Chapter 329 - Pick
The first word of the hidden-occupations name didn't tell him anything as it was a simple 'Descendant'.
This could lead him to literally every single occupation, or even possible awakened affinity!
Had he received any more clues such as [Thundergod], [Burning], or [Tamer], Shane would have been able to comprehend some of it, but 'Descendant' didn't really provide him with any useful information.
Nevertheless, Shane couldn't complain. Instead, he was glad to have accomplished the first requirement of the hidden occupation that was the most likely to benefit him.
There were other occupations Shane had unlocked while completing his missions, with many at the [Platinum] quality, but there was none that looked as promising as the hidden occupation!
Now that he had solved the Innate taming skill's upgrade mission, Shane decided to take the next step that would allow him to become as strong as possible during the next few months.
There were around 10 months left before the Primordial Tournaments would be held, but according to the information Shane had gathered, the exact date could vary by a few months.
Knowing how dangerous the tournament was, Shane could only guess that entering the dungeon before participating in the tournament would be the best option he had.
.That is, if he wanted to reap the most benefits in an efficient way!
As such, he had to become stronger, and hence he requested another two [Platinum] missions for the mana purification techniques at a mana purity of [75%] and [80%].
This was nothing out of the ordinary and Shane could simply choose to pick the mission that was the easiest to accomplish in a short amount of time.
Furthermore, there was a low possibility that the mission that permitted him to purchase the manual with the higher mana purity was easier to solve than the one with lower mana purity, owing to external factors.
Other than that, there were certain missions that were just ill-timed, and not suitable for someone's current circumstances.
As such, Shane decided to request two missions at once.
[[Platinum] mission has been requested. <Frozen Killer> has been chosen.]
[[Frozen Killer] Kill three superior peak-awakened stage beasts that have an ice affinity. The time between each kill cannot be longer than two hours! No outside help is allowed. No time limit. Reward: Permission to purchase Mana purification manual (75%)]
[[Platinum] mission has been requested. <Herb collector> has been chosen.]
[[Herb collector] Collect five Dragonic myndra flowers at the [Rare] quality. No time limit. No purchase is allowed. Reward: Permission to purchase Mana purification manual (80%)]
While the first mission was not really difficult to solve, the second [Platinum] mission was easy, yet difficult at the same time as it depended on his luck.
Within a few months, he could easily solve the second mission because mankind possessed shelter inside a dimension that had the Dragonic myndra flowers!
However, the <Frozen Killer> mission was much better and easier to solve!
Shane knew that the radiant mountain ring inhabited many superior peak-awakened stage beasts on and around the mountain peaks because he had already seen quite a lot of them.
Others might have problems defeating a superior peak awakened stage beast but Shane had both Umbra and Cosmo by his side, while his own strength was not to be underestimated too!
As such, he couldn't help but think that solving the first mission that would reward him with the access rights to purchase the mana purification manual with 75% first was the best choice.
He would have to spend a few months to focus on completing his perfect physique and reach a mana purity of 75% before he could enter the dungeon in which he would most likely spend a few months too!
Thus, he packed up his stuff and jumped on Umbra, who slithered towards the closest Dimension Portal with a rapid pace.
Cosmo was running next to them, while using his affinity every now and then, trying to find the best way to utilize it. Now that his strength, proficiency, and overall capabilities had a stark contrast to before, he couldn't help but try to perfect himself!
-
Less than three hours later he had already entered the RadiantRing shelter that was bustling with more citizens, merchants, and hunters than he had expected.
There was a long queue in front of the Starlight guild, and Shane knew that it consisted of people who were eager to apply to become members of the guild.
Apparently, the news that 40 members of the Starlight guild had reached a mana purity of 80% and above had already spread through the basic dimension like wildfire.
Furthermore, rumors said that every single member had the best equipment one could purchase.
With that in mind, reading that every member of the Starlight guild was nurtured, trained, and supported by other guild members and the Astral Artisans caused its popularity to scale to new heights.
Only the employment contract was different from that of the other guilds.
However, the clauses mentioned in the contract weren't restrictive and overall the contract was comparatively better.
Even though their gains wouldn't be as high compared to elsewhere, the efforts one had to put in to nurture someone greatly, while handing out good equipment, skills and ways to pick the most suitable occupation was not easy, or cheap either.
Everyone who had been able to comprehend this was eager to join the Starlight guild.
What made Shane happy was that the long line he saw were only those who had applied personally, and not via the system application form which the majority of applicants chose.
'Maybe I can increase the number of guild members to 500 soon? With that number, conquering certain regions with rare materials wouldn't be a problem, let alone protecting the lumberjacks, miners, herb collectors, and so on.'
Shane's dream of building a large faction was slowly starting to take shape, and he couldn't help but smile as he left the RadiantRing shelter.
After that Umbra and Cosmo emerged from the Hidden Paradise again.
Cosmo could have stayed outside when they entered the RadiantRing shelter, but Umbra was definitely too large and scary with his length of 130 meters, along with the fact that his height and width were more than two meters.
To put it simply, Shane could understand why others were afraid of Umbra because even he would feel uncomfortable if an unknown beast were to suddenly emerge or slither past him inside the shelter.
Umbra felt bad when he sensed how Shane thought about him, but Shane quickly consoled his companion by saying that this was not how he felt, but how others might feel about him!
"If I didn't know you, I might be a little bit flustered, but we are a perfect team, did you forget??"
This caused Umbra's mood to improve, and Shane jumped on Umbra's back again before they approached the mountain range.
A few hours later, he had already found a good spot to climb up the mountain.
Umbra entered the Hidden Paradise again, while Cosmo manifested a Spatial portal in front of them and more than thirty meters above them, on a small ridge.
They emerged on it and used the same tactic over and over again before they reached a large highland plateau Shane hadn't seen earlier.
He had not expected to find a large plateau so easily, but it played into his hands.
Shane called out Umbra again, and they started to search for multiple superior peak-awakened stage beasts that lived in a herd or inhabited nearby.
There was no use in killing them instantly because the timing had to be suitable, otherwise, everything would be for naught.
As such, they kept searching for beasts through the highland plateau for the next few hours.
