Chapter 3119: Chapter 102: The Story of Rich and Fear (Part 2)

They stood in attendance on either side of the steps, glaring tiger-eyed at the Human Envoys, oppressive might spreading all around them, layer upon layer of pressure, as if they were bearing down on the envoys and venting their anger.

"Oriental Dawn envoy Wang Fugui, pays respect to the Great Commander."

Wang Fugui led the members of the delegation along the long central passage of the great hall, stopping before the steps below the throne and bowing upward, his attitude neither servile nor overbearing, casually ignoring all the pressure.

"For this meeting of negotiation, everything shall be decided by this deputy envoy."

As he spoke, he handed over the imperial letter from the Cangping God Emperor.

The number of envoys this time was small; the main figures were only King Heng Qi, Saint Xun Kun, and Wang Zongkun.

King Heng Qi was here to serve as the figurehead, whereas Saint Xun Kun and Wang Zongkun were "mounts" — if danger arose, at a critical moment they could carry Wang Fugui and flee.

There was no need to say much about Saint Xun Kun; she was a standard Level Fifteen Sacred Kunfish, and by relying on the Power of Laws unique to the Kun Tribe’s Space Law, her speed surpassed that of ordinary Level Sixteen experts by half a notch.

Wang Zongkun, on the other hand, had already inherited the Peak Level Sixteen Sacred Kunfish pearl left in the Dao Palace, and over these years his strength had advanced to Level Thirteen.

Though for now he had yet to fully digest the Sacred Kunfish pearl, by relying on the mighty Space Law contained within it, the speed he could erupt with in a short span was even faster than Saint Xun Kun’s.

Of course, whether it was Saint Xun Kun or Wang Zongkun, when facing a Level Seventeen powerhouse like Great Commander Dread, escape would be extremely difficult.

Great Commander Dread was also a Demon from the Demonic Clan that had dealt with the Human race for a long time. He casually accepted the imperial letter passed up by a subordinate and scanned it; a cold smile instantly appeared on his face. "You lot truly have daring. You just used despicable means to cut down my beloved confidant, the Night Devil Lord, and yet still dare to come seeking peace from me. Do you really take me, Great Commander Dread, for a lump of dough to be kneaded at will?"

He flung the letter in his hand harshly to the floor, his eyes turning sharp as he suddenly fixed them on Wang Fugui. "Still not kneeling?"

As his words fell, a violent pressure abruptly crashed down toward Wang Fugui.

King Heng Qi’s aged eyes narrowed; he hastily propped up a vast force to shield Wang Fugui.

He was an old Sacred Supreme of the Xuanyuan clan, his cultivation base already at the Advanced Stage of the Great Luo Realm. His battle strength was such that he could even clash head-on with Great Commander Dread for a time, so of course he could easily withstand mere aura pressure.

He was very clear about his mission: once crisis erupted, he was to sacrifice himself to block the Great Commander, and then let the two Kunfish carry Fugui and flee.

Thus, he had in truth come this time with the resolve to die.

He had even already entrusted his posthumous affairs to several bloodline descendants among the Principals of the Mansion of Saint King Heng Qi, just in case.

"Such courage!"

Great Commander Dread, shamed into fury, was just about to press down again when Wang Fugui’s leisurely voice rang in his ear.

"Great Commander, your days are numbered. I, Wang Fugui, have kindly come to save your life, and this is the attitude you show me?"

"Days numbered?" Great Commander Dread froze for a moment, then his anger flared even higher, and he laughed wildly. "A mere Human race brat dares spout wild words before this Great Commander?"

"Even ants cling to life. We, though merely small figures, would not come here to die at the Great Commander’s seat without at least some confidence." Wang Fugui smiled easily, looking as if everything was under control. "You, as a dignified Great Commander of the Demonic Clan, don’t even have the patience to listen to me speak a few sentences?"

Great Commander Dread stared fixedly at Wang Fugui, as though examining whether there was any truth to his words.

After several breaths, he withdrew all his pressure and coldly snorted. "Human, your courage has earned a measure of this Great Commander’s appreciation. Speak, then — why are this Great Commander’s days numbered? If I discover you’re merely trifling with me, your outcome needs no elaboration."

"Many thanks, Great Commander."

Wang Fugui seemed to have long anticipated this outcome. Unhurried, he bowed to Great Commander Dread, then straightened and looked at him with clear eyes tinged with regret. "Alas~~ Great Commander truly should not have muddied himself in this Destroyer Devil Territory affair. And you, Great Commander, are trapped in dire straits yet keenly self-aware — it truly makes one sigh."

Before Great Commander Dread could erupt in anger, Wang Fugui continued, "The first peril you face, Great Commander, is being trapped within the Destroyer Devil Territory, while your own basic foundation, the Fear Demon Field, is teetering on the brink, difficult to reinforce."

Great Commander Dread’s face tightened. "What do you mean by that? Do you believe the Human race of the North Shu God Continent will counterattack my Fear Demon Field?"

"In truth, I know that those humans of the North Shu God Continent and Great Commander have some tacit understanding between you." Wang Fugui analyzed calmly. "If Great Commander’s absence is not long, those humans naturally won’t act rashly. But if Great Commander remains away for long, or if your strength is greatly diminished, then things become uncertain."

Great Commander Dread’s expression grew somewhat gloomy and shifting. After a silent moment, he said coldly, "This Great Commander will not remain long in the Destroyer Devil Territory, and can withdraw at any time."

Alas~

Wang Fugui sighed lightly in his heart.

That sentence just now had in fact also been a probe.

The Wang family had long suspected that the North Shu God Continent was not clean, very likely entangled with Great Commander Dread or sharing a tacit understanding with him.

Now, with that one sentence from Great Commander Dread, many conjectures could be confirmed.

The only thing still uncertain now was: among the four great powers of the North Shu God Continent, just how many are involved.
