Pokemon: Reborn Rich Alternate Earth

Chapter 859: Chapter 1076: Pause

Chapter 859: Chapter 1076: Pause

With that goofy grin on its face, saying it was fighting seriously—Julian really couldn't bring himself to believe Gengar's words. Mainly because this guy usually loved to mess around for no reason.

The image of Gengar as a prankster was deeply ingrained in Julian and the other Pokémon's minds.

So even if what it said was true, Julian couldn't help but instinctively find it a little hard to believe.

"Gen!"

Seeing its trainer's expression, Gengar immediately knew it was being doubted and couldn't help but stomp its feet in frustration.

"Alright, alright, I believe you, I believe you, okay?" Julian consoled.

'Seriously, what's with that tone like you're coaxing a child?' Gengar felt a bit speechless inside but didn't continue stomping.

'Let me defeat this guy first, then I'll mess with you later.'

Gengar then fired a Shadow Ball at Lilligant.

The Shadow Ball was only about the size of a basketball, but it was pitch black and it seemed as if even the sunlight was being swallowed by its darkness.

The Shadow Ball was very fast, but a trace of disdain flashed through Lilligant's eyes.

With a light tap of its feet, its body vanished soundlessly from the spot, leaving behind only a gust of wind that stirred a few fallen leaves on the ground.

With the boost from its dance-step ability, Lilligant's speed was remarkable. Coupled with the fact that the Shadow Ball still had some distance to cover, this kind of straightforward attack was simply too easy for it to dodge.

After disappearing, Lilligant surged forward with a gust of wind, whooshing straight toward Gengar.

"Gengar, Sludge Wave—on the ground," Julian said.

Because of its King form, Lilligant was immune to all negative status effects. But Julian still had Gengar use Sludge Wave, not to attack Lilligant directly but to cover the surrounding ground.

Purple venom instantly flooded the area around Gengar. Under the corrosive effect of the poison, the ground quickly became pitted and uneven, resembling a dark swamp bubbling with black bubbles.

The corroded terrain blocked Lilligant's path forward. It immediately halted its movement, its eyes filled with disgust as it looked at the ground ahead.

'This guy really does have a cleanliness complex,' Julian's eyes lit up slightly.

He had essentially taken a gamble, testing whether Lilligant would continue advancing over the corroded ground or not. After all, it couldn't be poisoned, and even if the ground slowed it down somewhat, the impact wouldn't be too severe.

But it stopped right there, showing a clear expression of disgust.

Clearly, just as Julian had suspected, it had a cleanliness complex.

"Gengar, Sludge Bomb!"

Gengar also noticed Lilligant's discomfort and grinned mischievously. With a wave of its short arms, clumps of sludge instantly shot up from the corroded ground.

The sludge carried a foul stench that reached Lilligant even before the attack itself.

Lilligant immediately backed away, not wanting to come into contact with it at all.

While the smell couldn't actually harm it, its aversion to anything unclean made the odor nauseating and sickening.

This was a psychological reaction causing physical discomfort. Even though its King form could ward off all negative status conditions, it couldn't do anything if the disgust was self-triggered.

In fact, Lilligant could have easily used a move to block all the Sludge Bombs, but it was afraid that any splatter might land on its body.

Even though Lilligant had dodged the attack, the sludge ended up splattering all over the place. Within a radius of one to two kilometers around Gengar, many areas were now covered with foul-smelling sludge.

The stench emanating from these patches of sludge made Lilligant frown. Fortunately, the sludge wasn't too dense, or it wouldn't even have had a place to step.

"Ghehehe~"

Gengar was having a blast and continued using Sludge Bombs—this time not aiming at Lilligant, but at the surrounding ground.

Its goal was simply to disgust Lilligant and leave it with no clean ground to stand on.

Poisoning, hypnosis, curses, paralysis—these underhanded tactics were what Gengar was best at, yet Lilligant countered them all.

With no way to play dirty anymore, Gengar felt miserable, so it had to make Lilligant miserable too—only then could it regain some joy.

Lilligant wasn't stupid. It knew exactly what Gengar was trying to do. Seeing that its footholds were almost gone, it gave a light push with its long legs and quickly retreated, moving the battlefield to a completely different area.

But Gengar didn't follow.

Lilligant: "If you still want to continue fighting, then come over. I'm certainly not going back there."

So you wanted to play dirty and disgust it, huh? Then it would just change to a clean spot. Whether you came or not was up to you—if you didn't, then it would just stop fighting.

The smile on Julian's face froze instantly.

Gengar's disgusting tactic had just been completely shut down.

This was way too fast.

"Gen!"

Gengar fumed angrily: "You're shameless!"

Lilligant sneered back at Gengar. 'Me, shameless? Only because you started it.'

Gengar turned to look at Julian, as if asking, 'Should we keep fighting?'

"…Fight!"

Julian took a deep breath and said firmly.

Lilligant could afford not to fight—after all, it had nothing to gain or lose either way.

But if Julian didn't fight, he wouldn't be able to complete the Main Quest—so he had no choice.

However, the Main Quest only stated to defeat five King-form Pokémon without imposing any specific conditions.

So even if Gengar lost, Julian could still send out a second Pokémon. Of course, if he really did not care about sportsmanship, he could directly send out Zekrom or Reshiram and one-shot it.

Hearing its trainer's decision, Gengar grumbled but still stepped out of the sludge field it had created.

"Hmph."

Seeing this, Lilligant revealed a smug smile. 'Trying to disgust me? Ended up backfiring on yourself, didn't it?'

"Gen~"

Gengar signaled for a pause.

Lilligant looked at it suspiciously, wondering what trick it was about to pull again.

Then it watched as Gengar started pulling things out of its belly—big ones and small ones, metal, wood, plastic, things to eat, things to use, things to drink...

There was everything imaginable, and the more it pulled out, the more there seemed to be, as if its belly contained more than a dozen warehouses.

Julian looked at the bed, sofa, table, all kinds of clothes, and kitchen utensils, standing there in a daze. These things seemed to have been stuffed into Gengar's belly back when he was still studying at Imperial University.

Although he had the system space for storage, he also quite liked the pocket dimension inside Gengar's belly, so he often stuffed random things into it.

Most of the items, once stuffed inside, were either never used again or simply forgotten.

And it wasn't just him—his Pokémon also liked stuffing things into Gengar's belly. He at least had the system space, but his Pokémon didn't.

Arcanine's dog toys, Lucario's training equipment, all kinds of ores secretly hoarded by Aggron, Slowking's stock of Combee honey, and all kinds of fried chicken, fries, and the like that Celebi and Jirachi had stored there, and so on…
