Chapter 1015: Chapter 1232: Almost Melted

Chapter 1015: Chapter 1232: Almost Melted

Arcanine's tenfold-powered Flare Blitz was so overwhelming that even Deoxys glanced at it with surprise. As the direct target of the attack, Metagross didn't dare underestimate it in the slightest.

The immense pressure surging from ahead not only weighed heavily on Metagross but also ignited an intense fighting spirit within it.

Its eyes locked forward, focused and sharp.

This pressure was even greater than what it had felt from the peak Champion-level Kleavor before.

If Arcanine was also at the peak of the Champion-level, then Metagross would likely have needed to Mega Evolve to withstand this attack.

"Meta!"

With a thought, Metagross deployed multiple layers of Light Screen in front of itself. But those incredibly sturdy barriers couldn't even slow down the incoming charge.

Just as the wind pressure shattered through the Light Screens, Arcanine's Flare Blitz followed immediately behind—like a meteor crashing down, filling the entire field of vision with a reddish-purple blaze.

The surrounding space twisted violently under the scorching heat.

Protect!

At the last moment, an emerald-green barrier formed around Metagross.

BOOOM—!!!!

Flare Blitz collided with Protect, and the sheer impact sent Metagross—along with the barrier—flying backward.

A terrifying shockwave erupted, spreading outward like a hurricane.

In an instant, the ground, magma, and rocks—everything—vanished into nothing in the wake of that shockwave.

Arcanine's Flare Blitz continued to drive forward, pushing against the Protect barrier.

Crack… crack…

Cracks began to spread across the barrier. Then—

Protect shattered completely.

The blazing charge swallowed Metagross whole and continued surging forward.

Ten kilometers… Fifty kilometers… Two hundred kilometers… Five hundred kilometers…

In less than a minute, it had torn across the entire Molten Arena, obliterating everything in its path.

It shot through the Bathers Lagoon, smashed through the sandbar, and plunged straight into the Tranquility Cove.

With a colossal, sky-high wave, a massive plume of water vapor instantly blanketed the area. The seawater within this entire range was boiled alive, and of course, the nearby Pokémon were utterly doomed.

As the Flare Blitz finally ended, Arcanine stood on the seabed, pinning Metagross beneath it.

The surrounding seawater had been forced aside, held back as if by an invisible force, refusing to collapse back in.

At this moment, Metagross's entire body was glowing red-hot. The cross-shaped mark on its face even showed signs of melting. Not only that—its all four claws had been completely melted away.

"Arf?"

Arcanine: "Do you surrender?"

Arcanine panted heavily, its eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

It simply couldn't understand how, after taking a tenfold-powered Flare Blitz, this opponent was still standing.

"Meta~"

Metagross: "If that's all you've got… you're still lacking."

As soon as it finished speaking, Arcanine, who had been pressing down on it, was blasted away by an overwhelming force.

Then—

At point-blank range, Metagross struck back with a Meteor Mash.

Even though its claws had melted, it could still use the move—though without its claws, the power was reduced.

But that didn't matter. If power dropped, it could just make up for it with quantity.

While Flare Blitz had gained tenfold power, and the temperature of its flames had also increased tenfold—otherwise it wouldn't have nearly melted Metagross—its stamina consumption had also required ten times as much.

That single move had drained Arcanine heavily.

Although the effects of Psychic Noise had already worn off, Arcanine was now in the ocean, not the Molten Arena—so it couldn't recover its stamina.

On top of that, being in water actually suppressed its strength to some degree.

In its briefly exhausted state, Arcanine had no ability to resist.

And more importantly—it never expected Metagross to still have enough strength to counterattack, let alone with such force.

Meteor Mash after Meteor Mash rained down.

By the time the fiftieth punch landed, Arcanine's head tilted to the side—and it completely lost consciousness.

"Meta~"

Metagross let out a low cry as it looked at its fallen opponent.

As it did, an invisible wave of energy spread from its body—then vanished just as quickly.

"It leveled up."

Julian's eyes lit up with delight.

Metagross had been stuck at level 96 for quite some time. It wasn't lacking in foundation—it just hadn't faced enough pressure.

This battle with Arcanine had allowed Metagross to fight completely unrestrained, and at one point it had even been pushed to the brink by Arcanine.

Now that the fight was over, its bottleneck had finally broken—its level rising to 97.

"Metagross looks so beaten up…"

Celebi lay on Julian's head, still shaken and wide-eyed at what it had just witnessed.

It had never seen any Pokémon push Metagross into such a battered state.

Celebi wasn't the only one stunned—Moltres wore the exact same expression. It kept swallowing nervously, shocked by Arcanine's strength.

At the same time, it felt relieved that this Arcanine wasn't going to be a teammate. Otherwise, Julian's own Arcanine would've gained an absurdly powerful backing.

Thinking about how it had fiercely scolded this dog earlier, Moltres didn't feel the slightest bit of regret—instead, it felt absolutely proud of itself.

Even such a powerful dog couldn't out-argue it—so Julian's "dumb dog" stood no chance against its verbal attacks.

Metagross returned to Julian's side, bringing with it a wave of blistering heat. Julian immediately took out a bottle of Meteor Fluid and poured it over Metagross.

This substance could heal its injuries—and after its defenses had been broken through, it could further strengthen its body.

[Meteor Fluid: A natural treasure that only has an extremely low chance of appearing during large-scale meteor showers. It can heal Steel-type Pokémon and is also an excellent body-tempering material.]

This wasn't something Julian had found—he had just spent two million points to buy it from the System Shop.

And right now, it was exactly what Metagross needed most.

It was rare for Metagross to be roasted red-hot.

With Metagross's defensive ability, even if Moltres roasted it for a full month, it couldn't turn it this red. Now, with Metagross glowing red all over, applying Meteor Fluid would maximize its tempering effect.

If Arcanine's Flare Blitz had been just a bit stronger—fifteen or sixteen times power—it might've actually melted Metagross.

After applying the Meteor Fluid, Metagross's external injuries quickly healed, and even its claws began regenerating.

Of course, its internal injuries were still severe.

After all, it had been slammed over 500 kilometers, smashing through multiple mountains along the way—having no internal damage would've been impossible.

Julian applied additional medicine for internal recovery before finally stopping the treatment.

On the other side, the unconscious Arcanine groggily woke up. Its recovery ability was truly astonishing.

For a normal Pokémon, that barrage from Metagross would've been fatal.

But for this one—it had suffered little more than a concussion.
