Chapter 228: The Divine Lord Has Come, and So Has Qingtian!

"Kill!"

"Kill!!"

"Kill!!! For the Horde!!"

"Kill!! For the Alliance!"

In the very center of the Pacific Ocean’s special zone, a battle that had been raging for nearly a week was still ongoing. The two sides of the conflict were the Sea Race, who had pursued a Deity from a special dimension, and the Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses, who had inherited their existence from the game and now occupied the entire zone.

Six days ago, not long after the Version 4.8 update, the two factions had clashed directly. Now, the Sea Race were on the defensive in their [Dragon Palace], while endless hordes of Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses attacked relentlessly.

"Kill!!"

"We have to flatten this place!!"

"The special zone belongs to us creatures inherited from the game!!"

Layer after layer of NPCs and bosses besieged the exterior of the [Dragon Palace], which already looked dilapidated compared to six days ago.

In the command area for the NPCs and bosses, a particular NPC served as the commander of the siege. After the sixth inheritance of game abilities, he had devoured many of his own inherited kind, causing his Combat Power to soar. He was now nodding and speaking to a companion. According to an NPC with the ability to assess enemy situations, the Sea Race’s allegiance had changed around the time of the Version 4.8 update six days ago, turning them into enemies. Before that, the Sea Race had been neutral. This shift was immediately detected by NPCs who could scout the allegiance of other factions.

The change in the Sea Race’s allegiance was the direct trigger that set off the Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses.

However, the NPC commander knew of another, more pressing reason they had gathered ahead of time to deal with the Sea Race. Six days ago, at around the same time, they had sensed the appearance of a large number of access permissions for the [Ninth World] within the Sea Race’s territory. Since their ultimate goal was the extinction of humanity, they were desperate for the [Ninth World], which could help them gather resources. Upon discovering that the access permissions seemed to be in the hands of the Sea Race—or that they were, at the very least, inextricably linked to it—the Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses made a swift decision: immediately annihilate the Sea Race.

At this moment, after six days of siege, the allied forces were on the verge of success.

The lead NPC commander also knew that the Giants had already figured out how to reorganize the entire Pacific Ocean special zone and Command all the NPCs and bosses in preparation for the future Version 4.9. The NPCs and bosses had never expected the version updates to come so quickly; the game had already updated to Version 4.8 before all their abilities had even been fully inherited. This meant many of their doppelgangers had not been fully materialized, and they had not fully recovered all their Combat Power. After all, the largest inheritance category was "Other," which was the last one most people chose.

Even so, they knew they would receive a 10,000-fold power boost when the Version 4.9 update was complete. Therefore, even if they hadn’t absorbed all of their own kind and their abilities weren’t in their final form, a 10,000-fold boost would be more than enough for them to end the world.

Furthermore, they knew that after ending the world, they would, like the Sea Race, have an opportunity for Teleportation to other eras, other versions, or other worlds. As long as they found the right powerful backer, they could truly become a race like humans, with their own bloodline, their own heritage, and their own history.

According to the information they had gathered, tens of thousands of Giants and over a million other NPCs and bosses had all lost contact and been wiped out in an instant three days ago, right in the vicinity of this Dragon Palace. A few days prior, the NPC commander of the siege had sent a message demanding that the Sea Race’s Emperor, Vanas, explain this. In response, upon hearing the question, Vanas had simply offed the messenger.

Thus, for a combination of reasons—the access to the [Ninth World], the ultimate goals of the Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses, and the Sea Race’s mysterious ability to annihilate tens of thousands of Giants—they were all compelled to uproot the Sea Race’s [Dragon Palace], this thorn embedded in the very heart of the Pacific Ocean special zone.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

As the NPC commander communicated with his subordinates, the violent explosions from the battle continued to roar. All sorts of attacks were launched at the [Dragon Palace] in the center. The Shield that had materialized over it was visibly and rapidly being depleted.

* * *

"Your Majesty!!"

"The Shield can only hold for three more hours at most!!"

"If we don’t leave within three hours, the Shield will drain all of the [Dragon Palace]’s flight fuel..."

On the other side of the battlefield, the adjutant of the Sea Race Emperor, Vanas, was rapidly reporting on the situation. To the Sea Race, the massive structure they lived in—the [Dragon Palace]—was not just their home but also a starship and even an incubator for their young.

Now, after six days of relentless bombardment, the energy reserves of the [Dragon Palace] were almost completely exhausted. If the surrounding NPCs and bosses were allowed to bombard them for another three hours, the [Dragon Palace], with its starship-like flight capabilities, might just end up dead in the water, its entire population annihilated.

Faced with the aggressive NPCs and bosses...
