Julian revealed a kind smile and stepped forward, extending his hand to Gallade.
"Hello, Gallade. I’m Julian Veyne. From now on, I’ll be your Trainer."
Gallade nodded and accepted the olive branch Julian had extended.
"Gallade."
Gallade met Julian’s eyes without the slightest ripple in his own.
Gallade had undergone strict training from Team Galactic. Like a knight, whoever held his Poké Ball was the lord he pledged loyalty to.
This trained mentality meant that anyone who obtained Gallade could immediately command him in battle.
But for a Trainer to form a bond with this kind of Pokémon, the difficulty would rise by several levels.
Never assume that just because Gallade was obedient, he did not need much attention.
A Trainer had to warm him with love and truly make him part of the team.
The courier waved.
"Julian, I need to continue delivering parcels. Someone actually sent you a Gallade as a gift. Looks like you’ll be able to take over Veilstone Gym smoothly."
"How enviable."
Julian smiled and nodded.
"I’ll take your blessing. See you."
After the courier left, Julian looked at Gallade.
"Come with me."
Julian directly brought Gallade to the dining area and released Hakamo-o, Croagunk, Primeape, Torchic, and Farfetch’d.
Then he introduced them to Gallade one by one.
The strongest reaction came from Primeape.
This new teammate looked very strong at first glance.
Worth fighting
Before they had even battled, faint streams of red aura began to rise from Primeape’s body.
Seeing this, Gallade also shifted his arms, revealing the blades at his elbows as he prepared to meet Primeape’s attack.
Julian immediately stood between them.
"Stop! It’s dinner time right now. The welcome event for our new member can wait until after we eat!"
Hearing that it was time to eat, Primeape immediately withdrew its fighting spirit.
At this point, they should eat first.
There was no rush.
After dinner, it could have a proper spar with the newcomer.
When making Pokémon food, Julian was like Chef Saiba when he cooked. He devoted himself completely, allowing the Pokémon food he made to possess flavour beyond the ingredients themselves.
After Julian obtained Beginner Psychic Constitution, this flavour beyond the ingredients became even more obvious.
Even Primeape, whose battle desire was the strongest, had gradually been captured by the Pokémon food Julian tailored to its tastes.
Even Julian himself had not realised that Beginner Psychic Constitution had this additional effect.
He simply did what he always did and poured his love and enthusiasm into making Pokémon food.
Julian enjoyed this process.
Every time a new Pokémon joined, he would continuously optimise their dedicated Pokémon food formula according to their feedback.
Gallade had only just arrived.
And Gallade was based on Psychic type first. Only after evolving into Gallade did he gain Fighting type.
When making Gallade’s Pokémon food, he needed to use Psychic-type materials as the foundation.
Fortunately, after Julian obtained Beginner Psychic Constitution, he had already planned to catch a Psychic-type Pokémon.
He had bought Psychic-type materials in advance and experimented with making food suitable for Psychic-type Pokémon.
He had already gained some experience.
Today, he had received the Gallade Silas gave him, so those materials happened to be useful for making Gallade’s first meal after joining the team.
Seeing that every other Pokémon had a portion of Pokémon food in front of them while he alone had none, Gallade’s eyes showed emotion for the first time.
Hakamo-o took the initiative to push his own food slightly towards Gallade.
"Haka?"
Julian smiled and felt relieved by Hakamo-o’s action.
As expected, his oldest friend could be relied on.
"All right, Hakamo-o, you eat your own. Gallade, come with me."
On the way to the kitchen, Julian explained to Gallade, "Their food formulas were all adjusted bit by bit by me. Today, you’ve joined our team."
"Naturally, I need to make a dedicated Pokémon food formula for you too."
Julian took out the various materials he had bought that suited Psychic-type Pokémon.
"Gallade, see which of these foods you like eating."
Confusion appeared in Gallade’s eyes.
Was this not something the Trainer should decide?
Julian was somewhat surprised.
Had Gallade never made decisions for himself before?
He placed a hand on Gallade’s shoulder and comforted him.
"Taste is a very personal preference. You can make the choice yourself."
Julian used a small knife to cut a piece from each kind of food.
"How about this? Try each one, then rank them for me according to how much you like them."
Gallade nodded.
He picked up a piece of food and placed it in his mouth, tasting it seriously as if carrying out a difficult mission.
After eating it, Gallade thought carefully, then picked up another piece and tasted it.
Finally, he arranged the foods in front of him into a perfectly straight line according to how much he liked them.
Just like Gallade’s personality.
Straight and rigid.
Julian smiled.
Looking at the row of different foods, he developed a basic idea for Gallade’s formula.
He took out another pile of ingredients and cut a small piece from each one.
"Try these too."
Gallade nodded and slowly tasted them one by one again.
Finally, another perfectly straight line appeared on the table.
The formula in Julian’s mind fully took shape.
He took out a pile of materials and sorted them by type.
"Gallade, please help me cut these into strips, these into slices, and these into cubes."
Gallade did not understand.
He simply blinked at Julian.
Strips, slices, cubes...
What were those?
Julian demonstrated what strips, slices, and cubes were.
He wanted Gallade to assist him in making Pokémon food, using it as the first step for Gallade to integrate into the team.
After Julian demonstrated, Gallade immediately understood the food shapes he wanted.
This kind of request was very simple for him.
Gallade revealed his elbow blades and easily cut the ingredients into the required sizes.
Perfectly accurate.
Every strip, slice, and cube was exactly the same size, thickness, and length.
Julian’s eyes lit up.
"What fast blades. What a beautiful Fury Cutter. Gallade, your Ability is Sharpness, right?"
Gallade nodded.
As Julian mixed the materials together, he smiled and said, "After dinner, show me the strength of Sharpness properly."
Gallade nodded slightly, then silently stood at the side and watched Julian make his dedicated Pokémon food.
Even when he smelled the aroma coming from the food as it baked, Gallade still stood perfectly straight.
After the food was ready, Julian took out a portion and placed it on a new plate.
"Try it. See if this is a flavour you like."
The freshly baked Pokémon food was scalding hot, but Gallade picked it up and was about to place it straight into his mouth.
Julian quickly stopped him, took the food from Gallade’s hand, and blew on it.
"It just came out of the oven, so it’s hot. You have to blow on it before putting it in your mouth."
Julian blew on it again.
"All right. You can eat it now."
Then he placed the piece of Pokémon food back into Gallade’s hand.
Gallade was somewhat surprised.
He stood there, staring at the food in his hand.
"Eat. What are you standing there for?"
Gallade placed the food into his mouth and slowly chewed.
The delicious flavour of the food and the gentleness he received from Julian stunned Gallade.
