"Well, this place is a mess. This is the base you guys wanted to come back to?" Zei whistled as he looked around, holding the gun carelessly over his shoulder.

"Careful with that." Jai pushed the barrel away from his face with an annoyed look. His gaze soon fell to the bloody mess spread across the ground. There were dark stains everywhere, some already dried while others still looked disturbingly fresh. "It looks like this happened only recently."

He squatted down and placed one hand against the ground.

For a few seconds, he remained completely still.

Multiple vibrations traveled through the earth and into his arm, allowing him to sense the movement beneath the surface. There were numerous things moving around inside the compound. Some were slow and uneven, while others were moving much faster.

Then he felt them.

Footsteps.

A lot of them.

They were rushing straight toward their direction.

Jai’s expression immediately became serious. "There are about a hundred coming directly our way."

"I’ll be up in the vantage point." Zei casually climbed onto the side of a nearby house, finding a good position from which he could see over the street. Once he reached the roof, he crouched down and readied his gun before giving them a quick signal.

Yunfeng nodded.

"Jai, stay behind me."

"I can just bury them right now." Jai frowned and stepped forward, already preparing to use his power.

"No. You need to reserve your energy. What if something else more dangerous is in there?" Yunfeng pushed his best friend back slightly before stepping forward himself.

The moment he activated his power, his eyes began glowing a bright shade of blue. Electric energy surged through his body, crackling around his arms and fingertips as his entire presence changed.

Then the zombies came.

A large horde suddenly dashed out from behind the houses, their rotten bodies moving at an alarming speed as they rushed straight toward them.

Yunfeng didn’t wait for them to get closer.

He lunged forward.

His hand tore through the first zombie that reached him, and the moment his fingers made contact, a violent burst of electric energy surged through its body. The zombie convulsed before collapsing to the ground.

Yunfeng didn’t even stop.

He simply had to touch them.

That was all it took for the electricity to travel through their bodies and destroy their brains.

He dashed straight into the horde, moving with enough speed that the zombies barely had time to react. One after another, they fell beneath his hands as bright flashes of electricity illuminated the street.

Jai remained behind him, watching carefully while resisting the urge to use his own power.

Yunfeng quickly cut through the majority of the horde, but a few zombies managed to slip past him.

They changed direction and rushed straight toward Jai.

Jai immediately prepared himself to attack when several loud gunshots suddenly rang through the compound.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The zombies stumbled and dropped one after another before they could reach him.

Panting slightly, Yunfeng glanced upward.

Zei was still crouched on the roof, calmly aiming his gun toward the remaining zombies. When their eyes met, the man simply winked before turning his attention back to his targets and continuing to fire at anything that got too close to Jai.

Jai looked up at him for a moment before snorting.

"Show-off."

Another shot rang out.

The last zombie collapsed.

Within a short time, the entire horde that had rushed toward them had been wiped out.

Hundreds of zombies lay scattered across the street, and the compound fell silent once again.

Yunfeng slowly lowered his hand, the blue glow in his eyes fading as he looked toward the deeper part of the base. The street ahead was filled with dead zombies, but somehow, that wasn’t what caught his attention.

He could sense something.

Something was waking up.

It was difficult to describe. It wasn’t simply another group of zombies moving around. There was a strange presence buried deeper inside the compound, something that seemed to have noticed their arrival. The moment they had entered, it felt as though they had disturbed something that had been quietly sleeping.

Jai stepped forward, but Yunfeng immediately stopped him.

"What? Is something wrong?"

"Don’t you sense it?" Yunfeng’s expression became serious. "Something more dangerous is in there... Jai, I think you should go back."

Jai simply raised a brow.

"Don’t be an idiot. I can handle myself." He paused for a moment, his expression suddenly changing as he felt another vibration beneath his feet. "More are coming this way."

Yunfeng didn’t have time to argue.

He hurried forward and met the new horde head-on. His blue energy surged through his body again as he tore into the approaching zombies, taking them down one after another before they could get close.

Zei immediately moved toward a nearby building, climbing into position so he could shoot down any zombies that managed to escape Yunfeng’s attack.

Jai simply stood there and watched, his mouth pressed into a thin line.

Yes, he was an omega, but that didn’t mean he needed to be protected like some fragile person who couldn’t defend himself. With his powers, he could easily take these things down within seconds. Yunfeng didn’t need to waste so much energy protecting him.

He tapped his foot impatiently against the ground as he watched the two of them attack and kill every single zombie that came their way.

One after another, the zombies fell.

By the end, the street was once again littered with bodies.

Yunfeng stood in the middle of it all, breathing slightly harder than before. Blood and gore covered him from head to toe, and even his white hair had been stained pink from the mess.

Jai stared at him for a moment with a completely bored expression.

"Can we go now?"

Yunfeng looked down at himself.

"...Yeah, yeah."

He wiped at his face, only succeeding in smearing some of the blood across his cheek.

Jai’s mouth twitched.

Yunfeng ignored him and looked up toward the building. "Zei, come down. I don’t sense any nearby. We’re progressing inward."

A moment later, Zei jumped down from the building, casually landing beside them with his gun still in hand.

The three of them continued deeper into the compound.
