Chapter 3104: Was That a Rag?

Chapter 3104: Was That a Rag?

Gong Rong: …

Could she at least take the thing out of his mouth?

His mouth was stuffed so full he couldn’t even move his tongue.

Ning Shu was thoroughly displeased. She had actually run back to save someone like this?

She finally removed the sock from his mouth. Gong Rong’s first words were, “Was that a rag?”

Ning Shu shook her head. Gong Rong visibly relaxed until she said, “It was a sock.”

The color drained from Gong Rong’s face even further. His eyes rolled back, and he nearly passed out again.

Ning Shu sat down, gave him a dainty little punch on the chest, and said, “Don’t faint—I’ve got something to talk to you about.”

That punch from her tiny fist made him feel like his ribs were broken.

He truly couldn’t faint now, even if he wanted to. However, he’d lost so much blood that his face had turned nearly translucent.

“While my mom’s out, let’s discuss the matter of repayment for saving your life.”

With a cheerful smirk, Ning Shu said, “I assume your life’s worth quite a bit?”

Surely he didn’t think that she’d saved him out of the kindness of her heart.

She needed money for her mom’s operation. And after the surgery, there’d be a long course of medication—none of it cheap.

The entrustor had only been 22. She hadn’t even finished university yet.

They were desperate for funds. Did he really think she was the sort to martyr herself for a stranger?

Gong Rong asked weakly, “You saved me for money?”

Ning Shu gave him a sidelong glance. “What did you think it was for? Sentimentality? Don’t forget—you’re one of the privileged class, I’m not. What kind of emotional bond could there possibly be between us?”

“How much do you want?” Gong Rong asked.

“You tell me,” Ning Shu said smoothly. “How much do you think your life is worth?”

Gong Rong’s eyes flickered. “How long was I unconscious?”

“Two days and three nights. I was the one looking after you,” Ning Shu replied.

Gong Rong glanced at the bandage on his arm and sighed softly. “I might not be able to pay you. My black card may have been frozen.”

Ning Shu: …

“For fuck’s sake, what kind of useless gunman misses the head!?”

She turned on him instantly, face full of disdain.

Gong Rong’s eyelid twitched. “Actually, I do have some personal assets.”

“And?” Ning Shu tilted her head, expression cold.

“Even for your sister’s sake, you should’ve had the guts to die cleanly,” she said with a sneer. “What the hell were you running for?”

Gong Rong’s face was deathly pale. His lips were dry and cracked, completely devoid of color. Ning Shu ignored it.

Suddenly, Gong Rong gave a faint smile. “Fu’er did well. If she could lay a hand on even me, she wouldn’t hesitate with anyone else. That’s the only way to protect SR Conglomerate… the only way to survive in a den of wolves and tigers.”

Ning Shu gave him a round of applause. What a model brother.

She was utterly filled with schadenfreude. Gong Rong’s appearance as a man must’ve put too much pressure on Gong Fu, especially since she’d only just taken control of the company.

If Gong Rong returned now, and with a male identity to boot, it’d definitely destabilize Gong Fu’s fledgling power.

“Can I have some water? I’m really thirsty,” Gong Rong said, looking at her.

Right now, he really did look pitiful—so pitiful he could tug at anyone’s heartstrings.

“You’re completely useless now. Dead weight. No value at all. No water,” Ning Shu replied coldly.

Strictly speaking, she and Gong Rong were natural enemies. They belonged to sharply opposing classes.

And this whole mess wasn’t over yet. She might still get dragged into it.

D*mn it.

Ning Shu shot a glance at Gong Rong. Back when he and his sister had been all lovey-dovey, she’d ended up unlucky. Now that the two had turned on each other, she’d probably be caught in the crossfire and become their scapegoat as well.

Her stare grew increasingly hostile. Gong Rong couldn’t help but inch away. However, the moment he moved his arm, he felt excruciating pain.

His face turned a ghastly white.

Ning Shu gave a sweet smile. “Don’t worry. I won’t do anything to you.”
