Primordial Heir: Nine Stars
Chapter 498: The Primordial War
The gigantic black dragon slowly lowered its head.
Then its enormous body began to shrink.
Its scales disappeared into darkness.
Its massive limbs changed shape.
The colossal dragon gradually transformed into a humanoid figure.
In the next moment, a woman appeared, hovering not too far from Nero.
She was tall.
Even Nero, who was nearly two meters in height, had to look slightly upward to meet her gaze.
Raven-black hair cascaded down her back, almost reaching her feet.
Two curved black horns emerged from her head.
A long dragon tail swayed quietly behind her.
Her ears were long and sharply pointed, even longer than those of a High Elf such as Azalea.
And her eyes...
They were completely black.
There were no irises.
No visible pupils.
Only an endless darkness.
Her beauty was ethereal.
Sacred to the point of absurdity, yet accompanied by an extremely mature charm that made her presence feel completely different from the other Law embodiments Nero had encountered.
A faint smile appeared on her lips.
Then, without hesitation, the woman descended slightly and went down on one knee before Nero, lowering her head respectfully.
"I welcome the reincarnated Sovereign, heir to the throne of the Absolute. I am—"
Nero didn’t hear the rest.
Something snapped inside his head the moment he heard those words.
Reincarnated Sovereign.
Heir to the throne of the Absolute.
Those words alone were enough.
After everything he had experienced within the previous stars, Nero had been hoping that the sixth star would finally provide him with useful information about his existence.
And now...
He had unexpectedly encountered something far beyond what he had anticipated.
A primordial embodiment of Darkness.
And she knew something about him.
More importantly—
She had called him the reincarnated Sovereign.
Nero’s crimson eyes narrowed.
For the first time since entering the black star, his expression changed.
He wanted answers.
And this time...
He was certain he would get them.
"I’m Nyx, ruler of Darkness."
The woman finally introduced herself.
As she spoke, the darkness around her began to move.
It gathered beneath her and formed a chair made entirely from darkness.
With a simple gesture of her hand, another chair appeared across from her.
Nyx sat down calmly.
Nero remained standing for a moment before eventually taking the other seat, his eyes never leaving her.
His usually composed and rational mind was still struggling to process everything he had just heard.
Reincarnated Sovereign.
Heir to the throne of the Absolute.
Those words continued to echo inside his mind.
Nyx noticed his expression.
Unlike the previous primordial embodiments Nero had encountered, she didn’t maintain an indifferent or emotionless demeanor.
Instead, she wore a faint, almost amused smile.
She waited patiently for a while before finally speaking.
"I know you must be confused. I simply threw those words at you without giving you any explanation."
Her smile became slightly lighter.
"Judging by your reaction, the previous ones didn’t tell you much."
Nyx shook her head.
"Those old fossils..."
She sighed lightly before looking directly at Nero.
"Well, I’ll explain a little."
Nero said nothing.
He simply nodded.
His expression had returned to its usual calmness, but his attention was completely focused on Nyx.
He didn’t want to miss a single word.
Nyx leaned back slightly in her chair.
"At the beginning, there was nothing."
Her voice echoed through the endless darkness.
"Nothing but energy. An infinite and formless energy that would later be called prana."
Nero listened silently.
"Then, one day, that unlimited energy gave birth to sentient beings."
Her black eyes remained fixed on him.
"Time passed. Those beings grew, changed, and evolved. Eventually, they began to take different forms—forms capable of housing and controlling the energy within them."
"That was when the Laws were born."
Nero’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Nyx continued.
"Each of those beings became connected to a particular aspect of existence. Some governed fire. Others governed water, earth, lightning, wind, darkness, and countless other principles."
"They became the embodiments of those Laws."
"Time continued to pass."
A faint smile appeared on Nyx’s face.
"Those beings possessed something mortals could never comprehend."
"Unlimited time."
"They couldn’t grow old."
"They couldn’t die from the passage of time."
"And eventually..."
"They became bored."
Nero remained silent.
"So they decided to create something."
Nyx raised one hand.
The darkness around her shifted slightly.
"Life."
"They created a prototype world."
"Then they created life within it."
"For a while, everything went according to plan."
Her expression gradually became more serious.
"But things eventually took a chaotic turn."
"There were differences between them."
"Different beliefs."
"Different desires."
"And eventually, those differences became irreconcilable."
"They split into two factions."
Nyx paused.
"Order."
"And Chaos."
Nero’s expression remained unchanged, but his eyes became sharper.
"The division eventually led to war."
"Not an ordinary war."
"It was a war between beings who governed the fundamental Laws of existence."
"The battle destroyed everything."
"Worlds."
"Life."
"Everything they had created."
Nyx’s voice remained calm despite the scale of what she was describing.
"It became known as the Primordial War."
Silence followed.
Nero absorbed every word.
"At the end of that war, the leader of the Order faction managed to seal the members of the Chaos faction away."
Nyx’s black eyes darkened.
"Even though they possessed the lowest position among those primordial beings, they were still extremely powerful."
"Because unlike the others..."
"They didn’t govern Laws."
"They governed desire."
Nero’s gaze sharpened.
"Desire?"
Nyx nodded.
"Desire is difficult to control."
"Unlike a Law that can be understood, refined, and mastered, desire exists within every living being."
"That made them extremely difficult to fight."
"The more powerful the opponent became, the more dangerous their influence could become."
Nyx paused for a moment before continuing.
"In the end, the leader of Order sacrificed himself to seal them away."
"The seal succeeded."
"But the price was enormous."
"The leader vanished after using his existence to complete the seal."
She lowered her gaze slightly.
"The remaining members of Order survived."
"But they were no longer in good condition."
The darkness around them became completely still.
Nyx looked back at Nero.
"That was the end of the Primordial War."
She paused.
"At least..."
"That was how it was supposed to end."
