Pokémon: Evolving From Charmander To WarGreymon
Chapter 471 - 466
They were all human.
Seeing Shiko about to be brutally killed by Mewtwo naturally stirred a sense of grief in everyone's hearts.
It was almost as if they were seeing their own future fate.
And yet, on the battlefield, Shiko himself remained completely calm.
His gaze was as deep and still as a pool of water.
Mewtwo's attack posed absolutely no threat to him.
To everyone else, it might have been an earth-shattering attack carrying overwhelming force.
But before Shiko, with the strength he possessed now, it would not be an exaggeration to say that he could block it with a single finger.
Their strength was no longer on the same level.
So, in the end, would he still have to personally intervene in this battle?
If he had known things would turn out like this, he would not have let that guy evolve.
Shiko complained inwardly before preparing himself to deal with the incoming attack.
At that exact moment, the white Evolution Light in the sky began to recede.
In an instant, it vanished completely.
Immediately afterward, a yellow meteor came diving down diagonally at a speed even greater than Mewtwo's.
A fraction of a second before Mewtwo's attack could land on Shiko—
It intercepted him!
CLANG!
Another crystal-clear metallic impact rang out.
Mewtwo's diving charge was forcibly brought to a halt.
Between him and Shiko, who had been only inches away, another figure had suddenly appeared.
How?
Upon seeing that figure, even the usually arrogant and domineering Mewtwo revealed disbelief in his eyes.
The one who had stopped him—
Was WarGreymon after his evolution.
And WarGreymon's current appearance was completely different from what Mewtwo had expected.
In Mewtwo's mind, evolution should have caused his opponent's form to change.
He should have transformed into an entirely new life-form.
Yet reality was completely different.
WarGreymon still looked like WarGreymon.
The only difference was that his size had undergone an astonishing transformation.
Originally, WarGreymon had stood at roughly two and a half meters tall.
But now—
He was at least thirty meters tall.
His overall dimensions had increased by more than tenfold.
This...
Could this really be considered evolution?
Mewtwo found it impossible to accept.
It completely contradicted the information that had been implanted into his mind.
After pulling some distance away following their collision, Mewtwo actually fell into a brief daze.
And he was not the only one.
Everyone who had witnessed the scene reacted almost exactly the same way.
Nobody had expected such a being to emerge once the white Evolution Light disappeared.
It completely contradicted the rules and principles they had always accepted.
No matter how one looked at it, evolution was supposed to result in an entirely new form.
That was something universally accepted throughout Pokémon academia.
But what about now?
After the unmistakable Evolution Light vanished—
The new individual that appeared was basically just a gigantic version of WarGreymon.
How could that even count as evolution?
The spectators were dumbfounded.
One after another, they vigorously rubbed their eyes, wondering if they were hallucinating or had somehow seen things incorrectly.
Meanwhile, inside the VIP suite, the emotions of the influential figures inside were swinging wildly.
They had originally assumed that WarGreymon's evolution route would resemble Shiko's own.
After this evolution, perhaps he would become an unimaginably powerful Creator God-level being.
Yet unexpectedly—
All that seemed to have happened was that his body had grown larger.
The agile humanoid dragon warrior from before had become an enormous, hulking giant.
Could a change like that really produce a qualitative leap in his combat power and overall capabilities?
Every one of those influential figures had doubts.
Judging solely from the information they had gathered so far, there was a good possibility that WarGreymon's offensive power had increased after evolving.
After all, his body had become enormous.
But what about his defense?
Had it increased or decreased?
An increase seemed highly unlikely.
It was more probable that it had remained unchanged—or perhaps even weakened.
After all, the Chrome Digizoid armor covering his body had not simply appeared out of nowhere.
It was formed through a combination of energy and special metal.
And judging from his current appearance, this enormous WarGreymon had most likely stretched his original metallic armor until it covered his vastly enlarged body.
If so, the defensive strength of the armor itself would inevitably have been diluted.
Of course, such a huge body naturally came with excellent physical durability.
After balancing those advantages and disadvantages, his overall defense might barely remain at its previous level.
As for the intensity of his energy output—
That had most likely weakened.
Although his enormous body meant that the total amount of energy stored inside him had probably increased, such a huge body also created plenty of problems.
His energy-conversion efficiency would inevitably decrease.
That would result in both a lower attack frequency and reduced output intensity.
Therefore, taken as a whole, his capabilities in this area had undoubtedly weakened.
As for his resistance to special attacks—
Using his ordinary defensive capabilities as a reference, it had probably either remained unchanged or suffered a significant decrease.
His stamina, however—
There was no question about that.
It had definitely increased.
And by a tremendous amount.
After all, throughout the Pokémon World, a larger body generally represented stronger vitality and greater stamina.
That left agility and speed.
There was no doubt about it.
The greatest advantages of a massive body were strength and stamina.
Its natural weakness, therefore, was speed.
Simply moving a body this enormous would require a considerable amount of energy.
Trying to make it move at high speed would be even more difficult.
Therefore, a reduction in speed after evolving seemed inevitable.
And that created another problem.
Mewtwo was already an extraordinarily fast Pokémon.
During the previous battle, WarGreymon had only barely managed to match Mewtwo's speed.
But now—
With such a gigantic body, there was no possible way he could maintain his former speed.
That meant Mewtwo would have even more tactical options available.
Although WarGreymon's overall abilities appeared to have improved after evolution, those improvements did not actually provide any decisive advantages in this particular battle.
In fact, they might even have a negative effect.
What had previously been an evenly matched battle, with WarGreymon trailing by only the slightest margin, had now seemingly turned into a completely one-sided fight.
The evolved WarGreymon—
At most, he was simply a punching bag with a much larger health pool.
Foolish.
Disdain surfaced in Mewtwo's icy-blue eyes.
He could clearly sense that his opponent's aura had indeed grown significantly stronger after this evolution.
But so what?
The disadvantages caused by such an enormous body were simply too great.
Great enough to completely outweigh that small increase in strength.
Great enough that Mewtwo believed he could now win the battle even more easily than before.
Idiot.
Mewtwo gave a cold snort.
His figure transformed into something resembling a streaking meteor as he began rapidly moving through the air.
In the blink of an eye, his speed accelerated to an astonishing degree.
He could no longer be tracked by the naked eye.
Yet Mewtwo did not attack.
Everything he was doing seemed intended purely as a provocation.
Almost as though he were asking WarGreymon a question.
Could he still keep up with this speed?
And immediately afterward—
A scene that completely shattered everyone's understanding unfolded.
