Chapter 42: Ch 42: Laying the Wires

"Thank you for hiring the Fairy Working Association. You can leave all magic-related stuff to us. Now, what can we help you with?"

The fairies asked in a cheerful voice, and Aiden felt a little surprised to see the small creatures that were barely as large as his middle finger.

In fact, these small creatures looked identical to the way people described them in his world, which made it easier for him to accept their presence.

"Hello. I would like to ask for your help, but instead of magic installation, I have something else to ask of you. Please take a look at this. I would like to have it installed all over the town as soon as possible."

Aiden showed the fairies the blueprints he had bought from the shop, and a bunch of fairies gathered around to take a look.

Their tiny bodies swarmed the paper as they kept reading. By the end, they looked fascinated and confused.

"What is this? I have never seen anything like this before! And it doesn’t run on magic, but on sunlight and other resources? Then, does that mean it has infinite potential? Do you have more-"

The fairies were just like the dwarfs, fascinated by the blueprints he had provided. But unlike the dwarfs, they were much more enthusiastic to the point of being overbearing.

Still, Aiden did not feel overwhelmed, and he decided to maintain his smile while offering them another blueprint that he had purchased.

The more the fairies read, the better their mood seemed to get. They were absorbing things at a rapid rate.

"Are you sure you would be able to do it?"

Aiden asked after the fairies were done reading the blueprints, and the fairy, who was likely the flock leader, puffed out her chest and gave Aiden a look of confidence.

"Of course we would help you out. We are the workers of the Fairy Working Association. You can leave this all up to us...as long as you provide the materials."

Aiden nodded and gave them all the materials he had purchased. And the fairies instantly got to work.

Slowly, the town began to transform into a better place, but then a storm struck the construction process. And that was the clash between the fairies and the dwarfs.

And it was related to the electric wiring of his village. And Aiden was called to mediate.

"Stop putting the wires all over the trees and poles. It is ruining the image of the village we built."

The dwarf leader stressed, but the fairies were not ready to back down either.

"Then what are we supposed to do with the wire connections? We cannot leave them exposed, and using the magic concord to connect them is ugly and unsafe. We need to think about the energy issue as well. Wires are indeed the best."

"So do it in a way that does not look ugly."

It was such a stupid fight, but both sides looked adamant about getting their way.

Aiden decided to interfere, and he quickly stepped between the two fighting races.

"Why don’t you both cooperate and lay down the wires underground underneath the sidewalk? It will be safe and also lower the construction cost since we will only need to lay it out once. I am sure the blueprints already had something like that mentioned."

Aiden was not an expert on reading blueprints, but he was educated enough to read the 3D diagram on the blueprints. And one of the texts clearly said that it was for electric wiring.

For him, it was obvious what that meant, so this fight confused him.

"I see. So this ’electric wiring channel’ is for things like these wires? It makes sense. Then the other channel must be for something else we might need to add in the future. We shall keep it in mind in the future."

The dwarf head looked pleased with this discovery, and Aiden shook his head.

It felt like a reminder to him to not consider his knowledge as common knowledge in this world. What used to be normal for him was new and fascinating for the people of this world.

Anyway, not that it mattered to him. As long as his plans were set in motion and his goddess’s territory improved, he was willing to endure as much bullshit as he needed to.

The dwarfs and fairies came up with a brilliant solution to laying down the wires. The dwarfs opened the checking holes for the fairies, and they were small enough to slip in and lay the wires down.

With their combined might, the village slowly transformed from an abandoned and run-down place to one that could be seen as too modern for these times.

There was sanitation, electricity, and even pavements. And more technology was about to come soon as well.

This was the perfect time to gather more followers for his goddess and to expand her name far and wide.

Aiden headed toward the village a day before the grand festival. The merchants had started to come, and he could hear loud gasps following their every step.

Most of these merchants were going to stay at the village temple, which had been renovated, but Aiden had also asked the dwarfs to construct an additional inn in case the temple turned out to not be able to house everyone.

And that was what happened.

However, it was not only the temple that got full, but the inn as well.

There were far too many people who came to check out the festival after hearing about it from the merchants.

Unfortunately, none of them were influential enough to matter.

"Sir Priest, would you look at the crowd that came here to check this festival out? Aren’t you proud of us?"

The merchants asked with greedy eyes, looking at him with clear want. They had far exceeded his expectations, and Aiden could not help but marvel at the crowd in front of him.

"It is indeed a nice sight to see. I am sure my goddess will be happy as well. As a reward, I shall put in good words for you to my goddess. We can also discuss business deals-"

"L-Lord Priest, there is an emergency! The Duke of Bazar Kingdom has arrived, but we don’t have accommodations for him. What shall we do?"

Unfortunately, unexpected news decided to strike at the worst time.
