Chapter 212: Broken Heart

"What in the world is that thing?" William stared at the giant monster in the distance, his eyes full of disbelief.

Although the monster was far away, he could still see it clearly because of how big it was.

The monster was nearly five hundred meters tall and looked like a bull. Its entire body was crimson red, with two giant horns on its head. Crimson-red flames were burning across its body, and its red eyes were filled with madness and violence.

ROAR!

The monster let out another furious roar that shook its surroundings and began to move.

Seeing that the monster was actually going in the opposite direction, William couldn’t help but sigh in relief and wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.

"Good thing it’s not coming towards me..." He muttered under his breath, his heart still beating violently.

He stared at the moving monster in the distance and clenched his fist.

’Just what kind of shitass place is this?’

After seeing the skeleton of the monster inside, William had felt that he would be able to survive here as long as he remained cautious.

But after seeing that giant bull, everything that he believed earlier disappeared. Forget about being cautious, if he were to get caught by that giant thing, he would definitely be slapped to death instantly.

No amount of caution would work in the face of absolute power.

"I feel like that monster might be stronger than a Star King. With my current strength, facing such a thing is nothing but an early way to enter hell or maybe... Heaven."

William watched as the monster continued to move and soon disappeared amid the darkness of the night.

Only after the monster disappeared and he could no longer see it did he sigh in relief and feel a little more secure, as he was afraid that monster would suddenly turn its head in his direction and would show a wicked grin.

After waiting for a few seconds for his heart to calm down, William shifted his attention back to the pendant he had found earlier.

The pendant’s chain was actually made of dry vine that was still flexible like rubber, and surprisingly, instead of a stone, an emerald-green gem was embedded in its center.

"Is this an artifact?" William wondered in a low voice and tried to see its information using his Status Window.

And to his relief, his Status Window really did show the information about the pendant.

---) Broken Heart (Special Grade): An ordinary pendant made by a loving father in the memories of his deceased daughter. Keeping this pendant near himself made him feel like his daughter was always with him. Under the longing and pure love of a father, this normal pendant became a Special Grade artifact.

---) Effect One: Protects user’s mind and soul from spiritual attacks to some extent.

---) Effect Two: While wearing this pendant, there is a certain possibility that you will dream of your past memories, including the ones that you might have forgotten or have turned blurry under the passage of time.

William read the details of the pendant and fell silent. Looking at the crudely made pendant in his palm, his eyes were complicated.

"To turn a normal pendant into a Special Grade artifact, just how strong his longing was for his daughter..." He muttered in a low voice and sighed.

Other than artifacts made by blacksmiths that were divided into Rank One, Rank Two, and so on, and the artifacts found inside treasure orbs that were divided into Common, Uncommon, Rare, and so on, there was another type of artifact called Special Grade.

These artifacts didn’t have any specific grades, and their power varied. Some might be stronger than even Legendary Grade artifacts, while some might be even weaker than Common Grade artifacts.

The power of Special Grade artifacts normally depended on the conditions under which they came into existence.

The Broken Heart pendant used to be just a normal pendant but turned into a Special Grade artifact.

William wasn’t certain how strong the effect of this pendant was, as he hadn’t experienced it himself, but artifacts that could protect one’s mind and soul had always been in high demand, so this pendant was definitely very valuable.

"Although I am more happy about the first effect of the pendant, I am certain that for that father, it was the second effect that brought him immense joy."

William even suspected that the second effect of the pendant came into existence because that father just wanted to see his daughter, even if it was only in a dream and not in reality.

As for how it ended up in the stomach of that monster, William suspected that the father might have been eaten by it, and this pendant thus fell into its stomach.

Sighing inwardly, he put on the pendant around his neck and went to check the other closed houses and huts.

One by one, he removed the boulders closing the entrances and checked every single building.

But other than finding some skeletons of humans and monsters, he did not get anything from them.

Around half an hour later, he stopped before a small hut and took a deep breath.

"It’s the last one..." He muttered and put his hand against the boulder to push it.

But just as he was about to exert force, William’s expression changed, and a red light flashed in his palm as Blood Moon appeared in his hand.

Woosh!

A sound of air being sliced apart came from behind him, and without even turning his head, William swung the large blade of his sword.

The sword moved at lightning speed, and in less than a second, it collided against something.

But the sharp blade of the Blood Moon easily sliced through the object, and a fountain of black blood erupted.

Thud!

The sound of something falling to the ground echoed, and William finally turned around, only to see a body cut in half lying at his feet.
