Chapter 95: An Important Announcement

Hello to all my shareholders. This is the first time I’m meeting you all in a standalone Chapter, and I’m quite nervous.

It’s been a full month, give or take, since this "association" was founded—that is, since the book was first uploaded.

I’m truly honored that this sci-fi novel, which has a high barrier to entry, has managed to receive so much praise, love, and support from all of you. My editor, Jiguang, has helped me immensely, and Xueli even quietly gave me a Chapter shout-out. It was all a complete surprise.

And because of all this, I truly cherish every single review and in-Chapter comment you, my shareholders, leave for this book.

Many readers have asked me, "Author, are you running a script? How do you manage to like and reply the second I post?" HAHAHA. The truth is, I just keep the author’s assistant app open with vibrations on, right next to me. As soon as a notification comes in, I see it and reply.

Because I feel that:

I’ve put my heart into writing it, and you’ve all put your hearts into reading it. Therefore, if you all put your hearts into commenting, I should also put my heart into replying.

That’s why I’ve carefully read and liked almost every single message. And for most of them, if I can think of what to say, I will give a thoughtful reply.

A friend asked me: Won’t this affect your writing efficiency?

Rest assured, everyone, reading reviews doesn’t affect my writing flow. However, there are things that do impact my writing efficiency.

Namely, the platform’s recommendation system and the pressure of being driven by traffic management.

This is an age where even the finest wine can be overlooked if it’s hidden in a deep alley.

Regardless of how well the content is written, you need to rely on the platform and its algorithm to get the book seen by more people.

Unlike in the old days, authors can no longer focus their energy solely on polishing their work.

I do recognize the value of distribution and platforms—my day job in game development is also inseparable from publishing platforms and user acquisition channels—but it’s undeniable that this has affected my creative process.

Writing is a very pure act. You need a calm state of mind to produce high-quality content—at least, that’s how it is for me.

So every time I write, while I might not go as far as to bathe and burn incense, I do have to clear my mind of all distractions just to get into the zone and ensure the content quality and logical consistency.

I can push aside life’s trivialities, my business partners can handle the vast majority of our project’s problems, and I’m generally pretty low-maintenance in my day-to-day life.

But a novel really needs a release strategy tailored to the algorithm and recommendation system to be effective.

Analyzing the weekly performance data is my biggest headache and takes up most of my time. Many of you know I have a large backlog of 200,000 characters. That’s because I write at a high intensity every day, managing about 8,000 to 10,000 characters. But if it weren’t for stressing over data, I could be writing up to 15,000.

Just look at my weekly writing report. I don’t think most new authors are as efficient as I am. When I’m not writing, I’m either handling company business, sleeping, or eating.

That’s because my main outline and detailed Chapter outlines are all complete. When I can write without distractions, it goes incredibly fast.

But it’s very difficult to achieve that state of mind, especially when I’m influenced by the follow-read data.

That’s why I’m posting this special Chapter today—to take up a moment of your time, speak from the heart, and ask for your help in boosting the follow-read numbers and subscriptions.

The sci-fi category is admittedly a niche one. My book has been in the top three of the sci-fi new book rankings for over half a month, but unfortunately, the traffic I’m getting doesn’t even compare to what a book in a popular category gets in a single week.

Many people have asked me why I didn’t publish it in the light novel category, since my writing style would have been a decent fit.

It might sound a little childish, but it’s really my dream and passion for science fiction that’s to blame.

Previously, a very dedicated reader left a comment:

He felt that the social thriller aspects of my writing were brilliant, how it starts with mundane horror and transitions into a gradually collapsing reality. He assumed I was using the "shell" of mathematical and physical logic to deconstruct and interpret the supernatural phenomena, believing the core of the story was the thriller element, not the logic.

But in reality, from the very beginning of my outlining process for this book, the logic always came first.

I started with a single, grand concept. Based on that concept, I devised various logical frameworks and lines of inquiry drawing from mathematics, physics, computer science, and neuroscience. Only after establishing that foundation did I move on to brainstorming and developing the plot.

It wasn’t a case of coming up with the thriller and plot first, and then awkwardly forcing in this "shell" to explain it all.

So, this is also why I insisted on publishing in the sci-fi category, even though the traffic here is really poor.

As for the question many readers have about when the book will go premium, my plan is to wait until I secure a Sanjiang feature and other recommendation resources. If I can’t get them, I’ll just wait a few more weeks.

I never planned on making money from this book. My greater hope is that more readers who enjoy my storytelling will get to discover it. So, I think having more free Chapters is perfectly fine. The only downside is that the bros who are waiting for a mass release will have to wait a little longer.

Oh, right. I wrote a massive 20,000-character extra Chapter called "The Get-Married United Front Alliance." It’s about Yu Xian and Wen Xiao scheming to get Yu Zhengze and Wen Yu to date. I honestly think it’s the highest-quality Chapter I’ve written to date, and I’ll release it for all of you when the time is right.

Don’t worry, it’s not a monthly-ticket bonus Chapter, haha.
