Chapter 1487: Chapter 445: Gusanka Night

Chapter 445: [Night of Gusanka]

The police officer who drove back was almost on the verge of a mental breakdown.

He and several other officers were quickly sent back to the City Government building by soldiers on the traffic bridge, and afterward, this guy recounted everything that had happened.

This is how it all went down:

The police chief was ordered to take a few officers into the South District and, using the leader of a local gang they usually had dealings with as an intermediary, contacted the leader of the native religion, expressing the desire to discuss matters.

After the intermediary made contact, the police chief headed to the location designated by the other party in the South District.

That place was unremarkable, presumably just an ordinary residence. The surrounding streets were narrow and rundown—almost every street in the South District was like that.

According to the description, the chief and his team drove into the South District and arrived at a street near their destination, where their car was intercepted. The street was too narrow for a car to pass through.

But after they got out of the car, they were immediately disarmed by a group of South District locals waiting there. Even the chief was no exception; his treasured handgun was snatched away.

At that time, the chief tried to "consider the bigger picture." His thinking followed the "conventional" mindset that these South District folks wouldn’t dare to go too far, wouldn’t dare to completely turn against the Mayor’s family.

After all, the Mayor had openly deployed three trucks of armed soldiers into Gusanka City.

Whether it’s the gangsters among the poor or the religious elements, they wouldn’t risk smashing an egg against a rock.

He figured that going there for negotiations, the other side might have a tough stance, but it was merely posturing.

It was just negotiation; everyone would put on a show first, then sit down to talk, agree on terms, throw out a few scapegoats, address the needs of all parties involved, and things would blow over.

In the future, the South and North Districts would continue to coexist peacefully and maintain private contacts to prosper together.

Everybody wins!

So, even when the people blocking the road confiscated the chief’s handgun—a prized high-end piece—the chief was a bit displeased but tolerated it. He even ordered his subordinates not to resist, and all of them obediently handed over their guns.

Then, they walked down a small path and were taken into a courtyard.

The courtyard was not small, with just a single two-story building inside, made of earthen brick and stone.

About a dozen South District locals with weapons guarded the courtyard, each with a fierce expression.

Subsequently, the accompanying officers were asked to stay in the courtyard and wait, while the chief was taken into the building. The leader supposedly wanted to have a private conversation with the police chief and didn’t want to see anyone else.

While waiting in the courtyard, the disarmed officers realized something was wrong.

A dozen fierce South District locals gathered around—they started to assault the officers!

After a brutal beating, the officers were left in bad shape, but at least they weren’t killed. They were tied up with ropes.

The officers were bound like livestock and thrown into a corner, and then that chief was dragged out of the building.

Yes, "dragged" out.

Just like a dead dog.

When the chief was dragged out, he was clearly unconscious, without any signs of resistance—the storyteller couldn’t even be sure if the chief was already dead at that point.

But the scene that followed made that question irrelevant.

The chief was dragged in front of the officers, and then, a bald South District man stepped forward, lifted the chief’s body, and in front of the officers’ eyes, coldly and mercilessly severed the chief’s head with a knife!!

This scene utterly petrified the officers!

Some even wet their pants on the spot.

After all, these so-called police officers of Gusanka City weren’t any elite force; they were just some locals from the North District who had used connections to get such a lucrative job. To put it bluntly, everyone in the police department was a beneficiary of connections.

Their military skills were nearly non-existent, and their capabilities? They could barely use a weapon to intimidate ordinary civilians.

Most of them were not very educated either.

Watching their once-arrogant chief being beheaded before their eyes like livestock...

How could they not break down?

The bald man who beheaded the chief, with a cold and ruthless tone, informed the officers:

"The leader is very dissatisfied with the terms your people brought for negotiations, and the True God is very angry because of it! So, as a price, the leader ordered me to execute this negotiation representative.

Now, the leader has conveyed the True God’s will, demanding you hand over the Asian yellow-skinned person we’ve been looking for before nightfall! Otherwise, you must prepare to receive the True God’s severest punishment!!"

·

After the released officer recounted everything, everyone present was stunned!

Including the Mayor, several prominent figures of the city, and a few leaders from the municipal government—they all looked at each other in shock!

Nobody had anticipated that the South District folks would go to such extremes, behaving so insanely!

They had openly killed the police chief sent to negotiate in the South District!

This wasn’t just provocation; it was a blatant slap on the face of Gusanka City’s government, then stomp that face with the feet, including the Mayor and all the rulers of Gusanka City!
