Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 350: Ch 349: Public Speech
"So, are you going to tell us what that experiment was about? I want to know what caused you to allow yourself to get hurt as well."
Seraphina’s left eye was twitching in irritation as soon as she heard that excuse from Kael, and he could tell that she was unhappy about his choice.
He had a feeling that he might actually be unable to move if he did not explain his plan to her. So he decided to tell them what he had found out.
It took some time to air out all his suspicions, but it was better for him to get these things out in the open. And by the time he finished, he could see everyone else looking startled as well.
"So, you are saying that you think your body has started to change the second you absorbed that god’s core? How certain are you?"
Now that was a real question. Kael was not really certain about it, but he did feel like he was on the right track, at least.
"I am quite certain about the changes in my body. I did not feel any physical pain even when I got hit by Lyra. And I only felt slight irritation when Seraphina used her magic on me. I think I would have even been able to resist it if I tried hard enough."
Kael proposed, and he wanted to try it. But the reluctant looks he got from everyone else told him that they were not as excited to let him try.
"Well, we can worry about this later. For now, we need to get ready and head out. It is the inauguration of our guild, and as our leader, you need to be present to give a speech."
Kael let out a groan at that and looked at Iris to try and ask her to become the leader instead.
But just like always, she turned her head away, leaving Kael to be the one to carry them all.
...
The air buzzed with excitement as all kinds of people stood in the crowd. Some came here to enjoy the show, while others were hopeful for a better future.
But most people were just looking for a reason to poke at Kael and his guild.
The establishment of guilds for public protection and private profit was not a foreign concept, but the fact that they were able to set one up this quickly did not escape anyone’s mind.
Everyone knew that they were backed by the government, and this was the result. But their feats made it hard for anyone to criticise them either.
Kael looked at the crowd he needed to address and took a deep breath. It was finally time for him to act out his role.
His speech had already been written out by Officer Tyson, and he just needed to recite it. He knew that no one was interested in anything he had to say. They were all waiting for something to happen.
And it did not take long for the disturbance to occur either. The explosion that shook the area was followed by smoke, and from that smoke, Kael felt a lot of magical signatures.
The intruders were finally here to cause trouble, and their agitation stood out among the speakers.
Kael noticed them immediately and signalled for Leon and Iris to move. But the real person keeping security in check was Elena.
Currently, everyone except Elena was a well-known public face for either their dungeon dealings or helping the government and setting up this agency. Plus, Elena’s powers were better used in secret.
"It’s finally time. Are you nervous to go up on the stage? If you are, then don’t worry. I am here with you to help you out."
Officer Tyson placed a hand on Kael’s shoulder to reassure him, but he looked far more nervous than Kael at the moment.
Kael placed a hand on his shoulder to reassure him, but it only seemed to make the officer even more nervous. So he decided to leave the officer behind for now and head towards the podium. He instantly felt hostile eyes looking at him from below the audience.
The second he touched the podium, the resistance hidden within the audience started to make their move.
"We won’t be silenced. You do not get to control us—"
One of the awakened tried to jump Kael, but Elena’s interference stopped him from being able to move. Bony hands grabbed him and his companions, dragging them towards the centre of the gathering.
"Shit! I knew this was going to happen. At least there was no incident."
Tyson looked relieved that all the people who wanted to cause trouble were caught and his bonus was not in danger.
The people who had been caught causing trouble tried to get out of their hold and jump towards Kael, but it was impossible. But that did not stop their mouths from moving.
"This power is a god-given gift to us. Who are you to tell us what we can and cannot do with this? If I want to take revenge for something, I should be able to—"
A chain blocked the man from being able to say anything anymore.
Thankfully, there were only a handful of people like this who wanted to cause trouble, and so far, they had decided to come forward and expose themselves.
But humans were greedy by nature, and Kael had no doubt that there were many powers brewing in the background, waiting to take their chance.
"Ugh, I will take these people back to the detention centre. We will have to use a lot of materials to hold them in. Also, do you think I can borrow a few of your people?"
Tyson asked, and Kael looked behind him with an almost sorry look in his eyes.
"You might need more than a few hands. We have far more gathering than we expected. And from the looks of it, people are getting worried."
