Chapter 151: Chapter 151

[IDontWantOvertime: Finally finished...]

[ReallyWantIceCream: Then hurry up and come back.]

[IDontWantOvertime: ...]

[IDontWantOvertime: I wanted to take a few days off...]

[ReallyWantIceCream: I’ve already received messages from several regional Leagues. A large number of Professors and researchers are currently heading toward Sinnoh.]

[ReallyWantIceCream: I’ve called Flint and the others back as well.]

[IDontWantOvertime: ...]

[IDontWantOvertime: @GengarStoleMyDrumstick This is your fault!]

Mike blinked.

’How is this my fault again?’

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: Why am I getting blamed this time?]

[IDontWantOvertime: Because now I have to go back and work overtime again...]

Cynthia rarely participated in the group chat, so she had probably only opened it because Lucian complained and needed to be ordered back from Unova.

A new message appeared.

[Gholdengo Is Number One: @GengarStoleMyDrumstick Mike, I read all the papers on Hisui carefully. Do you think any of the other Hisuian Pokémon can actually be restored?]

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: Hard to say. I can’t promise anything because we’re dealing with a lot of unknowns.]

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: I’ll keep looking for possibilities while I travel, and Professor Rowan and the others will continue experimenting too.]

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: I’ll do my best. Consider it part of my dream of becoming a Pokémon Professor. SnivyCheering.jpg]

[Gholdengo Is Number One: I really like the Hisuian mantis and bear from the murals. If it ever becomes possible, I’d honestly like to raise one.]

[Gholdengo Is Number One: Just don’t take unnecessary risks trying to bring them back.]

[Jordan D’souza: Those papers are so long my head hurts. How did you actually read all of them?]

[Gholdengo Is Number One: The company documents I read every day are worse. Compared with those, academic papers are relaxing.]

[Juice Bro: Weren’t the names Mike proposed for those two Kleavor and Ursaluna?]

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: Yep.]

[Juice Bro: I looked at the murals. They both look pretty badass.]

Mike pictured Kleavor.

And he immediately began questioning Juice Bro’s taste.

’Kleavor is the cool one?’

Wasn’t Scizor obviously cooler?

Bright red steel armor.

Sleek body.

Giant pincers.

Extremely cool!

Admittedly, fire was a slight problem fot it.

[Juice Bro: I still prefer Hisuian Goodra, though. That huge shell looks incredibly safe.]

[ Creasent_slayer161: Shouldn’t you be interested in Hisuian Lilligant instead? 😏]

{System: Creasent_slayer161 (Verified Furry) was muted for thirty minutes by Gholdengoisnumber1.}

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: LOL.]

[IDontWantOvertime: Heading back to Sinnoh...]

[Mad Silence: That fast? I was thinking of meeting you for dinner while you were still here.]

[IDontWantOvertime: Next time.]

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: You can send me the money. I’ll buy him dinner for you.]

[Mad Silence: Transfer sent.]

Mike stared at the notification.

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: ???]

[Professor Purple: ???]

[Juice Bro: ???]

Even the muted Creasent_slayer161 somehow managed to express his disbelief through the system notice history.

Mike recovered immediately.

[GengarStoleMyDrumstick: Thank you, boss! Next time I see him, I promise I’ll treat him to a meal!]

He accepted the transfer and locked his phone with a deeply satisfied expression.

By then, Gengar and the others had finally returned to their seats because the train had begun slowing.

"Gar—"

Gengar sipped juice he had bought from the attendant’s cart.

[The train’s getting slower.]

"That’s because we’re almost at Jubilife City."

Mike glanced toward him.

"Gengar, give me the backpack."

Gengar handed it over.

Then he suddenly remembered something.

His eyes narrowed and locked onto the bag in Mike’s hands.

Mike noticed immediately.

He turned toward the window with exaggerated surprise.

"Whoa... is that a flying fish?"

"GAR!"

[WHERE?!]

Gengar spun toward the window... but only see several Starly were flying outside.

Gengar froze.

Σ(°∀°)ノ

’MIKE!’

’YOU LIED TO ME AGAIN!’

He whipped around furiously.

Several boxes were already sitting in front of Mike.

Gengar stared at him.

Mike simply smiled, opened the first box, and pushed it across the table.

