Raising My Trash Ability into a Broken SSS+ Rank Skill
Chapter 893: The God’s War
"How long has it been since someone last challenged these ten gods?" "At least not in the last hundred thousand years, they had got strong grip at their seats." Nobody bothered to question that answer, it was common knowledge by now.
In an arena so big that it could allow millions of people in the audience, the higher beings who had gotten there quickly all chatted excitedly, their voices blending into a low roar that filled the entire space from end to end.
Although the gods were weak but their battle was always entertaining, maybe less than those games though. Still, free entertainment was free entertainment.
Especially in this God war, where all the higher beings were sure of the result. These ten gods were impossible to defeat, strength aside, they had gathered too many trump cards over the ages.
"Did you bet?"
"Of course I did, I would be a fool to not bet when the result is so obvious, you didn’t?" A higher being who looked like a sparrow with long limbs, asked with a hint of proud, puffing his chest out slightly as he spoke.
"I didn’t, after the lost last time, I decided to hold back. But you lost more than me, how did you get the capital to bet? Did you borrow from someone?" the other guy who looked human like asked expectantly, already thinking of ways to ask for a loan of his own.
Hoping he can borrow some too.
"Of course not, haha that is why you are poor, ugly and single, you will always remain like that with an attitude of this sort." The sparrow like man insulted the other for a few minutes only then spoke, his tone dripping with condescension:
"I put everything I have on the line, from my house, my body, everything that I have!"
"What?! Isn’t that too risky?" the other higher being was startled, taking a step back in shock. Even if the victory is guaranteed, that was still too extreme, what if there is an accident?
"Hmph What risk? Your thinking is too small, you will always remain in your gutter house and live a life of misery, don’t compare yourself to me. We are different, just watch as I make a profit so high, I will buy a house directly near the Vespera realm." The sparrow said arrogantly, chin held high with pride.
Silencing all around him, the people looked at him hatefully and enviously, many couldn’t bet in this war since such challenges were too random to risk their savings on.
Everyone was irritated by his boast, but many taking inspiration, started taking big risks and betting on the gods, whispering among themselves about how much they stood to gain.
...
In a bright lit room, the ten gods had already completed their preparations, standing in a loose circle around a floating map of the arena.
"Kill them all as quickly as possible, they have the support of that woman, it wouldn’t be good to stretch it out." The book god said in a solemn tone, his eyes distant as if already running through possible outcomes.
Although confident they weren’t overconfident like a certain bald monk but they also didn’t believe Evelyn could cheat here, not in front of so many witnesses.
She cannot give them any treasure that would make game one sided, like a weapon or armor, while they themselves had prepared to the limits of what they could muster.
"I wonder what is it that give them the confidence to challenge us, what trump card does they possess?" the oldest god murmured, stroking his beard slowly, deep in thought.
"We just need to be careful and not give any time to act, anyway how do we divide our opponents?" the smallest god asked, his voice sounding thin and low, barely above a whisper.
"That Baldy is mine, I will destroy him until nothing is left of him!" the burly eyeless god spoke, his body turning red with rage, veins bulging along his thick arms as he clenched his fists.
Finally, it was time for payback for all the shame they went through, the humiliation still fresh in his mind like an open wound.
"We will decide that once we face them, no matter, go all out from the beginning." The sun god said, after seeing everyone nod in agreement, satisfied with the consensus.
He turned and walked towards the light, as all of them stepped through portal and in the next instant found themselves standing on one side of an arena, the roar of the crowd hitting them all at once.
There were already thousands of higher beings seated, some chatting, some betting, others just waiting silently, staring at the empty stage with anticipation.
The arena was a whole space but divided into ten regions like desert, sea, forest and more, of course all regions were connected so travelling between them was easy and unrestricted.
Therefore, during the battle they can interfere with each other’s battles but there is still a big distance so they would need at least a few moments to travel between them.
