Quick Transmigration: Irresistible Beauty
Chapter 445 - 445: Substitute Bride of the Demon King (49)
"So, what the Lord Magician means is that he wants me, a weak woman, to sleep on the cold, hard floor while you sleep on the soft and comfortable bed alone, right?" Yue Ran sneered. "Andre, I did not expect you to be so ungrateful as to bully a weak woman who was utterly helpless after the same woman had helped you."
"I did not!" Andre exclaimed. This is slander!
He was so angry that his wound throbbed painfully. It was a mistake; he should not have talked to her. This woman had an uncanny ability to turn black into white with ease and hurl dirty water at someone whenever they dared to disagree with her.
Yue Ran continued to say, "Well, if that is the case, then you should go and sleep on the floor."
Andre gritted his teeth, angry and powerless as he spat out, "You clearly know that I can't move my body, so how can I move to the floor?"
Yue Ran stretched, and a yawn slipped from her lips. She then walked over and climbed into the bed with calmness in her eyes.
"If that is the case, then close your eyes and sleep obediently," Yue Ran said. She looked him up and down and added in disgust, "Besides, you are in such a state now. Are you still afraid that I will do something to you?"
Andre was so angry that he was rendered utterly speechless.
When had he ever been so despised and insulted like this before? This woman was simply unreasonable! It was as if she had taken it upon herself to push every button within him!
In the end, he could only watch as the young woman got onto the bed, gracefully stepped over his foot, and then, without hesitation, she lifted the cover and settled herself beneath the sheets.
Andre's body tensed instantly, like a deer caught in the headlights, and he leaned against the edge of the wooden bed, not daring to move even an inch for fear of accidentally touching Yue Ran's skin.
He felt a whirlwind of emotions, unable to comprehend the audacity of the scene unfolding before him. He had never had such close contact with a woman since he was a child. He did have someone he liked, but his relationship with Ellie was not that close. Even the arrangement of the fake marriage was something he had suggested with selfish intentions.
Ellie had never held any romantic feelings for him; to her, he was nothing more than a brother. His affection for her, deep and unwavering, had always been restrained and forbearing. He kept his emotions closely guarded and did not dare to cross the line, fearing that if he allowed even a glimpse of his true feelings to surface and let her discover his secret thoughts, he would not even be considered a friend by Ellie.
But now, he was so close to a woman that he didn't know what to do. As the delicate body fragrance of the woman filled the air around them, Andre's mind went blank. Every instinct told him to move, yet he felt as though he were frozen. In an instant, he turned as stiff as a statue.
He kept tensing up like this, his body rigid, until the woman next to him breathed evenly, her chest rising and falling in a soothing rhythm, indicating that she was sound asleep. It was then that he relaxed a little.
His gaze drifted involuntarily to her face, which was softly illuminated by the light filtering through the window. At first glance, Ellie and her sister Leila seemed almost indistinguishable, sharing similar features—a delicate nose, full lips, and dark hair framing their faces. Yet, beneath the surface, why was Leila's personality so strange?
He recalled what Ellie had told him about her younger sister, describing how it was difficult for them to communicate due to their "different views on the world." It became painfully clear to him just how true that was. It was indeed hard to communicate with Leila—
All because she didn't listen to a word he said!
Outside the window, the full moon cast silvery beams that filtered through the delicate gaps between the rustling leaves, painting the room in a dreamlike glow. The night deepened, cloaking everything in a velvety darkness that seemed to clothe the world in silence.
Andre turned his gaze to the delicate face of the woman sleeping beside him, her features softened by the pale illumination, and inwardly struggled for a while. A swirl of emotions churned within him as he fought the internal battle raging in his heart. After a long pause, he sighed, conceding to the reality of their situation.
The situation is difficult, so they could only spend days together like this. At most, he could be careful to avoid any physical contact with this woman.
Thinking of this, Andre slowly closed his eyes and began to sleep. As soon as his awareness began to fade, he sensed a rustling coming from beside him.
He never expected that this woman's sleeping posture was so bad! She twisted and turned, her limbs encroaching on his space, squeezing him to the edge of such a small wooden bed.
The small bed creaked under the weight of their shifting bodies, and, for a moment, he couldn't help but marvel at how someone could be so oblivious to the confines of their shared space. Then again, she was sound asleep, totally unconscious of the outside world.
While it was fine for him to be squeezed to the edge, just… why did he have to endure her bad habits?
Just as the weight of drowsiness began to settle over him, a hand, seemingly falling from the heavens, collided with his chest in a sharp, unforgiving "snap." It struck precisely at the site of his earlier injury, sending a jolt of agony coursing through his body.
Andre groaned, the sound escaping his lips like a wounded animal.
