Governor Goldsmith’s POV

I’m getting tired of this place.

There is truly no place like home, and there is no reason to enjoy an expensive vacation when my boy is so far from me.

Poor Noah.

With a sigh, I fold my arms across my chest and pop a piece of apple into my mouth.

My dear boy, my precious blue-eyed son, is still so far away from me and I would need help to get him back.

It’s sad that I couldn’t have fought for him. Fighting for him would be equal to asking for death and poverty.

"Mr. Goldsmith" two sharp knocks on the door breaks me out of my thoughts, and I sit up.

"Come in" I call out and the door opens.

The person at the door is the personal attendant provided for me by the hotel. She’s a very busty redhead with pretty eyes and plump lips.

"Yes, Penelope?" I ask, pushing my hair back to show her my good looks.

I may be old and grey with a potbelly, but it doesn’t change the fact that I am a handsome man.

"There’s a package for you" the omega says as she bends forward at the foot of the bed.

She could have simply handed the package over to me, but she chose to give me an eyeful of her youthful breasts.

It’s a shame she’s not a Winslow omega. She would look good with humility in her eyes, and submission in her body language.

She would look even better when she’s bred and tied up.

My vacation lover, my secretary, slaps my bare chest in jealousy at how long I’ve been staring.

"I’m right here you know" she huffs.

"And my wife is somewhere in the world, take a walk" I snap at her.

These women never know when to shut up. A Winslow textbook can fix them. Did she forget that I dropped my personal assistant in order to choose her?

"What’s in the package" my secretary, Yasmin, asks and the redhead woman gives her a glare before turning her attention to me.

"Open it" I say and she eagerly unwraps the package.

It’s a golden jewelry box. At the sight of the golden box, my secretary sits up and moves closer to me, letting the blanket fall off her naked chest.

"Oh...something for me, baby?" she asks and my eyes dip to her stiff nipples, but the other woman shakes the box to get my attention.

"What’s in it?" I ask and the redhead opens the lid of the box, gasping dramatically at what is within.

It’s a claiming collar with my son’s name as the front design. It’s made of pure gold with diamond stones decorating each letter that spells out NOAH.

"Governor? What’s it for?" my secretary asks and I immediately sit up straighter in the bed.

This gift box is a declaration. It’s a reminder of a document I signed years ago. Damn it. I forgot all about it.

"Governor?" Yasmin calls.

"It’s my son’s birthday" I give the simple answer as I get out of the bed in panic.

"Of course it’s Noah’s birthday, did you forget?" the woman asks and ignore her.

"Get out of the room" I say and the two women stare at me in confusion.

"Both of you get out, I have to make an important call" I say and they both give me a funny look.

The hotel’s redhead leaves first, and my secretary follows after putting on her clothes.

I rush to the bedside table to pick up my phone. As I unlock the device, I see that there is already a missed call waiting for me.

I dial the number and the second he accepts the call; I let out a hearty laughter.

"Partner" I say in a loud and overtly happy voice, and I am greeted with a grunt from the man on the other end.

"Did you get my gift?" he asks.

"It’s very lovely collar" I say, looking at the box on the bed, and he hums.

"Make him try it on" he says and I laugh awkwardly. He wants Noah to try on the collar, but it’s impossible.

"I’m sure you see the news, don’t you, partner?" I ask and he hums again.

My business partner is fond of humming instead of speaking and it irritates me. It feels like he’s looking down on me.

"Your city being raided was bound to happen" he says and I drop the fake laughter.

"Are you saying I deserved it?" I ask with a growl, gripping the phone harder than I should and my partner makes that humming sound again.

"Are you saying you didn’t deserve it? Everyone knows the Deus boys adore their mother. When you spoke ill of the Siren, you should have expected an attack" he says and I bark a laughter.

"Insanity" I spit out.

I only told the truth. Siren is a bitch and nothing more. He’s a bitch given too much power.

Not all male omegas should be permitted to sit in a meeting room, and even when one sits at the table, their lips are meant to be sealed.

Noah learned that lesson well.

He started training to be a model omega husband at an early age and it was starting to pay off before the Deus attacked. My boy has sat at a few business meetings and never said a word.

Those damn Deus.

"So, where is my husband-to-be, governor?" my partner asks and I look at the box again.

"You’re late, I already gave him to the Gods" I say.

"Are you trying to offend me, governor? I have a very bad temper" he says and I laugh.

"They were going to burn the city to crisps, okay? They were going to turn our business place upside down and damage unused products, I had to give them Noah as a bargaining chip" I explain and I hear him roar.

"Noah is mine! I bought him years ago. Have you forgotten, you fool?"

"No need to use insulting words" I say through clenched teeth, angry at the disrespectful tone he’s addressing me with.

"Do you think it is enough to say an apology over the phone?" he asks.

"I have a plan to get my son back, and I know you can also bring him back...am I wrong?" I ask.

"Hurry with whatever plans you have, governor, or else" my partner growls and I scoff.

"Do you have time for a dinner date?" I ask and the line goes silent.