A barrier separated the arena and the audience, shimmering faintly at its edges like a heat haze, and since it was a direct fight, no other arrangements were made.
This type of arrangement was still very disadvantageous towards the challengers, after all, the gods are already properly established with home field advantage in every sense.
The gods felt the gazes of all the higher beings but now it no longer affected them, veterans of this arena many times over, then they looked towards the judges seated above.
On the seat sat Fader, Adam, Armin and Zengis, each wearing carefully composed expressions that gave nothing away.
Two from Vespera family and two from Garissa family, just to maintain order and make sure no one uses any underhanded methods during the war.
There is also a fifth judge, the one who also acts as an announcer and only votes when the voting reaches 2-2, breaking any tie.
It was the leader of Arson Lords, Ryder. A higher being who was pretty settled in the underworld, but of course the Arson lords cannot compare to the Garissa family who controlled the complete underworld.
Still, his personal strength was among the top ones and he had amiable relation with both the top families, and has always been the vanguard in the higher beings wars, trusted by all sides.
"My, my. Today, as you all know, we have gathered to experience yet another God’s war." Ryder’s voice carried easily across the entire arena without effort. "Where joining us are lord Fader, lord Adam, lord Zengis and Armin, bringing partiality to this war."
Ryder’s body slowly descended into the arena, the crowd’s chatter quieting slightly at his appearance.
He looked like an old man in his seventies, yet possessed heavy presence, still looking rather friendly with few wrinkles on his face despite his age.
"If you are done with the betting, then let this old man make some basic introductions." After speaking he pointed towards the gods with a wrinkled hand, gesturing lazily.
"The undefeated gods have been challenged by newly formed level 10 demi gods, let’s hope this war is more entertaining and surprising than all the previous wars against these ten gods."
Just then, light descended on the other side and the challengers were finally revealed, the crowd’s murmuring rising a full notch in volume.
All the higher beings curiously looked over, their gazes alone brough immense pressure but they were all protected by the barrier that hummed quietly.
Yes, the barrier was placed here mainly to protect the participants from their gazes, some higher beings get too excited and had once ended up killing all the participants before the match even began.
Vritra, Shitless, Onest, vanessa, Maeve, Diana, Yennefer, Yasmine, Teresa and Fiona appeared, standing opposite side of the gods who were looking at them with high killing intent burning in their eyes, ready to tear them apart the moment the match began.
In the audience, Evelyn had already appeared, away from everyone’s gaze as she sat there with a serious look, her hands folded tightly in her lap.
Beside her sat, ava, gunter and crying monk, the latter three were feeling rather nervous, fidgeting quietly in their seats.
It all depended on those ten now, the weight of the moment settling over the small group.
"Tsk Did she not come?" Armin frowned, scanning the entire arena but couldn’t find Evelyn anywhere among the crowd.
He really hoped they can sit together and chat while watching those lower beings fight for their life, how lovely would that have been for him.
’Sigh She is busy I guess.’ The effect from before was already disappearing steadily, and he was starting to get angry at being ignored all the time by her.
So, he planned to quickly bring up their wedding and make her his own once and for all.
"This time, the opportunity of choosing their opponents will be given to these newbies, as decided by our judges." Ryder said, instantly putting a frown on the gods’ faces, clearly unhappy with the decision.
But it was fine, they could work with it.
Vritra looked at everyone and spoke: "Do you best, just hold on for long enough."
"Yes, you all just need to hold for a bit, I will quickly come to defeat all your opponent one by one. My father taught me a very powerful move, with it, I am not afraid to face anyone." Shitless said, chest puffed out, looking as if the world was beneath his feet already.
He alone is the honoured one, or so he liked to believe.
"...Sure, then let’s choose our opponents." Vritra said, already scanning the ten gods across the arena with calculating eyes, weighing each one’s presence carefully.
Everyone shook their heads at his antics, but were still expectant of the fight ahead.
Then they looked at the gods, sizing up each one carefully, choosing which god they were going to face according to their plan.
