Elias’s POV

Sixty-two hours and I’m starting to get very impatient.

It’s been two days, fourteen hours and Noah has turned himself into a sad piece of rock.

I don’t understand him.

He asked me to go away, but when I wash him up, he asks me not to let go.

Studying him hasn’t been helping.

I kept my chair right in front of him. I kept waiting for him to talk, but he still didn’t talk to me.

Mom says he’s in shock. Fine then, I’ll bring him out of shock. If this new method doesn’t work, I’ll get him pregnant.

I barge into Lucas’s bedroom. I lean against the wall and fold my arms.

"Lucas" I say, and the man who is lying like a starfish on his bed lifts his head to eye me.

"Gee, come in Elias. You’re highly welcome, no I’m not wanking or anything. Oh wait, my bad, I can’t wank" he says with a dull tone.

He sounds too much like Kai.

Annoying.

"I’m on break" he says and drops his head back to the bed, still cursing me out for interrupting him.

"I need those songs" I say flatly and he lifts his head again. My guard frowns at me in confusion. "What songs?" he asks.

"Those songs that make Noah laugh" I say and Lucas sits up, wearing a smile that makes him look like Cheshire cat.

"Say ’I love Noah’, and I swear I’ll help" he says.

And without wasting further time, I pull out my gun and aim at the center of his brows.

"Repeat that" I say and cock the gun.

"Fuck, man, it’s not that deep" he says, rolling out of the bed and glaring at me.

Lucas lives his life on teasing me. So I always have to be prepared to deal with him. He and Damien are the same people in different bodies.

"The songs, Lucas" I say, still aiming the gun at him.

"I don’t know man. It’s just regular pop songs" he says and I tilt my head. I can’t relate. I never listen to music.

I enjoy silence...spending almost a year in a closed room with hundreds of unpredictable and noisy objects can ruin your headspace.

"You live in the big twenty-first century. We have cars, phone, and there’s this thing called the internet" Lucas says, demonstrating dramatically.

I wave the gun side to side. Reminding him of his position. I will shoot him in the crotch for the fun of it.

"Look, if you’re going to play a song on full volume and expect him to feel better, you might as well forget it" Lucas sighs, dropping the teasing tone.

"What else am I supposed to do?" I ask.

"Try talking to him, conversations are romantic and stuff" my guard says.

Romantic?

"You are misinterpreting me, Lucas" I put my gun down to explain. "If I have a diamond, I expect it to shine" I say.

"Yeah well, you have enough money to throw it away and buy another one. Don’t you?" he asks and I have no answers.

I always have a logical answer for everything, but not today.

Fuck.

Maybe Noah is more than a diamond that isn’t shining as it should.

Is it too early to admit that I care about him? But I don’t know how normal unbroken people do it.

"Just give me the songs" I say and he sighs. "Give me your phone, grandfather" he says and I remind myself not to spill blood on my mom’s carpet.

"Here" I hand the device over to him and he starts to type. I watch him mutter and roll his eyes for a few seconds before he hands it back.

"Good luck" he says mockingly, blowing kisses at me.

"Shut up" I hit him with the end of my gun and he starts to laugh, cupping his nose to stop blood from dripping to the floor.

"Asshole" he keeps laughing.

Idiot.

I make my way back to my room and open the door.

Noah is still lying on the bed. He’s folded into himself and staring into space. His scent is muted with his mood.

I’ll fix him. I’ve always fixed everything I own.

I walk over to the bed.

With a single click, I start to play the song Lucas searched up and I hold my phone in Noah’s face.

Noah’s POV

I was thinking of my sad life when suddenly; Rodeo by Lah Pat featuring Flo Milli, is being played in my face.

I am completely mortified as I jerk backwards, moving away from the phone and Elias.

What is this?

"What are you doing?" I yell and the alpha stares at me with those cold but confused eyes.

"I’m cheering you up" he says and my jaw drops as a particularly nasty line rings out.

"TURN IT OFF" I throw my pillow at his chest and just like that, I can’t find the depression that had been sitting on my chest and choking me.

"What’s wrong with the song..."

He pauses just in time to hear the very explicit line about the singer being deep inside someone who’s riding him like a pony.

"...oh" he says and throws the phone across the room.

Why is this man like this?

"Goddess. You’re really something" I say, holding my laughter as I fall back into the bed and he clears his throat.

"How do you feel?" he asks.

How do I feel? I wrap my arms around myself and give him a small smile as I remember he came to cheer me up.

"You...you were playing the song to cheer me up?" I ask and he nods, jaws clenching as he clears his throat again.

I guess he’s as embarrassed as I am about the ’cheer up’ song he just played.

"I’ll be back" he says abruptly and turns around.

"Where are you going?" I ask, surprised at how fast my body moves with him.

He hasn’t been talking to me for two days, and it’s pathetic, but I don’t want to lose his presence.

"I’m going to kill Lucas. I’ll be back soon" he says and I drop my hands in my lap.

"Can you stay with me?" I ask and bite my tongue as soon as the words are out of my mouth.

’Damn it, Noah. Very brilliant and definitely not embarrassing. In fact, very classy. Very governor son coded’ I say to myself in my head.

"You want me to stay?" Elias asks like I’m asking for something impossible.

Maybe it’s impossible, but he said he’d do anything I want...right?

"Yeah...stay and talk with me" I manage to say.

Maybe I’ll be able to convince him to let me go when I tell him all of my bad desires.
