Chapter 165: Chapter 165: What Did Korrina Miss?

"By the way, Your Majesty, you probably haven’t eaten in a very long time, have you?"

Sora rummaged through his backpack and pulled out several fresh, crisp carrots.

Ah, thank Arceus for Pokémon-world technology.

Even after two days, the carrots he had bought in Motostoke were still perfectly fresh.

"If you don’t mind, please have these to fill your stomach."

Sora handed the carrots to Calyrex.

The King of Bountiful Harvests hadn’t expected his believer to be so thoughtful.

Strictly speaking, as a Legendary Pokémon, Calyrex didn’t actually need to eat.

But who could resist delicious food?

Especially carrots.

Not only were they the favorite food of his beloved steeds, they were also one of Calyrex’s own favorite foods.

Big-headed rabbit king indeed.

Sure, the idea that rabbits love carrots was a stereotype.

But Calyrex genuinely loved them.

"My faithful believer..."

His hands trembling slightly, Calyrex accepted the carrot and took a bite.

Crunch.

"Mm!"

The moment the carrot entered his mouth, its sweet, refreshing, juicy flavor exploded across his taste buds.

The long-forgotten taste instantly shattered his composure.

Tears streamed down his face.

"My faithful believer, sob..."

"I... munch munch... I shall... munch munch... never betray your expectations... munch munch..."

Even while eating, Calyrex kept assuring Sora that he would absolutely repay such sincere devotion.

"Excellent. Everything is proceeding according to plan."

Sora openly admitted to himself that he was being strategic.

The prayers.

The journey here.

The carefully prepared carrots.

Every step had been tailored precisely to Calyrex’s preferences.

Had Calyrex seen through it?

Of course he had.

The wise King of Bountiful Harvests wasn’t foolish.

But being as kind-hearted as he was, why would he care?

All Calyrex knew was that after so many years, the world had forgotten him.

Only this young man had crossed countless hardships to find him.

So regardless of Sora’s true purpose—

As long as it wasn’t something evil, Calyrex was willing to grant his wish.

"If you don’t mind, would you care to rest with us?"

Sora cleared out a section of the bed for Calyrex.

He arranged things so that Ogerpon and Emma slept on the left side.

The right side was reserved for Calyrex.

"You would even share your bed with me."

"If I still possessed my former power, I would surely knight you."

To Calyrex, knighthood would only be the beginning.

Next would come land grants and noble titles.

He would have made Sora a legitimate lord of Galar.

Of course, those days were long gone.

Even Calyrex understood that times had changed.

People had forgotten his very existence.

Who still acknowledged the title of King of Galar?

Most likely, no one recognized his kingship anymore.

"Are you sure everything’s alright?"

Downstairs, Volcanion looked worriedly toward the darkened room above.

"It should be fine, right?"

Magearna felt that if Sora truly needed help, he would have called for them.

Since he hadn’t, everything was obviously under control.

And just as Magearna expected, the night passed peacefully.

Filled with excitement after finally meeting Calyrex, Sora quickly drifted into a deep sleep.

Emma, meanwhile, had no real understanding of what Calyrex represented.

Wasn’t he just a rabbit with a giant head?

Still, if Sora was happy, she was happy too.

Thus, morning arrived.

"Mmm~~"

"I slept so well."

Korrina climbed out of bed and opened the window.

The snowstorm had stopped.

Outside, sunlight reflected brilliantly off the snow-covered landscape.

"What beautiful scenery."

"Brr... okay, it’s also freezing."

"Yikes, no good."

She quickly slammed the window shut.

Moments later, she finally recovered from her shivering fit.

The girl had absolutely no idea what had happened the previous night.

Nor did she know that downstairs, Sora and Emma were currently entertaining a very special guest.

The King of Bountiful Harvests they had traveled all this way to find had simply appeared on his own.

Sora couldn’t help feeling that he truly was favored by destiny.

When he visited Kitakami, he met Ogerpon on the very first day.

At Nebel Plateau, he immediately found Volcanion and Magearna.

And now, after arriving in Freezington—

Calyrex had practically delivered himself to Sora’s doorstep.

"Thinking about it, Vee, you’re the one who made me look bad."

To keep an eye on Victini, Sora had spent an entire year and a half working in Eindoak.

"Master!"

"And Emma too—you guys got up so early!"

After washing up, Korrina came downstairs and immediately smelled something delicious.

Her gaze swept across the Pokémon gathered in the room as she greeted them one by one.

"Huh?"

Suddenly, her eyes stopped on an unfamiliar figure.

"What a huge head!"

The strange Pokémon made her eyes widen.

"Wait, what is that?"

Korrina considered herself quite knowledgeable.

Unless it was a Legendary Pokémon, there were very few species she couldn’t identify.

Yet ever since meeting Sora, she kept getting humbled again and again.

Seriously?

Another one?!

"Crown."

Calyrex raised a hand and waved the half-eaten carrot he was holding in greeting.

"Uh... h-hello."

Korrina immediately lost momentum.

For some reason, she felt as though she were standing before a tremendously imposing noble.

Which wasn’t entirely wrong.

A marquis standing before a king would naturally feel pressured.

And unlike the small kingdom of Azoth, Calyrex had once ruled all of Galar.

In terms of status and historical significance, he even surpassed AZ.

"Let me introduce him."

Sora said,

"This is the King of Bountiful Harvests we’ve been searching for."

"His true name is Calyrex."

"And he was once the ruler of Galar."

"Huh?"

Korrina stared blankly at Sora.

Why did she feel like she’d skipped several episodes?

Had she really just slept for one night?

Or had she somehow fallen into a coma for several days?

"Calyrex came here last night."

Emma explained,

"But you sleep way too deeply, so you never noticed."

"I see."

After thinking for a moment, Korrina asked,

"Then... do we still need to go searching?"

"We don’t need to search for the King of Bountiful Harvests anymore."

Sora replied,

"So our next objective is finding his two beloved steeds."

"Beloved steeds?"

Korrina’s brain was completely unable to keep up with Sora’s pace.

What exactly did a Pokémon have to do with beloved horses?
