Chapter 1393 How The Night Riders Fell

Chapter 1393 How The Night Riders Fell

Hearing that the Night Riders were killed by the Soul Temple finally made Kent realise the kind of danger they were in.

The soul temple is a threat, and he can tell that now. This means he must be wary of them for now.

He quickly led everyone to the legion tower to hear from Uncle Drew’s own mouth, since he is the one Night Rider whose memories had returned in full.

“Master, are we leaving already?” Vargus asked, already prepared to watch the youngsters in the legion battle on the 9th floor. He is a demigod, so he had no business fighting now.

But he enjoys watching them fight. It helps him analyse their fighting style and better support them during training sessions.

“No, buddy, I need to have a conversation with Uncle Drew!” Kaizo isn’t the only one who seems to like battle. Vargus is the same, and he most certainly will have his turn as they climb higher in the dungeon.

“Go ahead, young master, what do you wanna know?”

“We can start by telling me how you died during the Dark Era.”

Uncle Drew raised his brow, turning to look at the ladies standing beside Kent. Seeing they knew something, he nodded and started to reveal how the

infamous Night Riders met their end.

“Four hundred thousand years before the Dark War, we received a mission from the Celestial Council to kill a powerful cultivator known by all as the Ruthless Bandit.”

The ladies turned and looked at Kent. When he woke up a couple of weeks ago, he talked about the life he had just started recalling. However, he failed to mention that it was the life of the Ruthless Bandit.

But, a couple of hours ago, Unity asked, and he had no choice but to tell them he was the Ruthless Bandit, one of the most evil people ever to walk the face of the universe.

Now, however, they couldn’t help looking at him with varied expressions when it was revealed that the Night Riders were the ones sent after him, thanks to his ruthless reputation.

“What happened next?”

“We accepted the mission since we had already made plans to go after him long before the mission came. So all 69 of us prepared and embarked on this mission-a mission that would change everything we knew about the universe.

It took us ten years to track him down, and when we did, we attacked, and for thirty days, we fought. Within those thirty days, sixty-seven were injured to the point that raising their fingers was impossible.

The only ones that held on were the Veil Lady and me,” Uncle Drew paused again and looked at Nara, giving her a smile.

“On the thirtieth day, she also fell, and on the thirty-first, I also reached my limit. It was the closest we came to death. However, instead of killing us, the Ruthless Bandit tattooed something on our bodies and left us.

Three days after he left, the Celestial Council sent another team to come and wipe us out. That team was later found out to be from the Soul Temple.”

“What?” Kent was taken aback, his mind spinning as he tried to come to an understanding of what Uncle Drew was saying.

“Are you trying to say the Righteous Faction and the Soul Temple are in bed together?”

“No. But the Righteous Faction uses them occasionally to take care of all who aren’t walking in the line they had drawn. They just had to leak their location, and the Soul Temple would handle the rest.

Again, we survived because the Ruthless Bandit saw the betrayal coming and used us as bait to get his hands on the Soul Temple.

However, by saving us, both the Righteous Faction and the Soul Temple became his enemies. Years later, he became our leader because, just like him, they were after us too.

It took some time to adjust to his way of life.

As you all know and might have heard, the Ruthless Bandit was indeed a ruthless being. He doesn’t care how many he had to kill to get what he wanted… even if it meant killing the only daughter of the Supreme Celestial.”

Yet again, the ladies turned and looked at Kent, causing him to blush… “I have no idea or memory that I did something like that. But even if I did, I am sure there is a reason for it… right?”

Uncle Drew smiled. “No, young master, you just felt like killing her to anger her father, and so you did.”

“I guess I was a scum,”

“The biggest scum,” Lene said with a giggle.

She used to fear the Ruthless Bandit, especially after she found out their battle with him was fought with half his strength. So now that Kent is all calm and innocent, she wouldn’t waste the chance to enjoy him while she still could.

“So by killing Lady Celestial, the Righteous Faction came after you and, in extension, us. For three hundred thousand years plus, we never had a moment

of peace.

However, when the Dark Creatures came, and the universe was in danger, we stopped running and decided to fight. The Righteous Faction was occupied, so

they stopped chasing us.

However, the Soul Temple didn’t stop. So at the climax of the battle, when you were locked in with the last Dark General, they struck.

You were so close to winning, but because of them, you lost the one advantage you had. With that advantage gone, it was either you die, and the universe perish, or you do the unthinkable and save the universe.”

“What did I do?”

“Well, you did the unthinkable like always… Your death saved the universe, but

it came at the expense of ours.

To kill the Dark General, you ignited your soul, and the blast killed both enemies and allies alike, which included the sixty-nine Night Riders.”

“So I killed my own team,” Kent said, his expression turning dull. Hearing he was the cause of the Night Riders’ deaths soured his mood.

“It is not that simple, young master. You were the only one who stood against seven Dark Generals. You killed six and were close to killing the seventh. That time, the Righteous Faction had every chance to come to your aid. But because of their overinflated ego, they chose not to. In the end, it was either you die and let the universe fall into ruin.

Believe me, judging by how the universe had treated you, abandoning it was the most logical decision you could have made. But deep within you, that sense of justice still remained, so you made a decision, and it saved us all.

The universe stood, and we still lived, so there is no reason to blame you.

If it hadn’t been because of you, all sixty-nine of us would be dead or worse, imprisoned somewhere, undergoing torture over and over again.

So you saved the universe, and in return, saved us, too.

I am sure when you recall all your memories, everything will make sense.”

“Uncle Drew is right.”Lene stepped in, “You were many bad things, but there seems to be a reason for everything you did. Even killing Lady Celestial had proven how demented and rotten the Supreme Celestial was when he stood on the side and watched you endure all the load of the Dark Era.

He could have helped you carry some of the load. But he just stood on the side and watched everything come crashing down.”

Kent nodded, then he vanished, appearing in the Sword Tower. None of his

wives followed him because they knew he needed a moment to process what

he had just learned.

He expected to hear the Soul Temple killed the Night Riders, as they claimed,

but it seems he was the one who did the killing.

“AAAAAARRRGGHH”

His scream filled the Sword Tower…
