Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 207: Ch 206: We are here to take Kael

[The Calamity ’Witch Queen of the Dreaming Moon’ has started its inception. Birth time: 5 days.]

’Darn it! The calamity tricked me! I cannot believe I fell for the oldest trick in the book.’

Kael wanted to scream at what just happened. But his body suddenly felt like it had no strength left in it. His vision was also blurring, making it hard to keep his eyes open.

He could feel the calamity trying to take hold of his senses, but something was blocking it.

"Tsk, why do you have so much divine energy? Aren’t you a magician? If so, then act like a magician and let me see what your body is made of."

Selene grumbled, tightening her grip on his wrist. It was starting to hurt now, but Kael refused to give up. And his magic responded in kind, trapping the corruption inside it.

It was taking a lot of magic for him to maintain the divine barrier, but Kael knew that he was done for the second he let it control him.

The calamity just sighed as it watched him struggle. It even poked his cheek with Selene’s cold finger.

"What a tragedy. Can’t you see that I am just trying to help? Even if you want to stop me, the end of this world cannot be prevented. That is why the high elves accepted my offer and accepted me into their bloodline."

The calamity spoke nonsense that Kael refused to believe. Why would the high elves, of all people, want to accept the calamity? They were the ones most at risk if this thing went berserk.

But the calamity genuinely seemed to believe that it was in the right.

"Hmm, why don’t you believe me? I even helped them by reincarnating this body again and again to be used. Hmm, since you don’t believe me, would you like to see for yourself?"

The calamity asked, and the pressure lessened a little. It also became easier to breathe, which was nice.

But the sense of danger around Kael did not lessen.

In fact, it seemed to have increased quite a bit. The calamity did not seem to care and quickly wove a web around them. The dark power surrounded them both before it started to glow golden.

The walls seemed to melt around Kael, and the power looked beautiful enough to make anyone want to touch it.

But Kael was not foolish enough to lower his guard.

"Well, it’s time for you to see what happened in the past. And once you do, you can choose to make your own decision. Although, I have a feeling you will see the error of your ways and come around eventually."

The calamity promised, taking a step back. And Kael’s surroundings changed into a forest that looked vaguely recognizable.

It was Elfland, the birthplace of all elves and also the place where the high elves’ power was first born.

But it was not the present. Kael had a feeling this was a projection of the past. And he was proven correct when he saw the High Elder come out. She looked far too young, almost like a child.

"Everyone, it’s time. The gods have decided to grace us today with a gift. The Holy Elf Tree has finally sprouted."

Her voice carried strength and conviction, making the other elves turn toward her in awe as well. He knew about the Holy Elf Tree.

It was not a simple tree, but the very source of the elves’ lives. It was believed that they were born from that tree and would return to it when they died.

But was that not the case? More importantly, could he trust any information that was being shown to him by the corruption?

"Hey, I won’t lie to you about something this basic. You can ask the elves about their Elf Tree yourself. I assure you that they are just as amused by its rumors as you think they would be."

The corruption wearing Selene’s face sat a little farther away from Kael. Its powers made Selene’s body float as it tried to get closer to him. But his barrier immediately blocked the corruption.

But this did serve as a reminder for Kael to keep his distance from the corruption if he did not want to be swallowed by it.

...

"Nathan, how is the tracking going? Can you find Kael?"

Emma asked her youngest brother, and he gave her an annoyed glance.

"Tsk, give me some room to work here. It is not easy tracking a kid. Besides, I have a feeling we have other ’guests’ here to greet us."

He spoke firmly, looking to the side where he sensed an extra presence. He even had a feeling he recognized those tracks.

Emma suppressed a sigh while Adrian looked in the direction Nathan was pointing. He quickly stepped forward and blocked a strike that was almost too fast to follow.

"You are-"

Iris pulled back, allowing holy power to strike Adrian’s sword. He parried it, only to be attacked again by the now-empowered Iris.

"Hey, how dare you-!"

Nathan immediately rushed toward his brother to help him, only to be blocked by Elena. Emma, who tried to help him, was blocked by Lyra.

"Hey, we are here to take Kael back with us. Now, would you be kind enough to ask him to come out?"

Lyra asked patiently, but her voice did not reflect that. Her annoyance was clear on both her face and in her tone, and it made Nathan recognize who she was.

"Hey, you are-"

Nathan tried to get his words out, but Elena attacked him using her soldiers, forcing him to turn his attention toward her instead.

"Let’s not waste any more time on this than we need to. We just need to get Kael, and then we will be out of your hair."

She promised, but no one moved to give her what she wanted.

Meanwhile, there was one person in their group who stood back and looked at the confrontation with a tired sigh.

"I told them we were here to talk, not to fight. Why don’t they ever listen?"

Leon was having a bad day, and he had a feeling it was only going to get worse.

"Tsk, the things I do for you, Kael. You better appreciate me more for this."
