Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Being Targeted

Lin Ji only needed one glance for the hairs on his back to stand on end.

It was this woman.

In the morning’s Fortune Prediction, the last face that appeared in his vision before the volcanic eruption was this one.

At the time, he hadn’t even had a chance to see the details clearly, only remembering a head of fiery, glowing red hair.

A pair of reddened eyes, an exquisitely beautiful figure, and the overwhelming heat that pressed toward him.

The next second, he was swallowed by a wave of fire, without even a chance to react.

But now, she was standing right in front of him.

Lin Ji instinctively narrowed his eyes and immediately locked his Eye of Insight onto her.

[Target: Qin Yao]

[Talent: A-Rank: Volcanic Eruption]

[Status: Fire Poison Assailing the Heart, spirit teetering on the edge of extreme instability and rampage]

Seeing these lines of information, the last shred of hope in Lin Ji’s heart vanished completely.

Gu Sen wasn’t the biggest problem.

The truly deadly one was Qin Yao.

Someone like Gu Sen, placed next to Qin Yao, was nothing at all.

Lin Ji didn’t rush to move.

His gaze continued to sweep forward.

Facing Gu Sen and Qin Yao stood a Rogue Squad.

Including the corpses on the ground, there should have been five people originally.

Two were already lying dead, and the remaining three were all injured.

One had a deep gash on his shoulder, half of his clothes soaked through with blood.

Another’s face was covered in dust, his hand gripping the knife trembling uncontrollably.

The young man standing at the front was dressed much more neatly than the other two.

The three of them had retreated to a protruding black rock, with a scorching fissure right at their feet.

If they retreated any further, there would be nowhere left to go.

With just one glance, Lin Ji understood why these people had been pushed to this point.

They had likely reached this place first and had indeed discovered something.

Otherwise, someone like Gu Sen wouldn’t have the patience to waste words with them.

"Young Master Gu!"

The young man at the front spoke through gritted teeth, his voice already somewhat hoarse.

"We’re all just trying to survive out here. There’s no need to take things this far, is there?"

"We’ve already told you the location of the Resource Point."

"We’ve given up what we should."

"If you let us go, we’ll find a way to repay you someday!"

"My father knows your second uncle. We’re both prominent figures in Haicheng, bound to cross paths sooner or later. Why force us to our deaths?"

After listening, Gu Sen let out a scornful laugh.

He stood there, twirling his combat knife in his hand, his face full of that lazy, disdainful expression.

"Knows each other?"

"Didn’t Young Master Zhang always look down on me before? Why start cozying up to me now?"

He tapped the tip of his knife on the ground, his gaze slowly sweeping over the faces of the three.

"It’s true that you discovered the Resource Point, but can you hold onto it?"

"Since you can’t, to put it bluntly, whoever seizes it first gets it."

"I’m willing to let you go in and scout the way now, instead of killing you outright. That’s already giving you face."

As he spoke, he took two steps forward, the soles of his shoes crunching loudly on the gravel.

"Either get in there and clear the way for me."

"Or die right here."

"Choose."

The young man’s face instantly turned grim.

One of his companions behind him couldn’t hold back a curse.

"Gu Sen, don’t go too far!"

"Making us scout ahead is no different from sending us to our deaths!"

"We don’t know what’s down in the crater—why don’t you go in yourself?"

Hearing this, Gu Sen’s expression instantly darkened.

"What kind of trash are you, to think you can bargain with me?"

He raised the combat blade in his hand, pointing it vaguely toward the man.

"Three seconds."

"If you’re not in by the time I finish counting, don’t blame me for not giving you a chance."

The young man’s chest heaved twice, the last trace of restraint vanishing from his eyes.

He glanced back at the two beside him, gritting his teeth as he whispered:

"Either way, we’re dead—let’s fight them!"

As soon as the words fell, the three of them moved together.

They clearly understood that if they wanted to survive, they had to take down Gu Sen first.

Almost simultaneously, the three erupted with Talent Energy, lunging forward with a desperate ferocity.

But Gu Sen didn’t even lift an eyelid.

