Pregnant Bunny, Obsessed Beast Husbands
Chapter 489 "It’s You Who Doesn’t Want Me Anymore.
She was the only one left in the dining room.
Yu Zhizhi felt her legs go a little weak. She slowly placed her feet on the floor and climbed down from the table.
Outside the door, Ai Xi asked softly, "Ms. Zhi Zhi, are you all right?"
Prince Merfolk had just left. His expression hadn’t been good when he departed; it looked as if he’d had a conflict with the Lady Lord.
Yu Zhizhi steadied her breathing and walked toward the door.
"I’m fine..."
Her eyes were red. Ai Xi froze for a moment when she saw them, then quickly handed her a tissue.
’Did they really have a fight?’
Ai Xi had thought that on the first day of Prince Merfolk’s arrival, he and Ms. Zhi Zhi would be inseparable. She remembered when Master Spider came, he and Ms. Zhi Zhi had stayed in their room for several days before coming out.
Although she didn’t know what it was about, Ai Xi offered some comfort:
"Perhaps things will be better tomorrow. Ms. Zhi Zhi, you must be very tired today. Would you like to take a bath?"
Yu Zhizhi had undertaken a long, arduous journey, only to be met with an enemy attack the moment she returned to her territory.
She was indeed exhausted.
After returning to her bedroom, she went to the bathroom to take a bath.
But her mind was constantly on Sensen. ’Where did he go?’
’He wouldn’t... just leave the territory, would he?’
Yu Zhizhi’s heart was filled with anxiety.
After her bath, she changed into a long, white nightgown and sat on the armchair, holding a spirit card that could dry her long hair.
Yu Zhizhi called for Ai Xi.
"Prince You Sen, he..."
"He’s by the sea," Ai Xi reported truthfully.
"Is he leaving?" Yu Zhizhi asked hastily.
"I didn’t see a ship, so I don’t think so," Ai Xi replied. "He probably just wants to feel the night breeze. Ms. Zhi Zhi, you should get some rest."
Although Yu Zhizhi was also sleepy, how could she possibly fall asleep without seeing Yusen?
’Should I go find him by the sea?’
’Or should I wait for him to come back here in the room?’
Yu Zhizhi hesitated for a moment, then decided to go to the room and wait for Sensen to return.
’I want to see him right now, but maybe he needs some time alone at a moment like this.’
Yu Zhizhi went to the room next door.
Ai Xi had prepared this room for Yusen long in advance.
She sat on the two-meter-wide bed. Since no one had stayed in it yet, the room was neat and tidy everywhere. She touched the soft bedding, then slowly lay down and curled up.
Later that night, Yusen returned.
The moment he entered the room, he saw the little rabbit curled up on the bed. His steps faltered slightly. With calm eyes, he walked to the bedside and watched her, motionless.
Yu Zhizhi had waited for a long time. Even when she slept, it was a light sleep, and she had woken up several times.
When she felt the bed dip beside her, she stirred, waking groggily. She smelled Yusen’s unique scent, a mixture of frost and the ocean.
Yusen didn’t speak. He turned his back to her and lay down on the other side of the bed.
Yu Zhizhi was instantly wide awake.
She opened her eyes. In the darkness of the night, even Yusen’s breathing became distinct. After hesitating for a long time, she slowly turned over and gently touched his back with her fingers.
"Sensen, you... you’re back." Her voice was very, very soft.
’I couldn’t sleep well at all.’
Yu Zhizhi was afraid that Yusen, in a fit of anger, would leave the territory and return to the Deep Sea Empire.
Yusen’s breath hitched, but he didn’t respond.
Yu Zhizhi slowly pressed her forehead against his back. She knew Sensen was unhappy because she couldn’t give him the promise he wanted.
The tip of her nose tingled, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.
She quietly pressed herself against the Mermaid Youth, crying silently. Yusen felt the warmth and dampness on his back, and the little female’s gently trembling body.
His fists slowly clenched at his sides. His voice was hoarse. "Shouldn’t I be the one crying? What are you crying for?"
Faced with Yusen’s question, Yu Zhizhi only cried harder.
Yusen took a slow breath, trying his best to suppress his crumbling emotions. The moment he shifted, the little rabbit behind him quickly wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Sensen, don’t go..." Yu Zhizhi’s voice was choked with sobs.
Yusen’s body stiffened slightly. He could feel the arms clasped tightly around his waist; the little rabbit was holding him with all her strength.
He paused for a few seconds, a bitter feeling spreading through his chest. "I’m not trying to leave. You’re the one who doesn’t want me anymore."
’You’re the one who doesn’t want me anymore.’
’Why aren’t you willing to be with me forever?’
’You once said you were happy that I came into this world. You were happy to have met me. So why can’t we be together forever?’
’Did I do something wrong? Did I make you unhappy?’
Yusen’s eyes burned. "Why don’t you want me?"
Yu Zhizhi hugged him even tighter. "No, no, how could I not want you? I just—"
’I just... can’t make a promise.’
’Because I don’t know how long I’ll be here.’
’I don’t know what will happen after the mission is complete.’
’I don’t know if I’ll suddenly leave this world and return to the place I came from.’
’I don’t know if I’ll be erased for failing the mission and disappear completely.’
’I can’t make you any promises.’
’Because I...’
Yu Zhizhi’s tears fell like pearls from a broken string. She held onto Yusen, sobbing softly.
’If making a promise means lying to you, then I don’t want to say it. I won’t say it.’
Yusen heard the little female’s tearful reply, her words cut short, followed by tears that wouldn’t stop.
A large patch of his shirt on his back was soaked through.
’Just... Just what?’
’Why won’t she finish the sentence?’
Yusen waited for a while. The thought that the little rabbit wanted to leave him filled his heart with boundless sorrow. He was a little angry, but hearing her cries made his heart clench in pain.
His breathing grew heavy. He placed his hands on her forearms and pried her arms off him.
Yusen turned over. He looked at the little rabbit with her red, swollen eyes and asked, word by word, "Tell me. When do you plan on leaving me?"
"Tell me your plan right now."
"Let me prepare myself."
Yu Zhizhi’s sobs gradually subsided. She looked at the Mermaid Youth before her with tear-filled eyes. His ice-blue eyes were heavy, like a pool of stagnant water.
But faintly, she could see a glimmer of Light in them.
Like the glint of tears.
Yu Zhizhi shook her head. "...I don’t know."
Yusen’s tone was still stiff. "You don’t know?"
Yu Zhizhi buried her face in his chest. Yusen didn’t push her away, and she hugged him again. "Sensen, I’m scared..."
She was scared.
She was afraid of Yusen getting angry, afraid of him leaving.
She was afraid of failing her mission, and yet she was also afraid of completing it.
She was afraid of new missions.
She was even more afraid of having missions that would never end...
She had nowhere to voice the panic she felt, the fear of being erased at any moment.
All Yu Zhizhi wanted was to seek a sliver of comfort from the Mermaid Youth before her.
"Don’t go..." It was all she could say.
Yusen didn’t know what she was afraid of, but the moment he saw the little female shrink into his arms, his throat tightened, and his arms uncontrollably wrapped around her in return.
The little rabbit was trembling.
Yusen slowly stroked her hair and lowered his head to kiss her temple. He wanted to cry too, but right now, what he wanted more was to comfort her.
Even though he didn’t know the reason for her fear...
But Yusen could sense that a part of that reason came from him.
"I won’t go." Yusen’s chin gently brushed against the top of the little female’s head, and he softly kissed her rabbit ear.
He felt the little rabbit’s trembling gradually subside under his comforting touch.
