Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 363: Ch 362: New Announcement
The monsters were maintaining their distance from Kael and the others, almost as if they were too afraid to get closer to them. It was a weird thing for most people to see monsters running away like this.
But both Leon and Lyra, who had sensed the true essence of Kael’s power, looked worried instead.
After all, god’s power was not something a human was meant to use without consequences. Even Leon and Seraphina challenged it through different means, meaning that it was not flowing through their veins. And not unfiltered.
Their distraction caused a few monsters to step too close to them, but by the time they noticed, Kael had already taken care of them.
"Don’t get distracted here or you will all die. Our goal here is to find the core, so focus on it. Anything else can wait."
Kael told them all, and they nodded. They spread around quickly in order to find what they needed.
Leon shot a look at Lyra, telling her to stay beside Kael while he kept an eye on the rookies they had entered the dungeon with.
However, Lyra was not going to sit back and twiddle her thumbs like a useless person. Instead, she was going to ask Kael a lot of questions about what was going on.
"Kael, are you alright? You feel... a little different today."
She tried to feel him out. But knowing Kael, he was going to divert the topic and not give her a clear answer...
"I am fine. I feel just as good as ever, so you don’t need to worry about me. In fact, I feel a little more lively due to the magic in this dungeon."
Kael confessed, causing Lyra to look at him with a startled expression. But she could not help but let out a laugh soon after.
"I see... so you feel better? Are you sure that’s all?"
She asked once more, and Kael nodded.
"If it feels like I have changed, then it is likely due to the cores I have been absorbing. Their power is also coursing through my body, and since they are god’s remains, they must be having some effect that is making you feel the difference. Can you tell me what is different about me?"
Kael asked, and Lyra felt speechless once more.
She was not sure if she wanted to tell Kael that he felt like an unfamiliar person to her because of his behaviour.
But when she actually went back to think about it... she was not able to pinpoint any such behaviour. It was more of a feeling she had when she looked at Kael.
But it was hard for her to verbalize these things.
Luckily for her, she was saved from this awkwardness by Leon, who came back soon after. He also had the core of this dungeon in his hand, which he handed over to Kael.
"Here, the core. But are you sure you want to absorb it? There might be consequences for that kind of thing."
Leon pointed out, but it was already too late.
"Well, I already absorbed more than zero cores, so I am already in trouble. I might as well make sure I am the only one who has to absorb cores at this point."
Kael pointed out, and his words made sense. But that did not mean that they did not leave a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.
The mood had fallen too much, which made Kael let out a sigh, and he clapped to get everyone’s attention.
"There is no need to look so gloomy about such news. Instead, let’s focus on more important stuff. Like, how to celebrate getting new people in our guild. The party will be held in the evening, so make sure you all come."
Kael declared, and the newbies let out a cheer at the news. They all looked relieved that they had made it out of their first dungeon alive.
There were quite a few non-awakened among the staff, and it had been a risk to bring them, but Kael wanted everyone in his guild to be familiar with the dungeon if possible.
That day, they all went back and partied hard. But Kael kept feeling like someone had their eyes on him the whole time.
He did not dare to look at who it was, but he already had an idea about the true identity of the person.
Not that it mattered to him. His instincts told him that there was no one here who would be able to harm him at his current power level. If he wanted to, he could destroy this whole world and even rebuild it if he wanted to.
But these were dangerous thoughts that he needed to cage up. He could not allow his greed and desires to affect this world.
Besides, Kael had a feeling something big was about to happen soon, and he kept an eye on the sky.
[Ding]
[A new announcement has arrived, just for you.]
[You are currently the individual with the biggest share of this world’s power. Now, you will get another chance to increase your power.]
[A final quest has opened up for you.]
[Quest: Find the Grave of the Final God of this world. Upon completion, this world’s authority will be transferred to you. We hope you have a good time with this quest.]
The message sounded simple, but it had so much to unpack.
And yet, Kael did not want to question that message. He simply wanted to find the grave and inherit the power.
Even he knew that it did not feel like himself when that power was involved. He felt like he was a puppet under someone else’s strings, being manipulated from the background.
Besides...
"It almost feels like the system is trying to force me to take all of this power. It’s as if I’m afraid that someone else will take it away from me if I don’t hurry..."
Even Kael had a feeling of urgency, almost as if he was being chased by a wild animal, and it made his heart skip a beat.
