Chapter 1042: Chapter 1259: Not In A Hurry
Chapter 1042: Chapter 1259: Not In A Hurry
Gemma, holding onto Julian's arm, walked into the banquet hall and proudly said to her classmates and friends, "This is my coach. I don't need to say who he is, right?"
There was naturally no need for introductions. At this point, aside from infants and people with dementia, Julian had basically reached the level where everyone in the world knew his name.
"Hello, Champion Walker."
The group quickly greeted him.
At this moment, they were incredibly envious of Gemma. How did she manage to meet Julian just by having coffee? They also frequently visited the Slow House, so why hadn't they run into Julian back then?
Since everyone was around the same age, and Julian did not put on any airs, the nervousness among the crowd quickly faded considerably.
One after another, they eagerly asked to take photos with him.
"Coach, where are Celebi and Jirachi?" Gemma asked, puzzled.
She had only seen Julian but not Celebi and Jirachi. Just thinking back to how they'd treated her like a walking wallet last time, tricking her into paying for their food and drinks, she became annoyed.
If Julian hadn't reminded her back then, she would have thought Celebi and Jirachi really liked her and that was why they asked her for money.
Turns out they just saw her as a money bag.
"Today's Crazy Thursday. They're at Old Man Ken's right now," Julian said.
Unless they were inside a Secret Realm, the two little ones never missed a Crazy Thursday.
"Ugh, and to think I prepared so much fried chicken and fries for them," Gemma said in frustration.
Although she was annoyed that the two little ones treated her like a cash cow, she genuinely liked them. So she had specifically prepared plenty of the junk food they liked for the banquet.
And at an event like this, having that kind of junk food here was practically a class travesty.
Gavin had been against it at first; he simply couldn't afford the embarrassment. But the moment he heard the junk food was prepared for Celebi and Jirachi, he agreed in an instant.
"Send a photo to Celebi and Jirachi. Once they see it, they'll definitely come over—and they might even bring you a gift," Julian said with a smile.
"Really?" Gemma quickly asked.
"Mm."
Julian nodded. He understood the two little ones far too well.
Watching Gemma snap a flurry of photos of the junk food, Julian picked up some popcorn chicken from the side and ate it bite by bite—he liked junk food too.
"They just said they'll come right away."
Gemma walked up to Julian and triumphantly waved her phone.
Just as Julian had said, the moment Celebi and Jirachi saw the mountain of junk food she'd sent photos of, they immediately started heading her way.
"Coach, what gift did you get me?" Gemma asked expectantly.
Giving a gift on someone's birthday was just common sense after all.
"Gengar."
Julian had naturally prepared something.
"Gen~"
A white Gengar emerged from Julian's shadow.
At the banquet, there were already many Pokémon present. Most belonged to the guests, while a small portion were serving as attendants.
But Gengar's appearance still drew a lot of attention.
Or rather, many people at the scene had already been secretly watching Julian. And once Gengar appeared, their curiosity grew even stronger—though what they felt more than curiosity was excitement.
After all, this was a Champion-level Pokémon.
"Gen~"
Gengar's stubby little arms reached into its belly. And under Gemma's eagerly expectant gaze, it rummaged around for a moment and then pulled out a small gift box.
Seeing it, Julian's gaze shifted slightly.
Taking the box, Gemma looked at Julian. "Coach, can I open it?"
"Mm."
Julian nodded, quietly taking a few steps back.
As Gemma impatiently opened the gift box—
Bang!
A spring-loaded Arbok suddenly popped out of it.
"Ahhh!"
The sudden surprise made Gemma shriek and immediately throw the box away.
"Gehahaha!!"
Having successfully pulled off a prank—and such a low-level prank at that—Gengar laughed so hard it was practically rolling on the floor.
Over the years, Julian, Metagross, and the others had pretty much become immune to Gengar's pranks.
A trick like this wouldn't even get a reaction from them. So these days, Gengar rarely got to feel the satisfaction of a successful prank on Julian.
"Gengar!"
Gemma knew she'd just been pranked by Gengar. Fuming, she went after it, but Gengar had long since bolted, far out of her reach.
"Coach, help me catch it!"
Seeing Gengar still making faces at her, Gemma was utterly furious but unable to catch it—so she could only turn to Julian for help.
"Gengar, give her the real gift," Julian said.
"Gen~"
Gengar grinned and nodded. Then, catching Julian completely off guard, it suddenly licked him.
Julian: 'Damn it, so many people are watching.'
While Julian was busy pulling out a Cheri Berry, Gengar reached back into its belly and pulled out a small wine barrel, placing it in front of Gemma.
"Wine?"
Gemma curiously looked at the small wine barrel in front of her.
She had originally thought that Julian would gift her some kind of treasure or maybe even a Pokémon.
But why would he give her alcohol? She didn't even like drinking.
"Yes. Champion-grade Monkey Wine. If a human drinks it, their lifespan increases by thirty years. If an Elite-level Pokémon drinks it, it also strengthens their foundation and deepens their accumulated power."
His tone was calm, but to Gemma and everyone else listening, the words detonated like a bomb right beside their ears.
The second half didn't matter much. It was the first half that counted—it could extend a human's life by thirty years.
Quite a few people's breathing immediately grew rapid.
"Thirty years per sip?" Gemma, equally thrilled, asked cautiously, barely daring to move the barrel.
"Thirty years for the whole barrel."
Julian shot her a look.
Thirty years per sip? What on earth was going on in that head of hers? If that was true, this one barrel would be enough for over a hundred people.
"Thank you, Coach!"
Although it wasn't the thirty-years-per-sip she had imagined, it was still more than enough to fill Gemma with delight.
In this world, the rarest and most precious treasure of all was absolutely anything that could extend a human's lifespan.
And the life extension offered by this Monkey Wine wasn't just a few years, nor even ten—it was a full thirty years. An effect like that alone was worthy of being compared to an Ultimate treasure.
"Julian is willing to give my daughter a treasure like this… could it be that he's interested in her?"
Watching this unfold, Gavin forced himself to remain calm as he spoke to Jake beside him.
"Your daughter's not bad looking, but that brat of mine doesn't seem to want much romantic entanglement. So don't read too much into it," Jake said flatly.
Gavin felt rather unwilling to let it go.
"What's wrong with my daughter? And besides, as his father, aren't you the least bit anxious about your son's marriage? Julian is the sole heir of your family!"
"I am anxious, but there's nothing I can do. Who told me I can't beat that brat? Otherwise, I'd have tied him up and forced him to marry long ago."
Jake's expression as he said this was quite complicated.
There was no helping it. His son was just too strong, his wings far too hardened. As the father, he had been utterly crushed in terms of strength.
Marriage would just have to happen when fate allowed.
Anyway, with Julian's lifespan, going a hundred years without marrying wouldn't even matter.
Even his grandfather wasn't in a rush, so why should he, as the father, be anxious?
John: 'Is that even something a father should say, you brat…'
