Chapter 850: Chapter 1067: Bewear

Chapter 850: Chapter 1067: Bewear

After passing through the Holm of Trials, Julian spent the next three months traversing three regions: the Cottonsedge Prairie, the Solaceon Ruins, and the Diamond Heath.

Now, Julian had arrived at the Ursa's Ring.

This place was rather interesting because all the Pokémon living here were bear-type Pokémon.

Ursaring, Beartic, Bewear, and Komala were the four main species found here, with Ursaring being the most numerous.

Except for Komala, which had a relatively mild temperament, the other three species were notoriously irritable.

Especially Ursaring—its infamy was second only to Beedrill and almost rivaled that of Spearow. Countless trainers had been chased down and beaten by these creatures.

At noon, Julian took a short rest on an empty patch of land while Slowking prepared lunch.

Since the Ursa's Ring was inhabited solely by bear-type Pokémon, the area was relatively sparsely populated by Pokémon. So upon landing, there were no signs of Pokémon activity on this clearing.

"Slow~"

Slowking brought over lunch: a bowl of golden egg-fried rice and a serving of kelp pork rib soup.

Lunch was usually kept simple.

The golden rice, coated with egg, was so meticulously prepared that if you looked closely, you could see that each grain of rice was individually wrapped in egg.

Achieving this level of perfection was almost unheard of.

After eating, not even a trace of oil remained at the bottom of the bowl.

A simple dish like egg-fried rice had been elevated to its peak by Slowking.

"Celebi, there are berries over there. Let's go pick some."

Jirachi pointed to the yellow-orange Berries not far away. It recognized them as Sitrus Berries, which tasted delicious and were exceptionally juicy.

They were also one of the few Berries that both humans and Pokémon could eat.

"Mm."

Celebi nodded.

Immediately, the two little ones flew toward the Berries.

But halfway there, a Bewear suddenly appeared in front of them, waving its arms at the two little ones.

"See, Jirachi, this is my reputation as a nature spirit—wherever I go, I have fans."

Celebi looked at the Bewear waving at it and chuckled, its face full of pride.

Jirachi nodded enviously, not doubting Celebi's words.

After all, the Bewear was indeed waving at Celebi.

"You wait here for a moment, I'll go say hello," Celebi said.

"Mm."

After saying that, Celebi happily flew toward the Bewear. Since the other party was making such an effort to greet it, it couldn't just ignore it—that would hurt its feelings.

In its heart, Celebi had already considered Bewear as one of its fans.

And as it drew closer to Bewear, the waving grew more and more enthusiastic, which made Celebi even happier.

Seeing how excited its fan was, it figured it could even give an autograph later.

"Hello—"

Just as Celebi was about to greet it, it suddenly noticed that its fan's expression had turned fierce and twisted. And the next moment, a fist swung straight toward Celebi.

The glowing white fist landed with a bang right on Celebi's cheek.

Whoosh—

Celebi instantly turned into a streak of light and flew past Jirachi. The gust of wind it created even made Jirachi squint its eyes.

"Ce—Celebi?!"

The scene stunned Jirachi so much that it began to stammer.

Looking at Celebi being sent flying by a Mega Punch, and fly off into the distance until it was completely out of sight, Jirachi turned back to look at the Bewear.

The guy was now waving at it, which frightened Jirachi so much that it quickly flew back to Julian's side.

A dignified First-class Legendary had been scared by a Pseudo-Champion.

Julian shook his head at the sight.

'Hopeless, absolutely hopeless.'

Julian couldn't help but feel some regret over letting Jirachi spend so much time with Celebi. Now it seemed, it was too late to reverse the effects.

At this point, Jirachi could truly be called the shame of all First-class Legendaries.

Looking at Jirachi hovering before him with fear on its face, Julian was at a loss for words.

"Julian, Julian, it's bad, Celebi, Celebi—got, got punched away by it!"

Jirachi was clearly so frightened that it couldn't speak smoothly.

It pointed at the Bewear, who was still waving its arms, feeling that this guy was really too sinister.

Using such a method to lower their guard, then suddenly throwing a punch when they got close—who could have seen that coming?

"I saw it."

Julian said calmly.

He had noticed the Bewear as soon as it appeared.

"Let me tell you something: when a Bewear waves its arms at you, it's not welcoming you. It's telling you to stay away from its territory. It was a warning."

"Celebi foolishly went over, so of course it got hit," Julian explained.

While waving might be a friendly gesture for others, for Bewear, it was a clear warning—a signal for you to leave immediately.

Otherwise, it would resort to force.

"Oh?!"

Jirachi was extremely surprised upon hearing that.

"But what about Celebi—"

It was a bit worried about its good buddy Celebi. After getting punched away like that, wouldn't it be injured?

"Isn't it back already," Julian said, gesturing with a nod toward the side. Celebi was swiftly flying back toward them.

Though Celebi might be useless, it was still a Pseudo-Champion after all—there was no way it would have been KO'd by Bewear with just a single punch.

"You bastard, you played dirty!"

Even before it arrived, an angry voice rang out.

Celebi flew straight toward Bewear, its chubby face now filled with rage. It had been out in the world for so many years, yet it had never suffered this kind of loss.

Even with Julian, it believed it hadn't taken many losses.

But today, it had actually been deceived in such a way—not only was its feelings played with, but it also made Celebi look incredibly stupid.

This was simply unforgivable!

"Burn, my inner rage!"

Celebi roared, its two tiny wings fluttering rapidly behind it—those little wings really had it hard, having to haul Celebi's bulky body, but its speed was surprisingly fast.

A Psycho Cut shot out from Celebi, slicing through the ground and arriving in front of the Bewear in the blink of an eye.

The latter's reaction speed was also very fast—with a whoosh it disappeared from the spot.

"Where did it go?"

Celebi hurriedly looked around, immediately feeling a bit flustered.

"Above you."

Julian's voice came just in time.

Looking up, Celebi saw the Bewear already above it, descending with a Heavy Slam. The intense pressure made Celebi feel its body sink.

It really had become useless—faced with this attack, Celebi actually showed a panicked, at-a-loss expression.

"Light Screen, Reflect."

Fortunately, at the last moment, Julian's slightly helpless voice rang out.

Panicked as it was, after hearing Julian's words, Celebi waved its small hands rapidly. In the span of a second, it set up multiple Light Screens and Reflects above its head.

The casting speed slightly improved Julian's negative opinion of Celebi, though its overall score was still in the negatives.
