooted in this place. Unless they allow it, it’s impossible for others to set foot in Danaharpe’s market regardless of how much money they throw around. If I can use this chance to set up a branch of the Mystical Realm Palace in Danaharpe, the profit it can generate will be well above that of the shop I set up in the capital city of Amaharpe.’

Of course, even if Shateur accepted his offer, Izroth was not sure if there would be other issues. Would the system allow him to own a property worth millions of gold coins for practically zero effort? Not to mention, he did not know whether or not he could own property within Danaharpe.

It was only thanks to the Protector of Amaharpe title that Izroth could purchase property in the capital city of Amaharpe; however, that title was limited specifically to the capital city of Amaharpe.

’Well, I’ll just have to cross that bridge when I come to it. For now, it’s too good of an opportunity to pass up. Worst case scenario, I can ask Vice-Head Malric to lend me a hand. Even if that doesn’t work out, I have other ways at my disposal.’

Shateur’s expression darkened as he said coldly, "Young man, your greed is too excessive. Any shop owned by my Duvelle family—even if you spend a lifetime crafting pills, you will not be able to afford it."

"I am going out of my way to fulfil your request. Truthfully, what you are offering—it is not enough to make up for the time I’ve already lost simply from having this conversation. Of course, if the Head of the Duvelle family wants to offer more, I will not turn it down. But, you should decide quickly as I have more important matters to attend to." Izroth stated in a carefree manner.

Those present were shocked by Izroth’s bold choice of words. Was he not afraid of offending the Duvelle family? Even if the Head of the Apothecary Guild was backing him, wasn’t he too brave?

"Such a disrespectful brat! Not even capable of treating your Elders with respect—I should have you stripped of your rank and kicked out of the Apothecary Guild!" Brukan said angrily.

"With just you? How arrogant. I’m afraid the only people capable of taking my rank away are Apothecary Head Varuu and Vice-Head Malric. As for kicking me out of the Apothecary Guild—unless I decide to walk out of my own will, even a thousand of you could not force me to do so." Izroth said without hesitation.

Izroth’s words were not empty. As an Honorary Elder of the Apothecary Guild, the only two people who held the authority to strip him of his rank were the Head and Vice-Head. And, as the Commander of what was now considered a special war power, Izroth held certain privileges.

Even if the General Support Unit was not respected in the eyes of others, that did not mean one could ignore the status of someone considered a special war power. Even Varuu herself would not be able to carelessly kick him out without good reason, let alone a mere First Elder.

Varuu looked at Izroth with a satisfied smile on her face. Meanwhile, everyone else was left dumbfounded.

Not only was a recently promoted grade five Apothecary acting arrogantly before the Head of the Duvelle family, but even the First Elder of the Apothecary Guild was not spared!

"I knew things were too peaceful. Making so many powerful enemies in one move, perhaps only the Palace Master is capable of doing it so boldly." Worldly Skies thought to herself with a small helpless sigh.

"How bold! Apothecary Head Varuu, surely, you will not allow this young Apothecary to get away with disrespecting his superior in front of so many people?! I suggest we punish this arrogant behavior at once, least others learn from it!" Brukan protested.

"I agree with First Elder Brukan. Regardless of our differences, this young man’s attitude is too arrogant and thoughtless. If left unchecked, it may become a bad example for future Apothecaries. I urge Apothecary Head Varuu to give out an appropriate punishment." Juria chimed in.

"We can discuss such matters later. Right now, it would seem that Family Head Shateur has a decision to make. Needless to say, Apothecary Izroth has no obligation to prove himself. Should anyone attempt to force the matter, they will have to answer to me." Varuu stated firmly as she brushed off Brukan and Juria’s protest.

"Hmph! The Apothecary Guild cannot even manage its own youth. It is no wonder they act so brazenly and remain ignorant of the world." Shateur scoffed.

He then continued, "Very well. It’s just one insignificant property. I will accept your offer. However, even a hundred of you are not worth a single property owned by my Duvelle family. If you are unable to prove yourself, then you must spend the rest of your life as a servant of my Duvelle family."

"I change my mind again. You will also have to pay ten years worth of property tax for the property you give me." Izroth said calmly.

"Don’t go too far!" Shateur said as the aura around him surged out of fury.

"Too far? You want to make me your servant? Even if you handed over your entire family’s fortune, it wouldn’t even be equivalent to a single grain of sand in the deserts of Pzenium. You want to set terms? Family Head Shateur seems to have forgotten that it was he who asked for proof. I see no reason why I have to agree to any terms you want to set. Of course, if you want to keep making useless demands, I can always keep increasing the price for wasting my time." Izroth stated nonchalantly.

Shateur’s killing intent flooded outward. At the same time, Varuu locked her gaze onto him. The moment she did so, Shateur swiftly pulled back his killing intent and tightly clenched his fists behind his back.

Shateur wanted nothing more than to rip Izroth apart limb from limb; however, he understood that there was no much he could do within the Apothecary Guild building. This was even more so with Varuu keeping a close eye on him.

"I will accept your terms..!" Shateur grit his teeth as he swallowed his anger.
