Chapter 3059: Time City
Chapter 3059: Time City
Ning Shu had another reason for wanting to comprehend the ordinance of time—she wanted to go back and see her parents. She didn’t know how time flowed in her homeland.
“Please stand at the entrance of the passage,” 2333 said.
“Wait a moment.” Ning Shu opened the chat system and sent a message to Mei Ziqing.
Mei Ziqing was at least a familiar face in the ordinance space. With her around, Ning Shu could learn more about this place.
Ning Shu: “Are you there? I’m about to enter the ordinance space.”
With a *ding*, Mei Ziqing replied, “Which city are you going to?”
“Time City.”
“Then I’ll see you there.”
Ning Shu closed the chat system and stood at the entrance to the ordinance space.
The teleportation took a little longer this time. During the process, Ning Shu felt extremely dizzy. If she had a body, she would’ve thrown up by now. When her feet finally touched the ground, Ning Shu felt like her soul was about to fall apart.
Her soul energy…
Looking around, she saw that Time City had an ancient-style design.
Beneath her feet were blue stone slabs. When she stepped on them, she could vaguely feel some kind of force surging within them.
“These slabs contain very faint traces of the ordinance of time. It’ll probably be a bit taxing for you,” 2333 said.
“2333, over here!” Mei Ziqing waved at Ning Shu.
Hearing Mei Ziqing call “2333,” Ning Shu was momentarily confused before realizing that Mei Ziqing was calling her—that was her code name.
Ning Shu walked over with great struggle to Mei Ziqing.
“What happened to your soul?” Mei Ziqing asked in surprise.
Seeing Mei Ziqing’s robust soul, Ning Shu felt bitter. “It ended up like this after a task.”
“Congratulations on becoming an ultra task-taker! From now on, we can team up in more dangerous worlds. Let’s go to a restaurant.” Mei Ziqing reached out to take Ning Shu’s arm, but her hand passed right through her.
Ning Shu: …
She couldn’t even hold hands with someone.
Mei Ziqing chuckled. “It’s not too bad of a deal to use up some soul energy in exchange to able to enter the ordinance space.”
“Please don’t gloat over my misfortune.”
Mei Ziqing covered her mouth and laughed. “How could I be gloating? I’m just curious—what kind of task could have left you in this state?”
As they spoke, Ning Shu and Mei Ziqing arrived at the restaurant’s entrance.
It was Ning Shu’s first time in the ordinance space, and her soul was struggling to withstand its power, so she could only walk slowly.
Mei Ziqing also slowed down to accommodate Ning Shu and chatted with her along the way.
Ning Shu entered the restaurant. The place felt rather empty, with only a few people scattered around.
There were both men and women. Ning Shu felt a little excited—this was the first time she had seen so many ultra task-takers.
This space had many cities. Each ordinance area had its own city, and ultra task-takers were spread across different ones.
Ning Shu was very excited.
She and Mei Ziqing found a table and sat down. A waiter approached to ask what they wanted to eat.
Ning Shu noticed that the waiter’s soul was incredibly solid and that he carried an air of arrogance.
Could it be that even a mere restaurant waiter was an ultra task-taker?
As expected, there was always someone stronger out there.
Mei Ziqing ordered a few dishes and said to Ning Shu, “These dishes I ordered have the effect of strengthening your soul.”
