Chapter 2600: The Mission
Chapter 2600: The Mission
Watcher checked up on the matches.
He wasn’t in a hurry to do it. But after thirty minutes, when he didn’t get the news of the successful execution of the plot, he got confused and anxious. Then he started paying attention to one arena after the other.
By the time he actually checked up on it, Philip was still beating the tar out of the old fogies. He was extremely brutal with them. Its to the point by now, only three to four people are left and they froze on the spot, not knowing what to do.
They didn’t want to escape. That is the last bit of their pride that held them there.
But at the same time, they didn’t dare fight Philip anymore.
Similar scenes unfolded.
Soon, the battles were done. All of Sam’s friends came back to the bone dome. When they entered the village Sam was prepared to activate his next plan.
When he saw them, he smiled and said.
"Take some rest. We will go on offensive in a while."
Then he disappeared from the spot and reappeared outside the dome. Right in front of Watcher.
"So, the matches are done. I hope you can honor your contract."
Watcher looked at him with cold gaze. He is very tempted to just slap Sam silly until he bled to death. But he knew that would just be another thing that adds shame to their already shameful conduct.
But he felt petty and unwilling. And he planned to take it out in a different way.
"Fine, just tell me what you want me to do. I will guide what’s left of my troops to do it. And mind you, there is not much left since your barbaric friends killed them all."
Sam smiled, it was almost a cheeky grin.
"Come on now. You really don’t think I am that much of an idiot, are you? I am smarter than that. I know how your military structure works. I want you to first issue the command and replenish all your troops.
If the allied army doesn’t agree, because of your recent devastating endeavour, I want you to use your clan authority to get the troops from your own faction.
I heard you are some kind of big deal within your faction and has enough authority to do that shit.
So, do it first and contact me."
"I can..."
"Before you refuse me. You must know that by the rules of our contract, even you are bound to heed my commands. Because you are also part of the freaking troop.
This action doesn’t even really harm your allied army in any way. I am not asking you to attack them.
So, follow the rules like a good little boy."
Sam went back to the bone dome and prepared for what’s to come.
Watcher contacted Shimmy immediately.
He explained the whole situation and asked.
"What do I do, sir?"
"What else can you do? Honor the contract. If you break the contract now, you might as well go and scream in Bhim’s face and tell him to attack my home and all the innocent mortals living in there.
And trust me, that hard head would do it."
"But Sir, what if this..."
"I know what you are worried about. I am a bit worried too. This little kid is actually way better than I thought he is.
Luckily, we included the clause about not harming the allied army. Otherwise, we would be fucked.
Just follow through with the contract. But whenever you execute one of his commands, you inform me.
And I need another watcher on the spot, while you do his bidding. Pick one and tell that person to contact me."
With that Shimmy cut the contact off.
Watcher is a bit exhausted and relieved at the same time. With Shimmy’s support, at least he doesn’t have to worry about gathering the troops.
Now, he is just worried what Sam would do next.
While Watcher is gathering the troops, the allied forces surrounding the Hastin village were given an order saying that they shouldn’t engage any longer.
Surprisingly, Sam also kept the boney snakes on standby without doing anything.
He waited until Watcher gathered all his troops.
Sam went to meet him again.
"Alright. Here are the maps. I already set up some surveillance there. You can get a better view of those places and their situation with these tablets."
Sam handed over a bunch of crystal tablets to him.
"You don’t need to do much actually. Just control the beasts in there and make them wear these things on their necks. That’s all. If you can do it, I would consider our contract fulfilled."
Watcher looked at the locations that were listed down. They were not exactly some secret hideouts or anything.
They are not even the forbidden zones with unbeatable beasts. The requirements Sam gave are pretty achievable if anything.
The only problem would be that it takes a really long time.
For at least the next couple of days, his troop won’t have the free time.
"You are trying to buy time? That’s it?"
Watcher said it out loud.
Sam looked at him amusingly.
"Why? Is that a bad thing?"
"No wonder, they say youth brings idiocy. You have such an opportunity on your hands and you are using that just keep up us busy?
Did you really design all these traps and formations?"
"Well, easy now. If I were you, I would not shoot my mouth off on the guy whose friends just kicked the ass of my troops.
Just get out of here and do what you are told.
I have some chaos to create if you are gone."
Watcher gave him a nasty look and left.
Sam then went back to the crystal table and looked at the movements of allied army. Basically, the north side of the village is secured now. With most of their pretranscendent stage cultivators killed, and most of the transcendent cultivators mobilized, there is not much threat.
Now, he just needs to take care of another side.
The south seemed like a good target.
"Let’s test another set of toys."
