Chapter 712 - 712: Meeting King Thalirion
(Somewhere in Elarion)
“Have you heard? A human is in Elarion right now…” The Bradas Inn is the primary hotspot for the latest gossip in town. If you want something dispersed swiftly, going there is a good idea.
Of course, those who want to hear the latest gossip go there to drink and walk away with the information they came for.
Nobody comes there without a reason. Today, someone brought up another hot topic, and this time, many joined in on the conversation.
“I know, right? I heard he was escorted to the king’s palace by the royal guards as soon as he entered the city.”
“I also heard that. But some are saying he severed the limbs of four Elves who came to disturb the competition and made the fifth carry them away.”
“That part is true… I was there and saw everything. He is one scary human.”
“Are all humans that scary? I don’t think I can sleep tonight after witnessing such a brutal sight.”
Words started going around, and while Kent doesn’t know it, his arrival has already reached countless people, causing both panic and intrigue among the Half-Elves. Of course, most of the words going around were exaggerated.
However, one thing was common: everyone is now aware of the presence of a human in Elarion, and that alone is enough to make many start to wonder what this means.
All they heard about this human’s arrival, they wanted to see what it meant for their kind. Is he a good fortune for standing up to the Elves, or a bad seed, one that is too rotten to have among the good seed?
—
(On the way to the King’s palace)
Kent was fascinated by the grandeur of Elarion. Every building was constructed from the finest woods, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
The buildings were elegant, and seeing how perfectly they were aligned, it was clear the formation protecting them had a central hub—somewhere everything was precisely configured and under someone’s control.
Kent was taken aback by the futuristic nature of how they had retrofitted their buildings with formations. It was as if they were prepared for unwanted visitors.
Yes.
While normal eyes couldn’t see it, Kent could perceive that every single building was part of an attacking formation—one that could easily kill a Core Formation expert if they became careless.
‘These people are careful,’ Kent thought inwardly, studying the complex formations woven into each building.
‘They have everything perfectly set up, and while I don’t have to fear soul attacks, the amount of soul energy gathered in this formation could even injure a Spirit Ascension stage cultivator.’ Kent nodded, moving in the middle of five people.
Two were on his right, two on his left, and their captain was in the front.
Kent studied their presence for a few seconds and then sighed. ‘They are not readable even by my Enchanted eyes.’
Kent wanted to see their aura to figure out what to do or how to approach the conversation when he got to the king. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t.
It seems some serious enchantment protects the guards…perhaps a formation.
‘I guess I should be prepared for anything,’ Kent said to himself.
A few minutes later, they arrived in front of an elegant gate guarded by two guards clad in the same armor as those who had come to pick him up.
The door opened, and Kent stepped into a large compound featuring many buildings. Just like the buildings outside, these were also made from the finest wood and adorned with intricate formations.
Kent didn’t have the luxury to explore the entire place, but he knew that all the formations in the city were linked to this mansion, where the king lived.
‘This place is rather interesting. Looks like I will have more fun here than I expected.’ Along the way, Kent sensed someone’s gaze on him.
It wasn’t intense or hostile, but as someone who had broken limits on his cultivation, mind, and soul, the slightest change in someone’s presence was enough to capture his attention.
Kent turned to look at who was staring at him. However, the person was quick to move away and disappear from his sight. Still, he caught the shadow of the person and knew it was a lady.
Though Kent wasn’t sure if his eyes were deceiving him, since there was no killing intent behind the gaze he felt, he knew it was all good.
After moving for a couple of minutes, they came to a stop in front of a building. From the outside, it appeared to be a rectangular-shaped structure, but Kent knew that wasn’t the case.
The building was actually a perfect square.
However, the formation made it appear rectangular. He had no idea why, but he had a few theories to explain it.
Kent circled the building in his mind, analyzing every detail he could perceive. The formation’s subtle distortion wasn’t just for aesthetics; it served a deeper purpose.
‘Perhaps it’s designed to confuse hostile intruders or disrupt enemy formation readings,’ Kent mused. ‘Or maybe it’s a strategic defense to mask the true layout from aerial or soul-based reconnaissance.’
His theory may ultimately prove unfounded, but Kent knew that the altered shape of the building held a deeper meaning.
‘Nobody in their right mind would spend countless hours weaving formations just to change the shape of a building. It must serve a greater function…’
Kent followed the guards as they entered the hall. It was spacious inside as well.
Yet, while that was obvious, Kent’s attention was drawn to the figures within. The slender man with short brown hair seated on the throne was King Thalirion, whom Kent already knew from his scan.
Besides him, there were ten others, each radiating the peak of the Core Formation stage power. Their auras had been refined so precisely that it seemed almost nonexistent.
But that was what made them dangerous—such mastery over their aura meant they had exceptional control over spiritual energy. That made them formidable.
‘This place keeps getting more impressive the more I see,’ Kent thought inwardly, stepping forward toward the king and his lords.
“My King, this is Kent Madson…” the leader of the guards announced the moment they approached the throne.