"Don’t like it?"

Inside lay a Toxic Orb.

Gengar opened his mouth, clearly intending to continue complaining.

Then he looked at the Orb.

His priorities changed.

He picked it up and immediately tossed it into his mouth.

"Gar—"

[I’ll let you off this time~]

Crunch. Crunch.

╰(´︶`)╯

Delicious!

Mike pushed the second Toxic Orb toward Beedrill.

Beedrill wasted no time either, picking it up and biting straight into it.

A moment later, the two brothers were leaning comfortably against their seats, lazily chewing their Toxic Orbs with expressions of complete satisfaction.

Mike then took out the Miracle Seed and handed it to Snivy.

She held the clear, jewel-like seed between both hands and looked toward Gengar and Beedrill.

The two of them were eating their items.

Snivy hesitated.

Then she put the Miracle Seed in her mouth.

Mike had already started explaining.

"Hold onto that for now. Once we get somewhere with supplies, I’ll find a cord and turn it into a pendant so you can wear it around your—"

Crunch.

Mike stopped.

He slowly turned.

Snivy was holding half a Miracle Seed.... the other half was already in her mouth.

Crunch. Crunch.

Mike swallowed.

"...Did you just eat it?"

Snivy looked at him as though the answer were obvious.

She swallowed the first half, put the rest into her mouth, dusted off her hands, and stared up at Mike with her large, innocent eyes.

Her expression seemed to ask what exactly the problem was.

Gengar and Beedrill were eating theirs.

Why wouldn’t hers be food too?

It tasted fine.

A little hard on the teeth, perhaps.

Mike stared at her.

’Where did my gentle, elegant, responsible Snivy go?’

’How did Gengar and Beedrill corrupt her this badly when I wasn’t looking?’

Snivy lifted her chin and swallowed the remainder.

"Sni~"

[Was I not supposed to eat it?]

Mike hesitated.

"Well... it’s not exactly harmful."

He sighed.

"The Miracle Seed is normally something you carry so your body gradually absorbs its Grass-type energy. But you already ate it, so whatever. If you like it, I can buy you more sometime."

"Sni~"

[Okay~]

Mike became curious.

"How do you feel after eating it?"

Snivy concentrated for a moment.

"Sni."

[Warm. There’s energy continuously flowing through my body.]

"Then it’s probably fine. Take your time digesting the energy."

Snivy nodded and closed her eyes, settling into quiet concentration.

Finally, Mike looked toward Glameow.

She was already watching him expectantly.

He smiled and brought out the ball of red cord.

{Destiny Knot: A long, thin red cord. If the holder becomes infatuated, the opposing Pokémon will become infatuated as well.}

Mike placed the ball in front of her.

"This one’s for you to play with."

Glameow looked at the red ball.

Then at Mike.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Meow?"

[This is what you got me?]

"Try it first. If you hate it, I’ll get you something else."

Glameow cautiously extended one paw and tapped the ball.

It rolled a short distance.

Her pupils contracted as she stared at it.

Then tapped it again.

The ball rolled farther.

Glameow went perfectly still.

’!!!’

Mike grinned.

"You like it, don’t you?"

Glameow looked toward him, gave a cool and dismissive little "Meow," then immediately grabbed the ball and carried it into the corner of the compartment to play by herself.

Seeing that every Pokémon seemed happy with their gifts, Mike leaned back with a satisfied smile.

The shopping spree had cost him a little over twenty thousand Viewership Points.

Between the ten thousand he had received when Wyrdeer first appeared and the twenty-thousand-plus he had accumulated from the livestream and recent videos, he had briefly held more than thirty thousand.

After buying the new items, his balance had fallen back to roughly ten thousand.

Mike decided to leave it there.

There was no reason to spend everything just because he had it. Keeping a reserve might prove useful if something unexpected happened later.

A short while afterward, the train finally pulled into the station.

Mike stood and opened his arms toward Glameow.

"Time to get off."

Glameow picked up the Destiny Knot in her mouth, jumped directly into his arms, and allowed him to carry her.

With Glameow held comfortably against his chest, Mike walked off the train while Gengar, Snivy, and Beedrill followed behind.

After many days on the road, Mike had finally returned to Jubilife City—and for once, he had gotten there without walking.
