*BOOM*
The gravity around them increased, it has increased by at least a dozen fold.
Dia's teeth bit deeply into the flesh of the opponent and as the gravity increased, naturally the opponent's body is sagging down. Due to the weight of the body, the flesh was ripped apart.
Dia chewed the flesh with relish as Sam stabbed the halberd into the head of the opponent. Another one, taken down.
And that day, it was just the beginning.
For the next few hours, the Norse city is filled with the steps of horse hooves, screams of the second graders and the intense battles so that they can meet the 32 member limit and ensure they are safe from Sam.
At least, at the start Sam just used the weapons and the beast he was riding on. But as he encountered the stronger opponents, he started using his tricks. Inscription traps, curses, formations, ambushes, invisible attacks.
He fought so fiercely, but he didn't even get off his horse. Not even once.
Three hours later.
In the main street of the Norse city. The street right in front of the Thor academy.
*THUD* *THUD*
The heavy footsteps of Dia could be heard. The whole street is a mess. It is almost like a scene out of an apocalyptic novel.
Sam is chasing after his opponent.
By now, his shield is way too dented and it is resiting on his back. Even his armor is also dented a lot. He held the long sword with his right hand, and the halberd in the left.
*SWOOSH*
The halberd flew threw the air and lodged itself into the leg of the opponent. It pinned him into the ground.
Sam halted near him, but by that time, the halberd sucked the soul power out and that guy died.
There are already several injuries from both the long sword and the halberd on the opponent's body. His soul power was already on the verge of exhaustion.
*SWISH*
At that moment, suddenly someone came at him out of nowhere.
Sam raised his left hand and a crossbow bolt was shot at the coming opponent.

That guy fell down without even having a chance to attack. Sam turned and slashed his head off with his long sword.
At that moment all of a sudden, his token turned from green to yellow before it turned to white in color.
'Only thirty two candidates still left in the competition. You are officially one of the finalists of the Solo combat competition of the second grade interacademy tournament. Sam smirked as he looked behind.
There are at least a dozen corpses in the path, all left behind by him. He felt very satisifed with what he accomplished.
He killed so many people in the last three days, that he himself brought the number to 32. And on his way to do that, he accomplished many things that he wanted to. At the moment, people who are effected by his accomplishments are gritting their teeth and grinding their palms in anger. Anger that came from their inability to retaliate in kind.
Because Sam took down the teams of various academies. After dealing with the Zeus and Hel Academy, Sam went after the Hou Yi's academy. After coming to the academy realm, he hadn't created much trouble for that guy.
So, Sam took this chance to remind Hou Yi that he hasn't forgotten the grudges.
He also dealt with the Indra academy.
He didn't care about the rest of the academies in the game, but he did deal a lot of losses to other Olympian academies. The Hephaestus academy was eliminated, the Poseidon academy lost four. There are also a few other Olympian academies that go eliminated or had barely one. The damage he did this time, is off the charts. They have to recover the score they lose here in other aspects, otherwise they wouldn't be able to keep their rankings stable. They wouldn't have been this worried if this is a good old competition.
Every year, there would have been a regional competition and only ten people from each region will come, which means, a lot of academies couldn't send any people at all.
However, they would get some rewards for ranking in the top 16 in the regional competition, so high ranked students would gain some score to their academies, and the prelims would
have been a tournament style, which would bring more points.
But this free for all reduced all of it. They don't know how the score will be calculated.
This is making them anxious.
All because of Sam. They couldn't even understand how Sam managed to have so many tricks up his sleeve. They understood that unless they dealt with Sam with overwhelming strength that couldn't be overcome with any kind of trick, they wouldn't even have a chance.
Sam got off Dia and golden flames raged from him. The armor heated up and while everyone is watching, it turned back into its original shape. No dents, nothing, it is as good as new.
They were dumbfounded, news quickly spread around.
Sam went back to his room and rested while many people talked about his feats throughout
the night.
While everyone waited in anticipation, that night passed.
It is time for the Solo competition.
All thirty-two contestants are now lime light of everyone. The biggest arena of the Norse region has been arranged to be the venue of this competition.
A straight up tournament on a large open stage. No, special rules, no tricky loopholes to exploit. They can just go there, use all the means they can gather and just try to defeat their
opponent.
Of course, there are special restrictions on the level of artefacts that they can use. Sam is sure that the Thunder prison wouldn't be qualified to use in this tournament. Only artefacts of that
overpowered nature are restricted.
They can use the moderate ones.
Sam observed his fellow competitors.
There are three people from Gambler academy. Rashma, Sam and surprisingly Crow. Of course, it is not as surprising as Sam being here. Ares academy has two, Karthikeya academy has three, Thor academy has two, the Eden realm's Michael Archangel academy has two candidates, Sun Wukong's academy has two.
These are the only ones that had at least two students. Except for Gambler academy, there is only academy that has three students that is Set's academy from Duat Region.
The remaining are all alone from their academies.
The line up itself made everyone feel like they are dreaming. Gambler academy never had this level overwhelming results in previous competitions, not in solo combat. Maybe Dove's batch can produce these kinds of results, but they mostly restrain themselves.
Set's academy is also a surprise. They are also mostly known for Team battles and then their performance in divine battlefields, they don't do that well in solo competitions. The nature of the free for all is the primary reason for this change.
After explaining of the rules, they started drawing lots to match the opponents.
Sam looked at his opponent and smiled. It is someone from Ares academy. He can do whatever
he wanted, however his match is the last one.
First one is Rashma's match. Sam went to his seat and eagerly watched.
Rashma is matched against a Thor academy student.
"FIGHT"
The referee announced.
One minute passed.
"Rashma Wins"
The referee announced again. Everyone looked at the arena with dumbfounded expression.
Rashma just took her foot off the chest of her opponent. She just caved him in directly. Single hit. He couldn't even react before she started beating him up and made him crash into the
ground like this.
Nobody knows if he is even breathing anymore.
She just scratched her head in boredom and left.
The second match is between a member of Karthikeya academy and a member of Ares
academy. Both of them happened to be spear users.
The fight was intense and it went for more than fifteen minutes. The kathikeya student won at
the end. He hurriedly drank some potions before going to rest.
Then the second Ares academy student fought a student from Set academy.
As both of them entered the arena, the Set academy appeared extremely relaxed as if he is not
there to fight, while his opponent is nervous.
Sam knew some information about both of these people. He knew that Set guy is very powerful, but to think that he made the other party this nervous. He wondered what happened
during the free for all.
After a couple of minutes, he understood.
No matter how much the Ares student tried to attack, the opponent, he couldn't.
The Set student is a master of illusions. In fact, even the people sitting the stands couldn't differentiate what is illusion and what is not.
Whenever the Ares student managed to stab his opponent, the illusory body disappeared and
reappeared near him.
That illusory body threw the attack, he felt the pain and took the damage, but when he counter attacked, the illusion collapsed again.
