Chapter 1445 Still Master!
Chapter 1445 Still Master!
Quinlan instantly changed his attitude, admonishing himself. “Damn… What a bad master I am. I got carried away with studying these strange developments when I should’ve ensured you were okay. I’m sorry, Scar.”
He crossed the space in a few steps and knelt beside her. Her breathing was shallow. Her blue, ethereal skin was torn and marked by strain, the cost of serving as the bridge that had let his elements pass cleanly, that had let his soul and body align when it mattered most.
He slid an arm beneath her back and another under her knees, lifting.
Her weight felt truly insignificant in his arms.
Quinlan held her close.
“Thank you for always being so dependable, Scar. I sometimes get the feeling I don’t deserve you…” He said, despite her not being in a state to hear his words. “The boy is talking to an unconscious woman with his willy out for all to see,” came a male voice. “Has he snapped? What a shame…”
Quinlan lifted his head.
The pressure in the air had changed.
During the trial, the world around him had sealed off, compressed into a private battlefield where only he and Nyxara existed. The dome had blocked sight, sound, and anything resembling outside interference. Now the barrier was gone.
The dome that had wrapped the area as a second sky had collapsed without fanfare.
Open air stretched above him.
The horizon returned, and the familiar signatures of dozens of presences standing just beyond the former boundary became apparent.
People.
All of them.
His girls. His allies. The primordials.
They had formed a loose ring around the area where the dome once stood, each one staring directly at him.
At his very exposed form.
Quinlan glanced down.
“…Right,” he muttered.
The comment had come from the left.
Karl stood there with his usual pig snout, which was now wrinkled. “Synchra,” Quinlan called.
The response came instantly.
A familiar pulse moved through his body as his Anima answered.
She always did.
Heat traced across his skin in thin lines. Red fire slid over his hips and thighs first, flowing upward and downward at the same time, clinging to him like silk.
Synchra wrapped around him just like that, hiding her master’s privates from everyone’s eyes.
Just then, a streak of blonde appeared in his eyes.
Blossom crossed the distance fast enough to kick up dirt, boots skidding as she stopped right in front of him.
Then she leaned in.
And started sniffing him.
Rapid, sharp breaths against his chest, his neck, his shoulder.
Her nose brushed his skin again and again, golden ears twitching hard, blue eyes wide and unsettled.
“It’s me, Blossom,” Quinlan chuckled.
“Blossom trusts Master, but she needs to know it’s Master!” she decreed, and the sniffing continued as the dogkin used her senses to ensure the man before her was the same man who earned her eternal loyalty and love.
While that was going on, two more presences crashed into him.
“Quinnie!”
Luminara and Mearie reached him almost at the same time and pulled him into fierce embraces.
He still held Scar; her body remained limp against his chest.
Quinlan adjusted smoothly, sliding her into the crook of one arm so her head rested safely against him while his free side opened for them.
He refused to set this amazing girl down on the ground after she suffered so much for his sake.
His other arm wrapped around both women and pulled them close.
Their grip tightened instantly, fingers digging into his back and shoulder as if confirming he had truly come out of it alive.
“I told you I could do it,” Quinlan grinned.
“You’re too reckless!!” Mearie snapped, voice shaking despite the scolding tone.
Luminara pressed her forehead to his chest while clenching her fists. “That sadistic demon toyed with our son for so long… And all we could do was grit our teeth and bear with it!”
“We’ll deal with her,” Mearie added sharply.
“I don’t think there’s a need for that…” Quinlan chuckled. “She seems to be controlled pretty well.”
“I’ll still have to converse with that woman later. She deserves to be punished!” Luminara hissed.
“Sure, I suppose,” Quinlan shrugged while grinning, happy to see his mothers were still the same overly protective, loving creatures as he knew them.
While in the dome, he didn’t quite know how much time had passed. All of it meshed together into a passage of time he couldn’t follow properly.
But their reactions told him that they could see into the dome, letting them observe what was going on.
Only then did Quinlan lift his gaze toward the rest of the group.
His girls stood a short distance away, watching.
He raised an eyebrow.
“My mothers welcome me with hugs, but my wives are reluctant? Is it the markings?”
A few of them shifted on their feet.
Then Vex stepped forward with rosy cheeks. “No, Hubby… I was just busy taking your new form in.”
She looked him over again. Her blush deepened.
“You’ve somehow become even more handsome…? I didn’t know it was possible…”
She closed the remaining distance, rose onto her toes, and grabbed his collar.
Then she kissed him.
Hard.
Her lips pressed against his with zero hesitation.
“…Yeah,” she murmured against him, voice quieter. “Still you.”
Her thumb traced one of the red-black lines that had materialized along his collarbone.
“It feels different,” she admitted. “But it still feels like the love of my life… Perhaps even more so than before…?”
A loud gasp cut through the moment.
“Still Master!”
Blossom threw both fists into the air as if she’d just solved the world’s greatest mystery.
The dogkin’s ears stood straight up, tail whipping hard enough to stir dust behind her.
“Confirmed! One hundred thousand percent!”
Having declared her findings, she jumped.
Straight into his chest.
He caught her automatically, Scar secure in one arm while the other shifted to support Blossom’s waist.
She wrapped around him with legs hooking his hips, arms around his neck.
Then she planted a quick, enthusiastic kiss right on his lips.
She nuzzled his cheek once more before finally hopping down, tail still wagging like mad.
“Of course it’s still him…” Ayame’s voice drifted in, dry and even.
She stood with her hand resting lightly on her katana’s sheath out of habit.
Her sharp eyes studied him from head to toe.
“We’re just shocked, Quin… We were watching you slowly, painstakingly turn the tables on the succubus, even getting very rough at the end…”
Her gaze flicked to his mouth, to his teeth in particular.
The same teeth that had sunk into Nyxara’s neck.
“And suddenly your body changed.”
Quinlan gave her an easy smile.
“Yep. My Primordial Breeding Physique evolved after I conquered the succubus.”
“What?!” Zen shouted. He looked visibly bewildered, which was an expression mirrored on multiple primordials, telling Quinlan that he, once again, did something unprecedented. However, instead of letting himself be derailed, he just rolled one shoulder casually and replied to Ayame.
“It’s called the Abyssal Genesis Physique now.”
His delicate samurai stared at him for a long second.
“What a weird name…” she muttered.
Then she stepped into his space.
Her expression softened.
The hard samurai mask slipped away, replaced with the small, private smile she only wore around him.
She hugged him tight, then kissed him.
“But you’re still the arrogant guy who stole my heart,” she whispered against his lips. “That I can tell with absolute certainty.”
