Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1652: He Damaged His Kidney for Alice
Benjamin Shaw suddenly pulled the quilt off his head, enduring his anger as he looked at Isla Lane, "I said I want to be alone, you can leave now."
"...Alright."
Isla Lane wanted to ask more questions, but seeing Benjamin Shaw’s restrained expression, she pursed her lips and didn’t speak further.
She glanced at her son, who was extremely out of sort, and left the ward with deep concern. However, she did not leave the hospital; instead, she sat on a bench in the hallway.
Benjamin Shaw was fine just a moment ago, but suddenly he was acting so strangely, Isla Lane felt there was something fishy going on here.
Did Thomas and the others accidentally say something they shouldn’t have just now? But she was at the scene too, she didn’t notice anything was said amiss.
What on earth is going on?
Ever since Thomas and the others came, her son has been acting strangely, very strangely.
Intuition told Isla Lane that Benjamin Shaw’s sudden change definitely had something to do with Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner, especially Alice Turner.
Every move Alice Turner made seemed to affect her son’s emotions, and this was not a random guess; it was a conclusion drawn from careful observation.
Thinking of this, Isla Lane turned her head to glance at the ward where Benjamin Shaw was in. She took out her phone from her pocket and dialed Autumn York’s number from the contact list.
"Hello! Sister Lane!"
The phone rang for a while before Autumn York on the other side picked up.
Isla Lane didn’t speak immediately. Instead, she turned her head to check her surroundings to make sure there were no idle people around before speaking into the phone, "Didn’t you tell me that Thomas and Alice are no longer together? Why did they just come to the hospital together to visit Benjamin? They looked very intimate, not like they had broken up."
The words carried a questioning tone, and there was discontent in her speech.
Autumn York found herself at a loss for words upon hearing Isla Lane’s questioning. Some time ago, she indeed lied to Isla Lane, saying that Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner had broken up so that Isla Lane could feel at ease to match Alice Turner with Benjamin Shaw.
But what could she say now? Should she tell the person on the other end of the line that she was lying before, that her son hadn’t broken up with Alice, and the two of them had actually already registered for marriage?
She was sure that as soon as she said that, the person on the other end of the phone line would definitely get upset with her, maybe even angry enough to fall out.
"Sister Lane! Let’s let the children handle this themselves. We’re old, we can’t keep up with the way young people think," she said after careful consideration, feeling this was a more prudent approach.
"What do you mean by that? Are you saying you won’t care whether Thomas and Alice end up together or not? If you’re not involved, what about my Benjamin? He injured his kidney for Alice." Isla Lane detected the intention of Autumn York washing her hands of it, leaving her without an ally.
Previously, hearing Isla Lane’s reasoning, Autumn York was very much in agreement. But ever since she talked with Alice Turner the other night, she felt that Isla Lane’s perspective was somewhat one-sided.
She was also anxious to separate her son from Alice before, without giving much thought to it, and naturally sided with Isla Lane.
Ever since learning that Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner had registered their marriage, Autumn York’s heart gradually calmed down, regaining her rationality.
"Sister Lane! We can’t confuse saving someone with romantic love. We can’t use the matter of saving someone to hijack another’s love," she explained, hoping the person on the other end understood.
