Chapter 652: Chapter 650: Tripping on Poisonous Mushrooms, Hahaha
By the time Celeste Grant emerged from her room, three days had already passed.
The afternoon sun shone brightly in the courtyard.
Beneath a tree, Celeste Grant stood with a hand on her lower back, sighing. She lifted her head slightly, her gaze drifting to a flower on a distant branch, which was swaying precariously in the wind. ’Just as miserable as me,’ she thought.
’Three days...’
"My back..."
At that moment, Celeste Grant came to a profound realization.
’Never casually tease an old man. You won’t be able to handle the consequences.’
"This is giving me a headache."
A figure appeared silently beside her. A hand snaked around her from behind, pulling her into an embrace. As Celeste’s body settled against his, she felt him rest his head against the side of her face. "What is my dear wife sighing about?"
Celeste flinched, shrinking away at the sound of his voice. Her mind was suddenly filled with all sorts of inappropriate images. She raised her hands to cover her ears. "My ears have been sullied."
A low chuckle rumbled by her ear as he wrapped his arms tightly around her. "This is wonderful. I wouldn’t mind spending an eternity like this." ’In his long, long life, he was finally no longer alone.’
"Celeste Grant."
He murmured her name.
Celeste hummed in response, glancing at him from the corner of her eye.
"What is it?"
He murmured,
"Thank you for coming into my life."
Celeste giggled.
"Oh, stop it, you’re being so sappy! Javier Sinclair, you’re supposed to be a fearsome Demon, the lord of countless legions. Look at you now. You don’t look like a Demon at all."
Javier Sinclair raised an eyebrow.
"Then what do I look like now?"
Celeste giggled again.
"A big puppy."
’The kind who’s always hugging me and calling me his "dear wife."’
He chuckled and planted a kiss on her cheek.
Just as the two were enjoying their lovey-dovey moment, a frantic squawking came from overhead.
"AAAAAH... I can’t stop! Daddy, Mommy, save me!"
Celeste looked up to see a large goose diving straight down from the sky. Its trajectory was aimed at the lotus pond not far in front of them. A little girl in red was sitting on the goose’s back—it was her daughter.
"Elise Sinclair, what have you gotten yourself into now?"
As cute as her daughter was, there were times when this old mom’s patience wore thin—like when her "darling" daughter was up to no good. She quickly used magic to steady the flailing goose, changing its course so it landed right in front of them.
"HONK..."
The goose hit the ground.
Feathers flew everywhere.
The little girl’s clear, childish voice rang out. "Oof... That scared me to death." A small figure slid off the goose’s back. The little girl stood up, two goose feathers perched on top of her head.
She shook her head and looked up. Before Elise Sinclair’s eyes, two large geese appeared. "A goose! It’s a goose... but the colors are a little different."
Celeste reached out and plucked a stray feather from her clothes.
"Elise Sinclair."
The little girl’s eyes widened.
"The goose is calling my name... but it sounds like Mommy. My head’s so dizzy... everything’s spinning."
Seeing this,
Celeste’s lip twitched in exasperation. She could tell her daughter was hallucinating. Even though it didn’t seem serious, as a mother, Celeste couldn’t help but worry.
"Ellie, look at Mommy. How many fingers am I holding up?" She held up one finger. "You silly girl, what did you do? What did you eat? Javier Sinclair, hold her down! We need to make her throw it up, now."
The little girl stared at her with wide, innocent eyes. Her gaze fell on Celeste’s hand. "It’s a wing. Mommy has a wing."
The little girl giggled, swaying unsteadily. "Hehe, Mommy, why did you turn into a big goose? And your feathers are light purple! They’re so pretty. Is this a new spell? I want to learn! Teach me, Mommy!"
Celeste was speechless. "..."
"Well, thank you so much for noticing how pretty your mother is, even while you’re hallucinating."
Seeing the little girl swaying in front of them, Javier Sinclair quickly reached out and caught her. "Be good, sweetie. Daddy’s going to help you get it out, and you’ll feel better in no time."
In the little girl’s vision, all she saw was a big black goose grabbing her. "Let go of me, goose! Why are you grabbing me? Big White, get him away from me!"
Javier Sinclair didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
"Look closely. It’s me, your daddy."
Hearing this, the little girl clapped her hands gleefully. "The goose is my daddy! My daddy is a goose! Wow, that’s so cool! Daddy, it really is your voice. Geese can hatch eggs. Can you hatch eggs?"
Javier Sinclair’s composure finally cracked.
’Hatch eggs...’
Him? The magnificent Demon God, hatching eggs? ’The image is too horrifying to contemplate.’
’Calm down,’ he told himself. ’She’s my own daughter.’
’This is my beloved little princess, my sweet girl. I can’t spank her.’
Javier Sinclair knelt, turning his daughter over and laying her across his lap. Celeste’s hands moved quickly, performing a spell and tapping her on the back. A moment later, their daughter retched, spitting up a pile of miscellaneous things. ℴℴ𝗺
It was even emitting a poisonous vapor.
Celeste glanced at the ground.
’Good heavens.’
She had to hand it to her little princess—most people wouldn’t dare to eat the things now lying on the ground.
A quick look revealed scorpions, centipedes... and several types of hallucinogenic mushrooms. What’s more, they were the kind of poisonous mushrooms used for refining poison in the Cultivation World—the pretty kind you should never eat. ’Where on earth did she get this stuff?’ she wondered.
Seeing his daughter vomit until tears streamed from her eyes, Javier Sinclair’s heart ached. He gently stroked her head. "Let’s see if you dare to eat random things again."
Once she had thrown up everything,
little Elise Sinclair was finally clear-headed again. She looked up at her parents.
"Daddy... I feel awful."
Javier Sinclair gently patted her back. "You feel awful now, do you? You see these things? Are they something you should just eat?"
The little girl scrambled off her father’s lap. She knew she’d done something wrong. She glanced at her mother, then her father. "Oh, Big White ate some too."
Celeste’s gaze fell on Big White, who was lying nearby. The goose was shaking its head back and forth, foaming at the beak. Her daughter had probably tricked it into eating a good amount.
"Poor Big White."
Celeste was completely serious. Big White and her daughter had a bond forged through countless near-death experiences since they were little.
Celeste raised her hand and performed a spell on the large goose. A shimmer of light enveloped the bird, and it too opened its beak and spewed out a pile of stuff. It was clearly the same concoction her daughter had eaten.
Soon, Big White was back to normal as well.
The big goose bowed repeatedly in Celeste’s direction before turning and tearing off as fast as its legs could carry it. ’If I don’t run now,’ it thought, ’I’ll fall into that little witch’s clutches again and lose a few years off my life!’
Seeing Big White bolt, the little girl yelled after it.
"Big White, don’t go!"
"It was just an accident! I’ll make you something even tastier next time! It’s guaranteed to raise your cultivation! Trust me!"
"HONK HONK HONK..."
In the blink of an eye, the goose’s figure flew off and vanished.
