Pokémon: When the World Changed
Chapter 852 846: Opportunities Are Found, Not Sought
Early that morning.
Ethan, as always, took his Pokémon to train.
On the wide grassland of the Solar Farm, all his Pokémon were doing morning exercises.
For a Pokémon, the development of moves was undoubtedly important, but physical condition was still the foundation of battle.
"Fuu, fuu, fuu."
After running one lap around the Solar Farm, Ethan panted slightly.
As a human, Ethan's exercise was limited to one lap around the farm.
After finishing his morning run, he sat down heavily on the grass to rest.
For the Pokémon, however, that amount of exercise was naturally not enough, so they continued moving.
"Shuck!"
Shuckle, the general logistics manager, saw that Ethan had stopped to rest.
Then it used the move Rollout and rolled over to him, handing him a nutritious juice.
"Thank you, Shuckle."
Ethan thanked it, received the nutritious juice, and took a sip. Immediately, he felt refreshed.
After resting for a while, he took out his Pokémon training notebook again and began reviewing it.
During this period, the improvement of his Pokémon had been enormous, so naturally, he also needed to further optimize their training plans.
Now, Melmetal, Lucario, and Charizard had already entered the Elite level.
Sandslash, Cacturne, Slowking, Flygon, Tyranitar, Garchomp, and Kommo-o were also working hard to break through. Since they had already found their own paths, the breakthrough was only a matter of time.
As for the newly evolved Mamoswine, it was still cooperating with Professor Harris to open the sealed stone door. Ethan believed it would not be long before they could open it.
Everything was advancing in a fairly orderly manner. Only Shuckle, Litwick, Magmortar, and Rhyperior remained, still needing to continue working hard.
"Without a suitable opportunity, it will be a little difficult."
Ethan frowned as he thought.
If speaking of talent, Shuckle, Litwick, Magmortar, and Rhyperior were among the best.
Whether it was Shuckle's energy cannon, which could erupt by instantly absorbing the Pokéblocks in its body; Litwick's infinite clones and Demonic Fire Shadow; Magmortar's explosion development; or Rhyperior's development of the move Rock Wrecker, all of them had enough foundation to support their advancement to the Elite level.
But wanting to break through to the Elite level solely through their own talent and superior techniques might require natural accumulation over a long period of time. Otherwise, they could only depend on a corresponding opportunity.
Only, something like an opportunity was found, not sought. Wanting to encounter one by chance was too difficult, and required patient exploration.
"It seems that in a while I'll have to go out and travel again. Perhaps in those unknown Secret Kingdoms, some opportunity exists."
Ethan thought inwardly, while starting to plan his next trip.
"Ethan, I found you."
At that moment, Naira's figure appeared from afar.
"Big Sister Naira, good morning."
Ethan greeted her with a smile.
"It's not that early anymore. Today someone reserved a Gym battle with you."
"The Gym challengers have already arrived, and you, as the Gym Leader, haven't even appeared."
Naira shrugged, making Ethan scratch his head in embarrassment.
He had forgotten that he had Gym battles that morning. Fortunately, Naira reminded him.
In addition, that challenger had asked to challenge him by name, so it was also not appropriate to let Naira replace him.
"Yes, understood. I'll go prepare now."
Ethan nodded and called all his Pokémon.
After assigning their training plans to them again, Ethan left the Solar Farm, taking Litwick and Magmortar with him.
"You should also pay more attention. The Pokémon Trainers Guild evaluates Gym Leaders every year."
"With that attitude of leaving everything in others' hands, be careful not to fail the evaluation."
On the way to the Solaria Town Gym, Naira reminded him.
"The Gym evaluation, huh. I know."
"Now the development of Solaria Town is built on the foundation of the Pokémon Gym. I'll take the evaluation seriously."
Ethan nodded, and his expression could not help becoming serious.
Very soon, the two arrived shoulder to shoulder at the Solaria Town Gym.
"Leader Ethan, Leader Naira, the Gym challenger is already waiting on the battlefield."
Seeing Ethan and Naira, the Gym staff immediately came over to inform them.
Ethan nodded and walked directly into the Gym, heading toward the battlefield.
"Sorry, I'm late."
When Ethan arrived at the battlefield, the challenger on the other side, as expected, had already been waiting for a while.
After apologizing, the Gym battle officially began.
Without saying more, Ethan directly sent Litwick into battle.
During the time he had not been at the Gym, Naira had also sent Litwick into battle many times.
Currently, it could be said that Litwick was already a veteran at this, and it controlled the rhythm of battle very well.
After one round of battle, this challenger's performance was quite worthy of praise. Ethan was not stingy and directly awarded him a Gym Badge.
Immediately afterward came the second challenger. This one's performance was somewhat deficient, so Ethan directly rejected him.
Very soon, Ethan entered the rhythm. He continued evaluating the challengers' strength during the battles, and from time to time gave some advice, making the challengers benefit greatly.
After finishing one round of battles, a new challenger stepped onto the field.
This challenger wore a cap on her head and sunglasses on her face. Her figure was quite tall and slender; she was probably a beautiful woman.
"Leader Ethan, I hope for your guidance."
After stepping onto the field, this challenger spoke with a smile.
"That voice... sounds a little familiar."
Ethan reflected for a moment, vaguely feeling that something did not fit.
However, now was the time for the Gym challenge, and he could not think too much about it.
He sent Litwick into battle again.
The challenger on the other side, for her part, sent out a Corsola.
"Corsola, huh."
"In terms of types, Corsola, a dual Water and Rock type, has a quadruple resistance against the Fire type. But what my Gym evaluates is how to respond under sunny weather. Wanting to rely only on type advantage won't work."
Seeing this, Ethan began to score the challenger's choice.
Very soon, the battle began.
But in the next instant, the strength displayed by Corsola surprised Ethan enormously.
During the battle, Litwick was completely suppressed!
Even with the sunny weather on the field, which weakened Water-type moves.
The opposing Corsola still suppressed Litwick using Water-type moves!
One had to know that, even without using its superior technique of Demonic Fire Shadow, Litwick's strength was still Quasi-Elite level.
For a situation like this to occur could only indicate that the opposing Trainer was also a Quasi-Elite-level Trainer.
