I shut the door softly behind me. The three of us stood at the foot of the beds, looking down at the elf.

"Her fever is dropping," Mira said quietly. "She’ll live."

"That’s good." Lia crossed her arms and frowned. "But it’s strange. Elves are a high-class race. They barely mix with anyone else, and they keep to their own lands. Why would one be walking in a place like this, alone?"

"It is strange," Mira agreed. "I’ve never heard of one this far out."

I found it odd too, but I said nothing. I stared at the elf’s face for a few seconds and then looked away.

"We’ll find out when she wakes up. For now, let’s talk about what comes next." I lowered my voice. "We should head back to the palace in a few days, but not immediately. We need to rest first."

"And Leah?" Lia asked.

"She still comes with us." I rubbed my chin. "Also, I have a feeling her master wasn’t a simple man. Someone might have seen what happened tonight. They’ll probably come for us soon, so keep your eyes open."

Mira nodded. Lia sighed and rubbed her temples.

"Alright. Let’s all get some sleep. We’ll deal with it tomorrow."

We said goodnight and went to our rooms.

I walked into mine and closed the door. I let out a long breath and began to undress, my shoulders aching and my clothes stiff with dried blood. I turned on the water and took a long bath, scrubbing the blood and dirt from my skin until the water turned dark. I stood under it for a while, letting the heat soak into my muscles and pushing the memory of the alley to the back of my mind.

When I was finished, I dried my hair with a rag, wrapped a towel around my waist, and pushed open the bathroom door.

"Alright, now to finally get some..."

I froze.

My bed wasn’t empty.

Lia and Mira were sitting in it, the sheets pulled up to cover themselves, their bare shoulders showing above them. Lia had her chin resting on her hand. Mira had her legs tucked up, her long hair spilling over one shoulder. Both of them were staring right at me, their eyes slow and hungry, their smiles soft and dangerous.

My grip tightened on the towel.

"Oh shit," I muttered, I had forgotten that I made a promise.

"You made a promise, Master" Lia said while living her lip.

"I haven’t eaten you know." I tried to argue and back away, Lia dropped down from the bed and walked towards me, her hips swayed from side to side, I found myself staring at her, unable to even take my eyes off.
