The formation domes exploded. The shockwaves sent cracks all over the bony snake, and the elite team moved again.
They attacked at the flexible joints of the snake that allowed it to coil and turn like an actual snake. To be fair, the formation explosion and the joint attacks didn’t really do much damage. They just chipped off half a rib at best.
But that was actually enough to let a person slip in easily.
That’s all they needed.
The elite team infiltrated the insides of the bony snake and started attacking the riders.
The snake rider leader, acted.
"Report, report. The snake is infiltrated, taking precautions. Activating the automatic mode."
The leader yelled those words out loud. All the members immediately activated transference tokens and were transported back into the dome.
The bony snake’s eyes suddenly glowed. The elite team that went in, all had surprised expressions because the inside of the snake was nothing like what they imagined. They thought there would be some intricate set up and chambers for the people controlling the snake.
But it was covered with black walls with those intricate patterns of inscription arrays that blinded them.
And before they could process what’s happening, they were trapped. The space around them froze. The glowing energy gave off an intense heat.
The team leader felt the threat first.
"Let’s get out of here."
He screamed. But their exit was closed. They banged the barrier like crazy lunatics trapped in an asylum.
But there was no progress.
The heat intensified...
"Cap..Captain... something... something is wrong."
One of the team members, a woman with long beautiful hair was the first one to panic. Because her long beautiful hair, started dropping off his head, strand after strand very fast.
She didn’t even have time to completely express her horror, before she felt the burn on her skin. One layer after the other, it started peeling off.
Before it could hit the surface of the snake, it evaporated.
"ARRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH...."
The girl started screaming. And soon it was the rest of the team. They tried to resist. They used their divine energy to the maximum. But it didn’t even slow down the process.
In fact, they noticed that no matter how much energy they conjured up, it was being absorbed by the snake just as fast.
Soon, nothing but their skeletons were left behind inside and those skeletons collapsed.
The energy of the snake intensified even more. The skeletons disintegrated and right before the eyes of the army, the small crack on the snake’s ribs started healing.
And that wasn’t even the worst cause of their shock.
As they gawked at the snake with their mouths wide open, they saw a few semi humanoid silhouettes grow out of the snake’s skeleton.
They didn’t have any legs, or any physical form for that matter.
They are ghosts of the elite team. And only torso up, they are merged with the spirit of the skeleton and they had glowing spots all over.
As the snake closed up its wounds and charged forward this time without the need for the riding team.
The ghost heads turned into different directions. The glowing spots fluctuated and they shot of translucent energy beams from their mouths.
Even when the opponents tried to block them or hit them with the weapons of their own, it was of no use.
The energy beams hit their bodies.
However, there was no visible damage. At least nothing that they could feel. No bleeding, no tears on the skin, no burns, no fluctuations of their energy and no particular energy loss.
Just when the victims of it were about to be relieved... they felt it.
They felt all their strength leave their bodies as they collapsed on the floor.
They were barely breathing, and their energy was very faint. All the Divine energy accumulated in their bodies just escaped, only the bare minimum was left behind, just enough to survive.
The battlefield came to a sudden halt.
Everyone looked at their unconscious comrades in the middle of the battlefield. They checked up on them, trying to figure out what happened...
"DON’T WASTE YOUR FUCKING TIME. GET THEM BACK TO CAMP AND CONTINUE THE FIGHT."
Shimmy’s orders made their way through the crowd.
The army retreated. But the snake didn’t.
It started chasing recklessly.
Only then did the army and Shimmy realize the true threat of these things. In the hands of the riders, these are not exhibiting their true potential. They were basically playing defense.
Meanwhile...
Back inside the dome of Hastin village. The spectators, who are basically the village residents watched the whole thing happen. Even what happened inside the Snake’s body and they were shocked by the cruelty of it.
"This... this is too painful to even watch."
One of the mortal realm cultivators said out loud.
"And it is just the beginning."
A voice that not a lot of them were familiar with suddenly appeared along with a figure that they were somewhat familiar with.
Sam looked at the screens and the current status of the war.
"I am late. It took longer than expected. But why are you playing the safe game?"
He said out loud to no one in particular. He just took in all the information as one after the other, his friends showed up.
The managers and the regular squad. Everyone appeared. All the managers are still in the middle stage. The rest on the other hand, actually reached Pre-transcendent initial stage.
"Remove your suits and training gear. You are going all out. Test out your new skills. Pick your opponents and focus on kills.
Don’t play around. Be efficient."
Sam gave off orders without even looking at them. It was as casual as a food order.
Then he looked around and found a spot suitable for him, which is where Yudhi’s stone table was usually placed.
He removed the stone table and replaced it with his crystal table.
The holographic view of the whole battlefield and beyond appeared on it. All the formations and other machines they prepared were all visible on it. Everything is connected.
"Now... let me show you how its done."
