Chapter 3548: Medusa (14)
Chapter 3548: Medusa (14)
Poseidon was a god with a divine body. His form was indestructible, which put him in a completely different category from the fragile bodies of humans.
Being stabbed by Ning Shu in his unmentionables only caused a moment of agony before he recovered, though the feat cost him a significant amount of divine power.
This ungrateful bitch—he had graciously intended to take her in, yet she dared to harm a noble god.
The humans of this age were merely creatures kept by the gods. For one to dare revolt was a crime that demanded punishment.
“You think you’re so powerful? You think obtaining a bit of strength from who-knows-where allows you to oppose a god?” Poseidon roared with thunderous rage, wanting to tear Ning Shu limb from limb. “Let me tell you, it’s not that simple. Not just me, but Athena as well—neither of us will let you get away with this.”
Ning Shu clicked her tongue in regret. It seemed she couldn’t just chop his junk off.
They certainly were sturdy. No wonder the Greek gods were so formidable. Their ‘equipment’ was made of iron, and the goddesses’ wombs were likely made of iron too.
They truly transcended human flesh and blood.
Ning Shu cracked her neck with a series of audible pops. She opened her hand, and a massive blade formed from concentrated energy appeared in her grip.
Since that was the case, she would simply finish Poseidon off.
Then she would deal with Athena. After that, she needed to learn curse magic. While she had the faith halo to resist curses, the original host, Medusa, did not.
If any random god could still curse or punish Medusa after Ning Shu left, then what was the point of all this effort?
Learning curse magic was necessary to break existing curses and prevent future ones.
She had a lot on her plate. If Poseidon insisted on blocking her path, she would simply have to commit deicide.
Poseidon gripped his trident, his aura shaking heaven and earth. He let out a roar that made the mountains tremble, his divine majesty turning the very sky a different color.
A divine roar.
Roar my foot.
Ning Shu raised her massive blade and slashed at Poseidon. He parried with his trident, and the collision of the two weapons produced a cacophony of metallic clangs and a shower of sparks.
Both were using their full strength. The impact left their bodies numb as sand and stones flew through the air, and even the surrounding trees were pulverized into ash.
The screeching sound of metal on metal was enough to give anyone goosebumps. Poseidon’s eyes were blood-red. “Where did your power come from?”
Ning Shu said with a smile, “Humans can also defy Heaven to change their fate and break their shackles. My power comes from my own cultivation.”
“Nonsense!” Poseidon thrust his trident heavily toward Ning Shu. “A god’s ability is innate. Humans simply do not possess such power.”
Ning Shu blocked the trident with her energy blade and said nothing. A massive, coiling dragon surged from behind her, let out a roar toward the sky, and lunged at Poseidon, binding his body so tightly that he couldn’t move.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Ning Shu plunged her energy blade into Poseidon’s chest.
Golden blood sprayed out. Ning Shu reached her hand into Poseidon’s chest, grabbed his heart, and ripped it out with a violent tug, holding the beating organ in her hand.
Golden blood coated her hand. A gaping hole was left in Poseidon’s chest where his heart had been. The blood dripped onto the ground, staining the rocks gold. They might even turn into literal gold.
Even without a heart, Poseidon did not fall. The heart in Ning Shu’s hand continued to beat rhythmically.
Poseidon’s crimson eyes fixed on Ning Shu as he let out a roar that shook the world. The ground split into a web of massive fissures.
“Give me back my heart!” Poseidon shattered the dragon binding him. His body began to grow steadily until he became a giant that seemed tall enough to pierce the heavens.
He raised a colossal foot to stomp on Ning Shu. That single foot blotted out the sun, and as it came down, it felt as if the sky itself were collapsing.
The massive foot seemed to descend slowly, but its actual speed was incredibly fast. Ning Shu hurriedly dodged the blow. When Poseidon’s foot struck the earth, it kicked up a thick cloud of dust and sent a shudder through the ground, leaving a deep, massive footprint.
Ning Shu set up a barrier to hold the heart. Standing on the dragon’s head, she rose into the air until she was eye-to-eye with Poseidon.
Before Poseidon, the dragon looked like a little earthworm, and Ning Shu was so small she was practically negligible.
Poseidon’s breath was like a gale, making the thin veils on Ning Shu’s body flutter as if they were about to be blown away.
In his giant form, Poseidon’s face was enormous and looked exceptionally hideous. His two nostrils were like massive mountain caves.
Ning Shu could hardly bear to look at him.
So you can turn into a giant. Big deal.
Poseidon possessed giant genes. In the original storyline, after he raped Medusa and she became pregnant, a giant named Chrysaor sprang from her body when she was beheaded.
It wasn’t surprising at all that Poseidon could become a giant.
“Give me back my heart, or I will kill you and slaughter all of humanity! You must pay the price for offending a god!” Poseidon’s voice was thunderous, louder than a literal clap of thunder, and it made Ning Shu’s eardrums ache.
His breath was thick with a pungent, fishy stench of the sea, like a blast of a heavy ocean breeze. It was almost unbearable.
Ning Shu stood steadily atop the dragon’s head, clutching Poseidon’s heart. “I can give it back to you, but I have one condition.”
“You dare threaten a god? You dare try to negotiate? Unforgivable!” Poseidon’s voice boomed like thunder, and his two massive eyes were like suns in the sky.
Golden blood continued to drip from the hole in his chest. It was pooling on the ground below.
“Enough with the ‘god’ this and ‘god’ that. Drop the act. I literally have your heart in my hand. What do you think happens if I crush it?” Ning Shu said bluntly. “Do you want to negotiate or not?”
“I can kill you!” Poseidon roared. Ning Shu pinched her nose. “Has anyone ever told you that you have terrible breath?”
Especially since he’d grown so large—the smell was quite overwhelming.
Poseidon: …
Kill her. Kill her. I have to kill this woman.
“You can’t kill me, so we might as well negotiate,” Ning Shu said with a smile. “Also, could you shrink back down while we talk? You’re a bit ugly when you’re this big.”
Even something cute would become terrifying when it got too large.
Poseidon: …
This was pure contempt for a god, a complete lack of reverence. Poseidon was so enraged that golden blood sprayed from the wound in his chest.
He was so angry he was practically on the verge of a brain hemorrhage. If he actually did what she said, where would his divine majesty go?
Poseidon reached out with a massive hand, wanting to crush Ning Shu. He was determined to grind this woman into mincemeat to vent the fury in his heart.
Ning Shu flickered and vanished, avoiding his hand.
