Chapter 185: All your fault... Goldsmith pt. 1
Noah’s POV
’We are having and keeping a pup’ my omega says in a quiet voice and my heart skips a beat.
This is a big step, a risky step even. I still want my father, I still want to save my home, and I still want Elias in my life.
My hand subconsciously rests on my stomach, and I smile to myself, I guess this will be my new habit from now on.
I’m having a baby!
My shoulders shake with a little internal laughter, and I look to my side to make sure Siren didn’t see. We are returning home in the car, and I don’t want him to think of me as being weird.
I mean...I am weird, but I can put effort into keeping the affection of the mother figure who is warmly accepting me.
I turn my head and my happiness slowly gives way to nostalgia.
It’s past midnight and while most people are in their homes, some people are out and about. Gottingen is a more lively city than Winslow is. Back in my city, people will be rested in their houses.
By this time, Zane would sneak into my room, and we’d watch a movie together. I’d cry into the sheets, and he’d laugh at me for being too emotional. I miss spending time with my best friends like that...I miss home.
Home is where the heart is, I know, but home is also the place I grew up in. Too bad that place is tainted with hundreds of bad experiences. My mom’s endless calculations, my brainwashing, and my sneaking about to experience teenagerhood.
Back then, they didn’t seem odd, it was normal...but now, looking back, it’s clear that I was being groomed.
I rub my hand in slow circles over the place where my baby is resting. Will I successfully give my pup a good life?
My breathing shudders. It’s not in my power, but with what I know about the Deus right now, I believe they’ll take care of my baby.
"Don’t be scared of anything" Siren says as if he can hear my thought and I look at him, displaying my heart on my face. I’m happy, I’m excited, I’m scared. Inside my head is messy.
I let out another shaky sigh and the older omega does something strange. Siren puts his hand on my shoulder, purrs, and pulls me closer to his side.
"You can rest your head here" he says softly and I swallow.
Again, the villain in the whole world’s well-written book is the only person who accepts me. The irony of life.
"Thank you" I murmur and he doesn’t respond.
The rest of the ride back home is quiet. As the car drives through the gate, I remember the announcement the guard gave about the attack. I sit up straight and look out the window.
Oh shit. Me and my tendency to forget all the important things strike again. I hope I don’t end up forgetting my own name one of these days.
"Is the attack over?" I ask, stretching my neck to look out the window.
"My boys have gotten it under control" Siren says and my eyes continue to scan the building. I really hate the thought of raids and attacks. The trauma of Elias and his brothers attacking my home is still fresh on my mind.
I could write a two-volume book on the amount of trauma I carry, and it’s not funny that half of them have the Deus family attached to them in one way or the other.
Siren gets down and helps me out of the car. He may look like he breathes ice, but he has to be nicest person I know...and mind you, the bar is very low for me.
We walk to the house together and I keep my blood-stained sheet wrapped tightly around me. I feel as ridiculous as I look, and it’s all thanks to Elias Deus.
As soon as the front door swings open, I am hit with the nauseating smell of blood, death, and gunpowder. Goddess...it’s like going back in time to my home.
I gag and cup my nose with my sheet covered hand.
There are about twenty bodies lying on the floor like leaves on a normal autumn day. How are these people not yet caught and arrested? Wait...do I have to worry about my baby’s father being taken by the government? I’m too young to be without my husband.
"I can smell your panic, Noah. No one is going to hurt you" Siren says calmly like the dead men are just lying there by choice.
How are they all so casual about this?
"Have..." I retch and turn to the other side, "have you ever been caught by the law?"
"These are criminals written off by the law. They’re meant to be killed or given life-sentence. No one is looking for them, and we have a graveyard at the back of the mansion" Siren says and I pale.
Good to know...I guess.
Lucas walks by us with a scowl on his face and a laptop in his hand.
"Oh, Luna" he says, stopping to talk to Siren and a few more people start to come from the same direction. "What happened?" Siren asks.
"There is a maniac on the loose. Like yeah, there are always maniacs on the loose, I literally work with-"
"Focus, Lucas" Siren says.
"This person is trying to get to us and they are very relaxed about it" Lucas says and Siren’s face that had been warm with me suddenly hardens.
"What did they say they want?"
"Nothing yet" Lucas says and Siren nods, "the boys are in there?" he asks and points to the place more employees come out from.
"Yes, sir" he says.
"Okay, you can leave. Come on, Noah" Siren says and we head for the door. I walk right in front of Siren. I grimace at the man lying on the floor with a rifle discarded next to him. He has been severely beaten and it’s sickening.
I lift my eyes and see Elias opening his mouth to say something. I’m sure he meant to yell a warning, but it’s too late.
It happens before I even feel it; a stab to the belly, Aria’s face, and a sentence I’ve always hated to hear.
"It’s all your fault, Goldsmith."
