Raising the Forgotten Snake Goddess with my Divine Faith System
Chapter 136: Ch 135: God Steller is Dead
Goddess Apophis listened to Aiden’s plan carefully, but she could not help but worry when she saw how confident he was about dealing with the Church of Prey.
Although she liked seeing him believe in himself, she also knew that being too confident could easily become a problem if he underestimated his enemies.
"Aiden, I like that you have so much confidence in yourself, but don’t let that confidence become overconfidence. The Church of Prey has been hunting other gods for a long time, so there is no telling how many tricks they might have prepared for someone who decides to go against them."
Aiden looked at her for a moment before smiling, and although he still believed that his plan would work, he could tell that Apophis was genuinely worried about him.
"Do you really think I can do this?"
He asked her for reassurance, even though he already knew what she would say, because there was still a part of him that wanted to hear those words directly from his goddess.
Apophis looked at him for a few seconds before sighing, knowing exactly what he wanted to hear from her.
"Of course I do. I will support you no matter what happens, but you also need to promise me that you won’t throw your life away just because you think you can handle everything yourself."
Aiden nodded after hearing her words, feeling much more reassured than before, and he promised her that he would not fight God Steller alone or allow his confidence to make him careless.
With that settled, Aiden spent the next week preparing everything he needed for the counterattack, gathering more information about the Church of Prey while also contacting the smaller gods who had suffered under them.
If he was going to fight an organization as large as the Church of Prey, then he needed to make sure that he had enough information and enough people willing to stand beside him.
Exactly one week later, Aiden finally decided that they were ready, and with Goddess Apophis supporting him, he launched their counterattack against the Church of Prey.
His decision was simple, but it shook the landscape of power that was scattered around this world by pushing a major power like that back.
...
Aiden’s plan had been simple—he was going to use the system and Goddess Apophis’s power to separate God Steller’s authority from the common people who had nothing to do with this fight.
He had no desire to hurt the common folks, and that was a major obstacle in his path.
After all, unlike him, the church had no problem going after Goddess Apophis’s people outright. But that was another thing Aiden had taken measures against.
He had turned the barrier and the defense mechanism into an iron-clad fortress and told his people not to come out for the next few days. They understood what he meant well and decided to stay inside.
At the same time, he had stocked them with enough food and supplies so they wouldn’t have to go outside.
"Now, it’s time to crush our enemies. Let’s get going."
Aiden and his goddess had come here alone, and it looked foolish at first, but that was a part of Aiden’s strategy as well. And he only had one goal in mind—to get God Steller.
Walking right into God Steller’s territory was far too easy. No one even bothered to stop Aiden and ask who he was, and before he knew it, he was standing in front of the main temple.
The oppression of having entered a foreign territory pressed down on his head. But because his goddess now held the same level as God Steller, Aiden was able to shake the pressure off and enter further.
He simply ignored the followers and priests that tried to stop him and walked toward God Steller’s throne.
The arrogant god noticed him but did nothing to stop him all the way until Aiden stood in front of him.
"Kid, you smell like trouble and snakes. What are you doing here?"
The god asked, and Aiden simply raised his gun toward the god’s head. It was a point where everyone should have been trying to stop him, but no one moved. They had too much confidence in their god to think that he would die.
Even God Steller gave Aiden a look before letting out an amused chuckle.
"Are you here to play with me? Alright, I will allow you a chance. Come, attack me. I will show you the difference—"
The gunshot wounded God Steller in his eye, and Aiden wasted no time in shooting even more. His bullets were laced with his goddess’s poison as well, so they were even more effective.
God Steller managed to keep standing even after getting shot, but it was only a matter of time before he would be taken down by the poison as well as the system’s blessing.
For now, the arrogant god braved through the pain and held himself straight.
"Is that all? I can...huh? Why am I not healing? You! What did you do—"
The god finally noticed the oddity in his body—there was no healing even after being left alone for a while. It made the god finally rage and realize something was wrong.
"You—! What did you do to me? I—"
"Well, you are the one who fell for this trick, right? Then how is it my fault? It is yours for being so gullible."
Aiden pointed out and shot the god one last time. And this time, the body did not wake up.
The followers of God Steller, who had been proud and arrogant until now, looked at Aiden as if he were a devil who had come to eat them alive.
But well, they were not wrong. With God Steller gone, the new owner of his authority was his goddess, and these priests were as good as useless now.
"Everyone, God Steller is dead. What happens next is up to you."
