Chapter 337: Chapter 336

Either wait outside or just drive away. Joanna Kennedy’s only thought was to get rid of him. Burning your bridges wasn’t even this fast.

“…Joanna Kennedy, you’re really something else.” Howard Thorne left with that one, grit-toothed sentence, and strode away.

Only the two of them remained in the vast hospital lobby. Jasper Sinclair narrowed his eyes. “You’ve hurt Young Master Thorne’s heart.”

Howard Thorne had looked so miserable he was on the verge of tears. Any normal person could see his feelings for Joanna Kennedy, yet she remained completely unmoved.

“Was it you?” Joanna Kennedy’s tone was calm, as if she were confirming something.

Jasper Sinclair smiled. “What?”

“Don’t you already have the evidence?” Jasper Sinclair’s tone was tinged with mockery. “Simon Lockwood really tells you everything, doesn’t he? So, speak. What do you want?”

Joanna Kennedy now held the lifeline of the Sinclair Group in her hands. Jasper Sinclair didn’t believe she only wanted to see Simon Lockwood. He waited for her to state her demands. Whether she wanted money or resources, he could give it all to her.

But Joanna Kennedy’s next words made him frown.

“I’m asking you, was this your doing?” For the first time, a sharp glint appeared in Joanna Kennedy’s bright, almond-shaped eyes, piercing straight through Jasper Sinclair. “The explosion, the shoddy glass—did you arrange for that?”

“…”

Joanna Kennedy had been wondering. The blast itself wasn’t actually that powerful, so how could it have shattered the glass? The answer came when she saw the file on Simon Lockwood’s laptop: evidence of the Sinclair Group’s crimes.

The evidence had been sent to two email addresses the previous night. If she wasn’t mistaken, they must have gone to two members of the Sinclair family.

Jasper Sinclair had been scared. He wanted Simon Lockwood dead, but he wasn’t bold enough to tamper with the explosives. For that, Joanna Kennedy was thankful. He didn’t have that much nerve.

Jasper Sinclair knew he’d been exposed, but admitting it was out of the question. He shrugged, putting on a confused expression. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Joanna Kennedy nodded, hefting the baseball bat as she slowly got to her feet. Jasper Sinclair frowned. “What are you doing?”

“All the evidence is on this laptop.” Joanna Kennedy placed it on a chair in the waiting area. “You can come get it yourself.”

Jasper Sinclair’s eyes followed her every move, never leaving the laptop. His eyes lit up at her words, but he was no fool. “Joanna Kennedy, what do you want?”

‘What did she want?’

Joanna Kennedy thought about it. There was a lot she wanted, but right now, there was only one thing she wanted to do more than anything else. She spoke slowly. “I want to beat you up.”

The words had barely left her mouth. Before Jasper Sinclair could even react, a sharp pain shot through his leg.

“Fuck, Joanna Kennedy, are you insane?!”

The baseball bat slammed directly into his shin. Jasper Sinclair’s face contorted in pain, and he couldn’t even stand.

He couldn’t believe what Joanna Kennedy was doing, but the relentless blows and the searing pain left him no choice.

‘Joanna Kennedy actually dared to hit me?!’

‘I’m being beaten up by a woman?!’

The realization made his face twist into a ferocious grimace. “Fucking…”

He tried to force himself up to snatch the bat, but another vicious blow landed on the exact same spot.

“AH!” Jasper Sinclair cried out, only to be met with a kick that sent him sprawling onto his back.

One blow. Two. Three…

“‘Fucking’ what? I’m asking you, ‘fucking’ what?” Joanna Kennedy’s blows grew more vicious, never stopping. Each swing was fueled by pure, personal vengeance, landing precisely on the same spot on his right leg. “Go on, scream! Fucking scream again!”

All the emotions she had suppressed since the previous night erupted in an overwhelming torrent. Her eyes were bloodshot with rage.

‘It’s not enough. Still not enough.’ The blood… there had been so much blood. It was enough to jolt her awake the moment she closed her eyes. She wanted to kill the person who had hurt Simon Lockwood.

She had already lost Simon Lockwood once. This hypocritical, disgusting man, Jasper Sinclair, had nearly caused her to lose him again.

At this thought, Joanna Kennedy could no longer control her strength. She only wished she were holding a knife instead of a bat.

She was hitting him so relentlessly, always in the same spot, that Jasper Sinclair’s agonized screams soon alerted the bodyguards outside.

Just before the bodyguards could rush in, Joanna Kennedy stomped her foot down hard on Jasper Sinclair’s battered right leg. A sickening CRACK echoed through the hall, followed by Jasper Sinclair’s weak, agonized shriek.

The searing pain made him pass out, but he was violently jolted awake again by the same pain. Joanna Kennedy was still kicking his leg.

Jasper Sinclair: “…”

‘Joanna Kennedy is a fucking lunatic! Just like Simon Lockwood—they’re cut from the same damn cloth!’

The bodyguards, arriving late, gasped. Their boss was on the floor, his face a terrifying shade of white, his right leg bent at an unnatural angle. They couldn’t believe their eyes.

‘They had only been gone for a few minutes. How could this have happened?!’

In their line of sight, the slender, beautiful girl holding the baseball bat gave the man on the ground another merciless kick. The sight alone made their own legs ache in sympathy.

Snapping back to reality, they moved to grab Joanna Kennedy, but her words froze them in their tracks.

“Anyone who comes closer, I’ll break his other leg. See if I don’t.”

They could only watch as she rested the bat on Jasper Sinclair’s left leg and tapped it gently. The bodyguards exchanged a look. No one dared to move.

They all knew she was serious.

The girl before them might look delicate and beautiful, but that was only an appearance. The reality was that she had beaten a grown man like Jasper Sinclair into this state.

Even if she had used a weapon, she was still a force to be reckoned with.

Joanna Kennedy was satisfied with the bodyguards’ reaction. She looked down condescendingly at Jasper Sinclair, who was on the verge of passing out. “Let me go up, or I’ll leak everything online.”

“…”

She’d beaten him, and now she was blackmailing him with the evidence. Jasper Sinclair closed his eyes, wishing he could just pass out for good. But every time he showed the slightest sign of losing consciousness, she would kick his right leg viciously.

His right leg was broken. If he didn’t get treatment soon, there was no telling what permanent damage he might suffer.

Breaking out in a cold sweat from the pain, Jasper Sinclair forced the words out through gritted teeth. “Take. Her. Upstairs.”

“Joanna Kennedy, I won’t forget this,” Jasper Sinclair managed to say, his eyes filled with a dark, malevolent promise.

“Heh…” Joanna Kennedy sneered and gave him another kick. “Be my guest.”

“…”

The fifth-floor corridor was quiet. When the bodyguards brought her to the hospital room door, Joanna Kennedy raised her hand. She touched the cool metal of the door, then let her hand fall, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt.

The ruthless composure she’d shown while beating Jasper was gone, replaced by a look of uncertainty.

‘Is Simon Lockwood awake? What’s he doing right now? How bad are his injuries? Will he blame me for taking so long?’

Joanna Kennedy had so much to say, so many questions to ask, but now, standing in front of the door, she didn’t dare go in. She didn’t know how to face the person inside.

She tried to tell herself not to cry when she saw him. ‘Simon Lockwood is out of danger. You can’t just start crying the moment you see him. That would be so childish.’