He even took half a step aside, as if afraid of getting blood on himself.

The world beneath the dusky yellow pen lies within Raft Survival: I Can Infinitely Evolve Goddess Talent.

Then, he tilted his head and glanced at Qin Yao beside him.

"Qin, the great beauty, clear them out."

"They’re too noisy."

Only then did Qin Yao move.

No buildup, no unnecessary motions.

With a step of her foot, she shot forward.

Lin Ji’s pupils contracted.

Too fast.

He had been watching intently, yet by the time he truly saw clearly, Qin Yao had already crashed into the midst of the three.

The young man at the front hadn’t even had time to steady his blade before Qin Yao’s right hand clamped around his throat.

The moment she seized him, his entire face flushed purple, his toes lifting off the ground.

In the next instant, dark red flames exploded from her palm.

"Urgh—"

The young man’s scream was cut short as his neck charred black in a ring, his body going limp.

Qin Yao casually flung the corpse aside, then pivoted and swept out a leg.

The kick was straight and swift.

The two stragglers behind had just begun to scatter—one was struck in the chest, the other kicked in the ribs.

"Thud! Thud!"

Two dull thuds overlapped almost perfectly.

Before their bodies even hit the ground, their clothes were already ablaze.

One struggled to roll over, but as soon as his hand touched the ground, flames raced up his entire arm.

He managed only half a scream before falling silent.

The other was even quicker—when he slammed into the rock, his head lolled, not even twitching twice.

Gu Sen stood in place, not even unsheathing his blade.

He merely swept a glance over the three corpses on the ground, as if looking at a few bags of burnt trash.

"Wouldn’t it have been easier to agree earlier? Now look—dead without a whole body."

His tone was light, as if only a few insects had died, not people at all.

Hidden behind the bushes, Gu Yihan’s breath hitched, her fingers gripping the bow turning white.

Shen Manyun also instinctively held her breath, her gaze fixed on Qin Yao.

By now, anyone could see that the real threat in this team was Qin Yao.

Lin Ji stared ahead, his brow furrowed tightly.

The vision he had seen in his fortune-telling was brief; he only knew Qin Yao was strong, but he hadn’t expected her to be this powerful.

Her moves were too clean.

Fast, with a domineering talent, and most importantly, without the slightest hesitation.

Lin Ji didn’t even have time to observe more before the battle was over.

Thinking of this, Lin Ji’s mind grew even calmer.

He didn’t make a sound, nor did he let the others move recklessly. Instead, he continued to watch Qin Yao, hoping to gather more information about her.

But just then, Qin Yao’s right hand, which had just been lowered, suddenly paused.

The movement was so slight that even Gu Sen didn’t notice it, but Lin Ji saw it.

Immediately afterward, the chaotic, surging waves of heat around them seemed to be tugged by something, subtly shifting direction.

The Fire Element particles darting wildly through the air also seemed to suddenly find a destination, drifting faintly toward the bushes.

Lin Ji’s gaze instantly darkened.

She had noticed.

Not a guess.

She had truly noticed.

Qin Yao, who had been facing away from the group, slowly turned around.

The heat waves lifted her Red hair, and her bloodshot eyes locked onto the bushes where Lin Ji and the others were hiding, like a venomous snake.

No probing, only undisguised killing intent.

Her dark Red tight leather outfit, which barely concealed her figure, strained to its limit as she turned.

The breathtaking curves at her chest heaved violently with each breath, as if ready to burst free from their restraints at any moment.

Lin Ji didn’t move.

He knew that once targeted by an A-grade monster like this, retreating was pointless.

Ahead, Qin Yao slowly raised her right hand.

A molten Red glow of fire ignited bit by bit at the tips of her pale, slender fingers.

The temperature around them instantly soared. The edges of the bush leaves curled rapidly, emitting white smoke, and even the air warped under the scorching heat.

Only then did Gu Sen sense something amiss, turning his head to follow Qin Yao’s gaze.

Before he could see clearly, Qin Yao’s hoarse and icy voice rang out.

"Come out."
