Chapter 845: Chapter 1062: Smart Celebi
"You even swallowed the pits?" Julian asked.
Steelix blinked its eyes, as if to say, 'Do pits need to be spit out?'
"Forget it."
Julian shook his head. He had originally thought that since Sand Berries were one of the favorite Berries of Ground-type Pokémon, he might take some pits to see if he could plant them later.
But with all the pits eaten by Steelix, the idea that had just sprung up in his mind was dashed.
It didn't really matter, though—the thought had just been a passing whim anyway.
The Sandaconda hissed another command to the Silicobras. After a moment's hesitation, the Silicobras soon returned with two more Sand Berries.
This time, Julian directly put them in his pocket, even as Steelix drooled uncontrollably.
Sand Berries offered little nutritional value to Steelix—they couldn't even restore its stamina—but their taste was truly delicious.
"Here, you can use this if you get injured later."
Since the Sandaconda had been so generous, Julian naturally wouldn't be stingy either. He took out a Full Restore—a potion that could save you as long as you had a breath left.
Having witnessed the effectiveness of potions before, the Sandaconda's eyes lit up slightly as it swallowed the Full Restore, storing it securely in its sand sac.
Its sand sac functioned like a giant backpack. Most of the time, it stored sand for attacks, but it could also hold other items.
Keeping things in the sand sac was much safer than storing them elsewhere.
"Sandaconda, who is the Pokémon in charge of the Holm of Trials?" Julian asked.
Each region had a ruler—the strongest Pokémon in that area.
"Tyranitar," the Sandaconda answered, glancing at Julian's Tyranitar as it spoke.
It had never seen a Tyranitar this large before. Compared to it, the region's ruler seemed like a child.
'Tyranitar!'
Hearing it was one of its own kind, Julian's Tyranitar immediately perked up, a flicker of competitive spirit igniting in its heart.
Julian glanced at Tyranitar, knowing exactly what it was thinking.
"Alright then, I'll be going."
He waved goodbye to the Sandaconda.
Sandaconda and Silicobra weren't suited for mining, so Julian didn't attempt to capture them. Otherwise, he might have rounded them up en masse, just like he had with the Durant colony last time.
The weather in the Holm of Trials was extremely harsh. Only half a day had passed when the entire desert was swept up by a massive sandstorm that blotted out the sky. Even though it was daytime, the sandstorm made everything as dark as night.
Despite the intensity of the sandstorm, Julian remained unaffected. As a beloved child of the sand and with its Sand Stream ability, Tyranitar prevented the sandstorm from approaching within seven to eight meters of it.
Sand and wind couldn't penetrate this area, making it seem as though they were impervious to all elements.
Even in the raging sandstorm, many Pokémon were still active in the desert.
For Pokémon of other types, entering the desert at such a time would be suicidal. But for Ground-type and Rock-type Pokémon native to the desert, while the sandstorm had some impact on them, it wasn't significant.
Moreover, whenever sandstorms swept through the Holm of Trials, the Ground- and Rock-type energies became the most concentrated. Thus, many Ground- and Rock-type Pokémon seized the opportunity to absorb energy.
Of course, this kind of energy was minuscule for a high-level Pokémon like Tyranitar. Unless the sandstorm lasted three or four months, the energy absorbed over a day or two would pale in comparison to what it gained from eating Pokéblocks.
So Julian didn't bother releasing Garchomp or Steelix.
Under the sky filled with sand and dust, Julian couldn't see what was ahead. The Dowsing Machine in his hand continued to flash with ten red dots, but they were so small that he had no interest in searching for them.
He took three ice pops out of the system space—one for himself, and one each for Celebi and Jirachi. As for Nebby, it was asleep and naturally missed out.
"Julian, why is yours different from mine and Jirachi's?"
Celebi looked at its own ice pop, which was pink, while Jirachi's was purple. Though the colors differed, their shapes were the same—likely just different flavors.
But Julian's ice pop had a layer of chocolate on the outside and even sprinkles on top. One look made it obvious that it was a cut above the ones they held.
"Oh, this is blackberry flavor, the same variety as yours," Julian said calmly, lying through his teeth.
The one in his hand cost twenty bucks, while Celebi and Jirachi's cost only two bucks each. He could buy ten of theirs for the price of his.
"I don't believe you—let me take a bite!"
Of course, Celebi didn't buy Julian's nonsense. It could tell the difference between blackberries and chocolate. Julian was clearly enjoying the good stuff while giving it and Jirachi the cheap ones.
This was too much!!
"Nope, you're dirty," Julian shook his head.
Celebi got furious as soon as it heard that. It didn't even mind that Julian had already taken a bite, yet Julian had the nerve to call it dirty?
It glared at Julian angrily.
"Celebi, if you don't eat it soon, it's going to melt!"
Jirachi licked its ice pop and, seeing Celebi's already dripping, immediately reminded it. As long as there was something to eat, Jirachi was satisfied, and the grape-flavored ice pop in its hand did taste pretty good.
For a two-buck ice pop, did you really expect real grape flavor? Dream on! It was all artificial flavorings and additives. But while such products might not be healthy, they often tasted great.
"Hmph!"
Celebi snorted and decided to finish the ice pop first before settling accounts with the blockhead.
Sure enough, the taste really was quite good.
Unnoticed by them, the sandstorm's intensity gradually weakened until it finally ceased completely.
Julian casually tossed the stick away and looked into the distance. "Is that… a mirage?"
Right in front of them, faint, illusory figures appeared—mountains, water, and various Pokémon. Though they looked like projections, the shapes of the mountains and water were eerily realistic.
"This mirage looks almost real," Jirachi said in surprise.
"They're all fake. It's a natural phenomenon caused by light refraction. Don't be fooled," Celebi explained.
Both Julian and Jirachi looked at Celebi with extremely astonished expressions, to the point that Celebi itself felt puzzled. It touched its face, thinking there was something on it.
"Celebi, you're amazing! You even know about such things!"
Jirachi looked at Celebi with admiration.
Julian, on the other hand, asked strangely, "Did something go wrong with your brain? You actually know this? Have you been eating less fried chicken and fries lately—did your IQ come back?"
"Hmph! Blockhead, who are you looking down on? I, Celebi, am very smart! If you have the guts, ask me another question—I'll answer anything you throw at me!"
Julian: "How many hairs does Arcanine have?"
Celebi: ⊙0⊙
