Elias’s POV

Fuck.

I slam the door too hard and curse myself under my breath for doing that.

It’s a good thing I can’t see how Noah looks through the tinted window right now. If I could, I might end up throwing everything to the wind just to hold him in my arms.

I’m possessive, I know. But this is different.

Noah makes me have urges I’ve never had before now.

Freya the priestess is coughing out blood and saliva. Her voice is hoarse from screaming for a savior who will never come.

Did Noah scream as loud as she’s doing? Did she plan to pity him or let him go?

She had the guts to touch what belongs to death, and I will give her the full punishment for it.

"Lift your head for me" I say quietly as I stop in front of her, and she lifts her head. She’s panting and staring at me with red-rimmed eyes.

"Please...I...I will do anything" she says with a hoarse voice.

Maintaining eye contact with her, I hold the wooden part of the screwdriver in my left hand, and tuck the silver gun into my waist band.

"Why did you take him?" I ask her with the same quietness as I squat in front of her.

"He’s just...it’s his destiny" she says.

She’s looking at me with wild and desperate eyes. And without a word, I take her chin in my hand and tip her head backwards.

"Please..." she gasps in surprise at her new position.

In this angle, I can see the outline of her throat and want to tear it out for Noah’s sake. Her neck is stretched to its limit and it’s difficult for her to breathe.

"Destiny? Define destiny" I say as I release her chin and give air back to her

"His father is a governor. Noah was born to either become a governor or to become a governor’s breeding omega...I...I was only doing my job" she says and I blink slowly.

"He’s born to be sold" I summarize everything she just said and she coughs up another round of blood.

I already knew what Winslow was capable of. I thought Noah was a part of it. I never knew he was a victim. A blind and unaware victim.

"You disgust me" I whisper.

"It’s the way it is, I swear! Ask him, he’ll tell you. He has been trained to do this from a day he started walking" she says the words in a rush as though it would save her from my conclusion.

"So you groomed him" I say the word she’s not using and she shakes her head. "Groomed? No! No! I only did what his father wanted him to do!"

"Why did he think he was pregnant?" I ask and all the color drains from her face in one second.

"W-what?" she stutters.

The look of confusion on her face irritates me.

"Shall I repeat myself?" I ask, pointing the screwdriver at her.

"I poisoned him, but he’s fine. I already gave him the antidote" she says in one breath as I trace the tip of the work tool over her face.

She’s beautiful.

"You’re beautiful" I murmur and her breath stutters.

I don’t play with my preys, that’s Kai’s specialty. I don’t chase them either, that’s Damien’s specialty.

I take and I kill. Simple.

"Don’t kill me" she whispers.

I scoff as the woman dares to soften her gaze in an attempt to flirt with me. Her eyes are shining with unshed tears and her bottom lip is trembling. She would have won me over if her eyes were like sapphires or her nose and cheeks had freckles.

Since she has none of those little details, she has to die.

I drive the screwdriver into her temple in one move, holding her neck to keep her steady as it pierces through skin, skull bone and brain matter.

"Noah is mine" I hiss as she thrashes against the floor.

"I forgive my objects when they’re damaged, but I never forgive the ones who touch them" I say in her ear as the life leaves her eyes.

This is my favorite part when they die. I don’t like the struggle or the mess made. I like the surrender.

I like when they go quiet. I enjoy when their eyes lose the light of life and when it dawns on them that they have to let go.

My brothers say it’s disturbing; but it’s encouraging. Encouraging to see how weak life can become in the face of death.

I get up and take the screwdriver with me. I have to make sure I don’t leave any evidence or thumbprint. I have to make sure it joins the museum in my bedroom.

After wiping my hands clean on my pants, I return to the car.

When I kill like this, it feels like there’s an icy layer over my heart. But today, the coldness warms up when I find Noah crying softly to himself.

I scan him from head to toe. There’s a bruise around his neck. His knees look like they were scrapped against the floor.

I moved too late, didn’t I? Fuck.

"Stop crying" I say flatly.

Shit. That was not what I wanted to say.

"Does anything hurt?" I ask and he shakes his head, looking at the dashboard instead of me.

"I killed her for you" I say, and he doesn’t respond.

Look at me, Noah.

"Did you want to get pregnant for me?" I ask and he looks at me. His blue eyes are overflowing with tears as his mouth opens and closes.

"Say something" I say through my clenched teeth. He makes me nervous and I don’t get nervous. Ever.

"If you want to get pregnant, I will make you pregnant. I will give you what you want" I say with my heart beating fast for him.

I’ve always hated the idea of reproducing. I completely hate the idea of bringing a child into the world and making them experience the darkness inside of me. But I’ll do it for him.

For my rock.

"I’ll give you anything you want" I repeat and a single tear slides down his cheek.

"Then let me go" he says and the warmth shatters.

"No" I say coldly.

"Why won’t you let me go?" he asks and I frown, getting in the car and starting the engine.

He has no right to tell me what to do. I married him. I took him. And I will keep him as long as I want.

He’s mine. My possession. My angel. Mine.
