Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 313: Ch 312: Goodbye Lyra - Part 1
The bind pulled Kael away from Lyra’s body, and the more magic he tried to use, the tighter they became. But it was not the corruption he sensed in these binds.
Instead, it was Lyra’s own magic that was trying to pull him back.
Kael was usually a patient person who kept his language professional and did not like to curse. But he could not help but curse this time.
"Lyra, wake up! How long are you going to continue playing dead? Are you going to die a bitch for corruption?"
Such words had never crossed Kael’s mouth before. Well, not when he could use magic.
But he had been born as a 21st-century orphan who was forced into a low-wage job despite having studied his ass off. How could someone like him not know how to swear?
In fact, he had a cursed mouth, but he had trained himself not to swear as soon as he had graduated from college in order to appear gentler.
This habit had even followed him when he returned to his body, mainly because he did not want to give the kids he was raising a bad impression.
But all bets were off now, and if cursing was going to get his message across, then he would curse as much as he needed to.
In fact, his cursing was so shocking that Lyra even opened her eyes and looked at him with a dumb expression.
’Ah, finally! She is awake!’
"Lyra, if you are awake now, then pull these bloody chains off me. I am losing my patience here."
Kael complained as he tugged at the chains holding him back, but Lyra looked uncomfortable.
In fact, she was looking at him like she did not know who he was.
"Lyra, hurry—"
"Who are you, and why do you have Kael’s face? Also, don’t swear with his voice. It does not suit you—"
Lyra denied him outright and even tightened her hold around his middle to throw him out. But it only served to make Kael even angrier.
"What do you mean it does not suit me? I am human as well, so I can swear! In fact, what the fucking hell do you want me to do in this fucking situation? Not swear?"
The more Kael asked this, the more uncomfortable Lyra looked as she pushed him back. And it was starting to piss Kael off as well.
He had no strength left in his limbs, but he still kept pushing forward until he crossed the hold of the chains, and they started to break under the pressure of his magic.
"Stay away! Please, just stay away—!"
"I am not going to stay away. In fact, I am going to get you back as well. And you better come back without much fuss—"
Kael kept pushing and pushing, and Lyra started to struggle against the binds as well. She suddenly realised that she was in danger.
And just when Kael felt he could reach out and grab her, Lyra broke free and rushed to the side.
"You bastard—! I am going to kill you for using Kael’s face—"
Lyra clawed at Kael, and he raised his arm to block her attack. He started to bleed, and Lyra froze at the smell of familiar blood.
Only then did she notice that his magic was familiar as well, and she realised what she had done.
"I... this was not..."
Her hands shook, not knowing what she was supposed to do. And Kael used this opportunity to grab her and pull her closer.
"You dumb girl! Sigh What am I going to do with you? You truly cause me nothing but grief."
Kael did not mean a single word, and he patted Lyra’s back when she started sobbing. She was not able to stop once she started, but she quickly dried off her face and let out a sigh.
"This... feels better. I am sorry for what I did. I did not mean to doubt you, but I—"
"I know, and I am fine. I am not angry at you at all, so don’t worry."
Kael told her as he rubbed Lyra’s back, and she finally started to calm down.
Her embarrassed blush was still present, but it was much less prominent.
Kael allowed her to remain like this for a little longer before he pulled her away and looked at her flushed face.
"So, what do you want to do now? Should I take you out? I will need to come back for the other two, but I don’t feel comfortable leaving you here."
Kael told Lyra, who shook her head and smiled at him.
"I will be fine now. In fact, I will play my role now and give you an opportunity to find the other two. So let’s meet again once this is all over."
Lyra sounded a little melancholic and sorry when she said this, and Kael had a feeling she was about to do something drastic.
"Lyra—"
"Don’t worry. I won’t do anything dangerous. I will just give you a nudge that I should have given you a long time ago. Go and find the other two as well."
Lyra pushed Kael, and the space around him started to disappear.
Lyra waved at him from the other end, and it suddenly felt like there was a lot of distance between them.
"Kael, remember! I love you, and that won’t ever change."
Lyra confessed, and Kael felt conflicted. He turned around to walk before he suddenly looked back and reached out to her.
It was difficult, but Kael managed to reach out before the space completely separated them.
His fingers closed around Lyra’s wrist, and the moment he felt her warmth again, he tightened his grip as if he was afraid that letting go even for a moment would cause her to disappear forever.
"Lyra, listen to me. I will be back for you. This much I can promise you."
His words were sincere and filled with warmth that made Lyra’s eyes widen in shock.
