That was a sign of pain so intense it had stolen his voice.
It was several times worse than the kind of hit that still allowed a Pokémon to scream loudly.
The Trainer also realised that Medicham’s condition was not good.
"Medicham, Recover!"
For Medicham to have already mastered Recover showed that he had been raised extremely well.
Unfortunately, facing Toxicroak had caused both Trainer and Medicham to become somewhat careless.
They had not expected Toxicroak to attack so quickly, or so heavily.
"Sucker Punch!"
In that instant, Medicham twisted his body into an unusual stance.
It still did not stop Toxicroak from turning his palm and sending him flying again, but Medicham’s eyes sharpened.
That brief movement had not been luck.
Under the pressure of pain, his focus had broken through. His body, mind, and breathing had aligned for a single moment, allowing him to sense the rhythm of the attack more clearly than before.
All the pain produced by his body would now make Medicham stronger.
"Good job, Medicham! Use Psybeam!"
The Trainer’s surging spirit also infected Medicham.
Medicham opened and closed his hands, and a seven-coloured radiance bloomed from them, condensing into a beam that shot towards Toxicroak.
Toxicroak ran nimbly, and Psybeam struck the ground, missing its target.
"Sludge Bomb!"
"Dodge. Meditate!"
The Trainer had heard that Julian’s Hakamo-o could use Dragon Dance in battle to dodge an enemy’s attack.
Strengthening while dodging.
A powerful manoeuvre like that.
Today, the Trainer dared to imitate it.
Medicham’s ability was Pure Power, and Medicham was the Pokémon most skilled at using Meditate. The Trainer believed that his Medicham could definitely use Meditate to avoid Toxicroak’s Sludge Bomb.
And he really did it...
Halfway!
Of the eight Sludge Bombs, while Medicham used Meditate to strengthen himself, he twisted his body in all sorts of strange ways and dodged six.
But he was still hit by the remaining two and blown away.
Even so, the Trainer was extremely excited.
Because this meant Medicham really could do it.
He just lacked a little practice.
"Medicham, stand up!"
What else could Julian say?
He waved his hand.
"Toxicroak, Sucker Punch!"
Medicham had only just risen when Toxicroak rushed in front of him.
Toxicroak stabbed out with one hand, and Medicham immediately twisted his stomach to avoid it.
But that strike had only been a feint.
Toxicroak turned and drove an elbow straight into Medicham’s jaw.
Medicham spun two and a half times in mid-air before landing on the ground.
The immense force made Medicham faint directly.
Yet the Trainer happily recalled Medicham and sent out his final Pokémon.
"Go, Drapion!"
Interesting, using Drapion to battle Toxicroak
"Toxicroak, Brick Break!"
"Drapion, Pin Missile!"
Dense Pin Missiles shot out.
Toxicroak moved through them like duckweed drifting in the wind, weaving nimbly between the attacks before chopping one palm into Drapion’s abdomen.
The blow directly lifted Drapion into the air.
This was the first time Drapion had seen a Pokémon pass through Pin Missile and knock him flying.
The Trainer immediately shouted, "Drapion, don’t be afraid! Charge straight in and use Bite!"
Drapion’s two pincers immediately lit up with dark light.
He propped himself against the ground with his tail, landed, and then burst forward.
He really charged straight at Toxicroak.
Toxicroak raised an eyebrow.
He’s actually this brave?
Julian smiled and commanded, "Then we’ll charge too. Close Combat!"
The two Pokémon fought at close range.
Drapion’s pincers were directly knocked to the sides by Toxicroak.
Toxicroak rushed into Drapion’s chest, and his two poison spikes stabbed wildly.
Drapion let out a series of muffled groans.
The Trainer clenched his fists and shouted, "Drapion, you have to hold on! We worked so hard to get here!"
The Trainer was not talking about the hardship of their journey and training.
He was talking about how hard it had been to queue and get this opportunity to challenge Julian.
This once-in-a-lifetime chance — how could Drapion not seize it and complete a breakthrough with the help of the golden touch?
Drapion’s gaze instantly sharpened.
His tail suddenly stabbed towards Toxicroak, and the brute force sent Toxicroak flying.
"This is... Iron Tail!"
Iron Tail was a move the Trainer had been training with Drapion for a long time.
Because Drapion’s tail was extremely flexible, while his own mobility was relatively poor.
After learning that Drapion could make use of his flexible joints to organise a battle system, his girlfriend had recommended teaching Drapion Iron Tail.
But they had always been just a little short.
He did not know whether Drapion’s talent was lacking, or whether there were mistakes and omissions in his training.
As a result, today, under the effect of the golden touch, Drapion had actually broken through the difficulty that had troubled him all this time.
He successfully used Iron Tail and even sent Toxicroak flying.
Toxicroak revealed an appreciative expression.
Then he charged towards Drapion again.
Brick Break!
Compared to Close Combat, Toxicroak was still better at Brick Break.
Brick Break was not as powerful as Close Combat.
But Toxicroak could use Brick Break with both hands, and in one breath, he could chop out thirteen palms!
No matter how tough the Pokémon was, Toxicroak had confidence that he could finely chop them into filling!
A chain of Brick Breaks fell, beating Drapion completely senseless.
The Trainer also looked at Toxicroak with eyes full of admiration.
He felt Drapion could absolutely learn this method from Toxicroak.
For example, using Poison Fang and repeatedly swinging his claws could also produce excellent damage.
If he could not move quickly, then he should increase the damage he dealt in a single opening.
After recalling Drapion, the Trainer bowed directly to Julian.
"Thank you for your guidance, Gym Leader Julian."
Julian smiled faintly and took out a Cobble Badge, handing it to him.
"Your Pokémon performed very well. You deserve this Badge."
Although he had been officially passed, the Trainer was still extremely happy.
Today’s gains were already more than enough.
His three Pokémon had actually all triggered the golden touch. Could you believe it?
After leaving the Gym, the refreshed Trainer saw the sign of an internet café.
A victory like this had to be shared.
After all, what was the point of getting lucky if he could not show off a little?
And where better to show off than the Trainer forum?
[Love_Is_Like_Raising_Flowers: Everyone, today I challenged Veilstone Gym and finally received Gym Leader Julian’s personal guidance]
[Love_Is_Like_Raising_Flowers:It wasn’t easy. This was my fourth challenge, but the results were extremely pleasing. All three of my Pokémon successfully triggered the golden touch]
After reading this guy’s Gym experience, everyone’s eyes turned red.
[Love_Is_Like_Raising_Flowers:Final summary. Although Gym Leader Julian’s golden touch is very powerful, my girlfriend’s kiss also played a huge role]
[Love_Is_Like_Raising_Flowers:I recommend that before challenging the Gym, everyone should also ask their girlfriend to kiss them]
At that moment, every Trainer reading the post felt the same dark thought rise in their heart.
This guy not only triggered the golden touch three times, he even has a girlfriend...
He really deserves death!
[Desert Lone Wolf:Finished reading. May I ask where one collects a girlfriend?]
Just then, a muscular man in the internet café suddenly stood up.
He smiled warmly and said, "Excuse me, is Love_Is_Like_Raising_Flowers here? I have something I’d like to give him."
The Trainer sensed something was wrong and immediately closed the Trainer forum, pretending to watch a replay of a Contest broadcast.
