Chapter 205: Ch 204: You...are not Selene

’Why is Kael saying all this? My power...? Corrupted...? There is no way that could be possible.’

Selene denied even the slightest possibility that Kael could be right. She refused to believe that the elves’ sacred power, which she had been so proud to wield, was actually corruption. So, in her eyes, Kael was nothing more than a liar.

And there was only one thing a liar like him deserved—to be set straight.

Kael’s touch was comforting, and Selene almost leaned into it before she pulled herself back and realized that it was time for her to act.

’Don’t let this kid trick us. We are here to guide you on the right path. If you don’t end this child’s life now, then he will bring disaster.’

Selene wanted to give Kael another chance, but unfortunately, she had seen all the destruction and chaos his presence was going to cause in the future.

"Don’t try and trick me, you bastard! Do you think I will fall for your cheap tricks? I am going to kill you and rid the world of a vermin like you."

’Is that...me? Why do I sound so angry? I need to be gentle with Kael so that he will listen to me-’

Those were Selene’s true feelings, but her senses were not cooperating. Her anger was especially intense, making it hard for her to concentrate.

The voice consoled Selene, and she felt better to have such an understanding partner. She wanted to show her gratitude when the intention behind that voice suddenly changed, and her body moved on its own.

The power inside her burned with a need to be unleashed. Selene had never seen it act like this before, so it shocked her as well.

’What are you doing? Are you going to kill Kael? Please, give me a hint.’

Selene did not know why she felt so desperate to know what her power was about to do. She would have never questioned it before, but this situation forced her to.

She refused to admit why she felt so desperate to save Kael, but she felt like she would regret it if she did not act now.

In the end, the power seeping through her let out a sigh before reaching out to pat her head.

’You are a good and honest child, my dear. But that is exactly why we cannot allow you to continue like this. We have decided to save this world, and if your presence becomes a hindrance, then we will have no choice but to lock you away.’

That was all the warning Selene got before her surroundings changed.

She could tell that she had not left her position at all, but her body was suddenly locked inside a prison with iron bars preventing her from leaving.

She tried to reach for the bars, only to be shocked the moment she touched them.

The high elf’s power that had taken over her body let out a tired sigh and gave her a pity-filled look.

Her power told her before leaving her to rot inside the cell.
